I had a very specific vision, a dark green velvet dinner jacket, which Vandna helped bring to life. In addition, she also made my pants, shirt, and tie. In the end, everything turned out beautiful.Vandna was wonderful to work with throughout the process, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. And I am absolutely confident I got the highest quality possible at a better price than anywhere else in New York or northern New Jersey.”

“I had my mom's old wedding dress with those big, kinda gaudy 80s sleeves and was really biting my nails over how it would turn out. Gotta admit, I was half thinking I made a mistake promising mom I'd wear it. But Selene, oh man, she's like some kind of wizard with fabric. She reshaped those sleeves into something super chic and tweaked the waist so I felt like I stepped out of a fairytale. It was more than just a dress alteration, it felt like Selene was part of the family, making sure I looked and felt amazing. I didn't shed a tear at the wedding, but picking up the dress? That's another story.”

“This store is the epitome of what thrifting can & should be. if you ever went into a little boutique thrift store and were wowed by the pieces but dissapointed that the prices were completley unaffordable, this store will give you the satisfaction you’re looking for. It is a small, well curated collection, but the prices are very fair, so you feel like you can really participate even if you’re not super wealthy. It's also a small business -- doesn't really get better than this.”

“I was visiting my daughter in NYC, as I do several times a year. We have walked by this store many times, but finally stopped in. I needed a nice sweater to wear to a restaurant that had a dress code and I only packed casual clothes. I wore the sweater that night, but the weather really took a turn - it was 82 degrees on the weekend and only 45 by the time I left. The sweater I bought was on sale at such a reasonable price and turned out to be a lifesaver. I also bought a few other pieces of clothing on sale. I got a free large tote bag with my purchase that came in handy the rest of my trip and on my return flight since they only allow one carry-on bag.Tim was one of the sweetest people I have ever encountered in a store - especially in NYC! He was incredibly helpful and it was a true pleasure to meet him. Until he told us, we had no idea that Daily Thread has about 150 stores in 30 states, including the Chicago area. We also didn't know that Frye and Juicy Couture are owned by the same parent company!”

“MooShoes is a very nice store with everything you might need all the way from a daily comfort shoe to durable work boots and stylish dress shoes. They also have very attractive belts, satchels, bags, and wallets! And best of all everything is leather free!!! The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful about any questions you might have! As a matter of fact I just bought a gorgeous black belt and they assisted me so I went home with the exact right size! This is a wonderful store! “I had a magical time at my Universal Standard personal shopping experience and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in trying their clothes in a warm, welcoming environment. The only minor difficulty was that the door buzzer wasn't working, but I called the phone number included in my appointment email and was headed upstairs in moments with my friend who was there for additional support. The rest of the appointment was ever better than I had hoped. The space is lovely and comfortable with refreshments and a very clean bathroom. I met with my very glamorous stylist who immediately put me at ease. I had come in to try on their new US + Henning collaboration and they had every piece I wanted to try on. We also walked through things I liked from the brand so he had a sense of what I wanted (although I later learned he knew my shopping history from US well so he wouldn't pull things I already owned!). After we spoke with the stylist, I was left alone with my friend and the other person who also shared my appointment time, who was lovely, and we looked at some clothes they had in the space while our stylist pulled looks for each of us. Then we were able to try everything on in dressing rooms and talk through them. I was able to order some items there and will order more later once I get home and decide on the colors. I know the US brand extremely well and I still thought this was an excellent experience. I felt very taken care of and appreciated. I also learned some styling tricks and things to consider when buying a blazer to ensure it's sized correctly. I just can't speak highly enough about this experience. I like shopping in general, but this was luxurious and special. I highly recommend!”
