“Delicious food and friendly staff. We particularly enjoyed the vegetarian platter which offered a variety of dishes to try including spiced rice, Mediterranean salad, grape leaves, falafel, baba ganoush, hummus, and pickled veggies. Everything tasted great and we paired it with an Apple Barbican beverage from their grocery section and some baklava for dessert. Happy full bellies after lunch today :) Thanks Mo'z!”

I could find myself in this shop for hours smelling and sampling their diverse tea and spice options. Of every Spice & Tea Exchange location I've been to, this one is the crème de la crème. “I started servicing this store as part of my vendor route recently,I am quite impressed with the level of service and quality,I personally have spent over 50 years in the grocery business and I believe this store is on the right track, they have quite the array of ready to eat foods, freshly made hot entrees, salads and an olive bar, and freshly prepped pasta salads , definitely with checking out if you have never shopped here!”
“I was in this location today, my usual store. (Grand Ave and 4th Street West DES) I was pleasantly surprised to see ribs in the rotisserie. They ended up being better than I thought they would be. Not quite fall off the bone but the quality and quantity and flavor made them well worth the price. Please make this a regular addition to the rotisserie line up.”
“Glad the keg cooler was fixed! And that there are new cold keg beer for happy hour 4pm-6pm.
Also glad there are new kitchen staff & the kitchen manager has squashed the rumors of the bar closing. So with more regular cooks & them learning to help bartend, I'd give it another chance.
Hopefully, the new district manager follows through as well to try to keep things running smoothly in all aspects of Hy-Vee.”
“Whenever we visit this HyVee store we are greeted by a smile and a friendly hello by every employee we encounter. Everyone is eager to help and they make sure that you find whatever you are looking for. We take our time when we visit, what we call " Our HyVee Store," because it's always a pleasurable experience and we just take our time to enjoy it.”
“Store is clean, deli was great, but coming from Michigan, the prices in Iowa are crazy. Without exaggerating I’d spend at least 20-30% less on groceries at Meijer than I would Hy-Vee. That’s why I have to dock a star. Even corn was 12/$8, we are in Iowa, it should be basically free!”
“Stacey and Chef Alex went above and beyond to make our wedding a success. Guests were blown away to learn we used Hy-Vee for catering. They were easy to work with, communicated efficiently, and the food was hot and delicious. There are not many places that cater as well as Hy-Vee, but this location specifically is 10/10 due to Stacey Berg. She’s absolutely wonderful and as organized as they come. Highly recommend you use Hy-Vee West Lakes for any catering needs you may have.”
“Not really happy with Hy-Vee's aggressive tactics in the take over of the local grocery store market... But I guess that's the way of things these days ??♂️
Anyway... All in all, Hy-Vee has good quality and decent prices. Not sure what happened to 'a smile in every aisle' though? The self checkout seems to be counter to that old motto.”
“The people who work at Hy-Vee are generally very helpful. The only complaint is the pharmacy drive-thru gets extremely congested. I almost saw a fight there the other day when an unsuspecting senior pulled in the line and it was ahead of the man who had been waiting for quite awhile..he started honking then it got more aggressive until he got out of his car and started to yell at the person... it really was a scary situation... the drive-thru does need to be reconfigured as it generally has a long line. The store usually have what you need but I recommend making sure to watch when items are on sale that they ring up properly because sometimes that doesn't happen.”

“Great sauce, great people! I hauled some of this dope hot sauce from my local in Barrie and it's a knockout!
Seems I got the ghost Pepper hot sauce, its awesome! Great flavor, a tad too salty but fresh natural tasting and well balanced with a good level of moderate heat in my opinion which is perfect for topping Buddha bowls or pizza being a veggie and also blends super well with tofu. A humble local company whipping up great hot sauce, I dig it Hector, keep it coming man!
I'm bummed it's all the way in the US and hope I stumble across some up north again!

“Cheryl Watson the pharmacist is top notch professional, helpful, friendly and approachable! I was in from out of town and with my Mom who needed help with her prescription. Cheryl came out from behind the counter to help communicate with her (91 and hearing problems). She listened to her needs and solved her problem. So kind!!! So kind and I know Mom is in good hands”

“I love Target in general, but this Target is one of the best ones I've been in. It's clean and organized every single time I come here. Staff is super friendly and helpful.I never have issues finding anything. Shelf's are always stocked. The parking lot isn't crazy chaotic and the carts are constantly being picked up and brought back in. They have a beautiful Starbucks inside as well. They are fast with pick ups.Definitely one of the best Targets available.”
“This is becoming my go to location more and more. I live closer to the Windsor Heights store, but it's been going downhill quickly. After the revamp of the floor and shelving I was hoping the Windsor Heights location was going to be better. Nope. The West Des Moines location is consistently clean, well organized, and well stocked. It definitely makes the few more mile drive worth it. Kind of sad that I'd rather drive to this store or Grimes than to do business with the one closest to my home.”

“Trader Joe's - how I've missed you. It's a smaller venue that's relatively easy to get in & out of, which I appreciate as a busy professional. The products are an interesting mix of usual grocery products and some innovative or out of the ordinary products. I do like what they have to offer, and the value seems fairly reasonable if not good. I tend to like their coffee, tea, condiment, and snack options, but I think most people can find something to their liking.”
