“My mom and I needed to be in Santa Monica for a week and this motel was one of the recommended stays. I generally veer away from motel's, and we were not let down. This place is small, charming and cute. What you see is what it is. There aren't many rooms, which is perfect. Check-in was a breeze and we were kindly greeted by the property pup. I started petting him, and he didn't want me to stop. They over many amenities even for the beach. Their rooms have actual locks and keys. Having room 7, we would get sunshine through the shutters for a few hours and it was glorious. One thing I loved about this place, no carpet! Our room had 2 double beds. I thought it was comfy, my mom didn't. Being that this was our home away from home for the week, we had things to place in the fridge and it was of good size to hold everything. We didn't know until later, but we could have asked for certain appliances, like a microwave, coffee maker, etc. The bathroom is of good size. The shower is...a shower. Water pressure was lacking, but it was hot. I'll take hot any day. We had a full circular table with 3 chairs. Honestly, I loved it. We weren't cramped at all. It was quiet at night as they closed the gate. The only night we heard revelers was a Saturday as there is a tavern or pub across the way. And it wasn't loud per say, just busy noise. Definitely grateful for closing of the gates at night, though. This place is in a prime location and walkable to many places to eat, CVS, local liquor store, and the beach. Once you park, you really don't have to leave. Which parking is free. Another plus of this place. After staying here a week and experiencing Santa Monica, I'm not sure how this place is not booked every night. Sure, it's slow season and I'm sure summer it's on and popping! I will for sure be back!”

“I used to be a regular at Shutters but then had a number of service mishaps that drove me to other properties in the area, most often the Fairmont. But I decided to give it another try. It's a famous property in Santa Monica on the beach, an amazing location, and a great place from which to enjoy the culture and sites of the area.I stayed in a lovely suite with a balcony and, although their material claimed it had a beach view, that was an exaggeration. It was actually a view of the parking lot and you could barely see the beach.Unfortunately, I once again had some service issues with the specifics of what was supposed to happen for a special event, which I had outlined in two-way electronic correspondence which they had confirmed. The manager apologized and was very diligent in trying to remedy the situation, so I will give them credit for that, though the communication error among their staff that caused this service mishap was a hotel management 101 mistake and not what I would expect from a true luxury brand. From the standpoint of a recommendation, I still recommend the property for its on site services and location. I do feel that they are committed to high quality service, but somehow I've been unlucky and am personally not motivated to try again. I've had no such issues in my last visits to the Fairmont Santa Monica, which I would recommend more highly.”

“Just stayed at Santa Monica Proper Hotel for the first time this past weekend and all I can say is WOW! I’m an interior designer and Kelly Wearsler lover so it’s been on my bucket list to stay here and it did not disappoint! From the Spa, to the design, food, amenities, staff, EVERYTHING was absolute perfection! The staff were the friendliest I’ve experienced in a long time at a hotel. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are very sound proof so you will sleep like a baby here which is very important to me. The hotel is absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to return again soon!Rooms: So incredibly beautiful and comfortable. The room was huge because we got a complimentary upgrade so it had a full entryway and more than enough room for our 4 suitcases. Extremely comfortable beds and soundproof room!Walkability: Great location and only a few blocks from Santa Monica pierFood & drinks: Wonderful food. We tried breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails and loved them all!Noteworthy details: Every single piece in this hotel is intentionally placed and selected as part of the design aesthetic .”

“I came to the restaurant at the Georgian hotel.I want to commend the Georgian restaurant staff and management. I had the pleasure of having a cocktail, fries and a latte in the terrace today. Every single staff member I came across from the hostess, to the waiters and waitresses, were some of the kindest restaurant/hotel staff I have ever come across. That typically happens with solid management and leadership- so thanks to you and your staff for whatever you are doing that helped make my time with The Georgian a wonderful experience. I will definitely be back and will bring a group sometime!Food & drinks: Great restaurant - ambiance, views and food”

“Beautiful, well maintained boutique sized property with large well decorated suites and good service. Built around a central courtyard with a heated pool and hangout area, it’s a nice vibe. The restaurant was small and overpriced but shockingly good food. Decent location, walk right along the ocean view, walking path, 1 mile to Santa Monica pier.”

“We had such a wonderful stay at the Channel Road Inn. Our room was so nice with a sitting area, gas fireplace which turned on with a switch, a beautiful private deck, large bathroom and comfortable bed with good linens. Dominique was an amazing host and chef! She made an amazing artichoke, parmesan soufflé, very delicious pear bread and homemade granola along with yogurt, fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, great coffee… I’m sure I am missing something! I highly recommend staying here rather than any highly rated hotel you will want to come back again soon as we do.”

“Surprisingly, I really enjoyed my experience at The Huntley. From the exterior, I was a bit concerned when we drove up, but my fears quickly subsided as we stepped into the lobby. Chanel was wonderful at check-in. We were celebrating a birthday, so she sent up a nice surprise and 2 drink tickets for the rooftop bar.The rooms were clean. The closet was unique and a nice touch, although I never unpack. The bathroom was clean, a bit small, but the shower got nice and hot.Features:- Keycard required in elevator- Service/doorbell- Privacy & Room service notification light- Mini fridge - everything is for purchase, request an empty fridge for food storage separatelyI would definitely stay here again.”

“I typically stay in Santa Monica hotels along the beach - but stayed 3 nights at The Ambrose this visit due to location. Much better than I had expected. Great Location. Very quiet. Good Service. Would stay again. Easy walk to a number of restaurants along Wilshire - Milo & Olive is my favorite. Tartine across the street is great for breakfast/lunch.Nearby activities: Restaurants - Milo & Olive, Tartine. Others on Wilshire.”

“For me, the best feature of this hotel is its location. It is a stone's throw to the beach, Santa Monica Pier, shopping, and Venice Beach. Beach bikes are available for use. The restaurant has approachable food and an excellent waitstaff.”

“I decided to book this hotel for our Los Angeles trip and I'm glad I did!It was a struggle to find a well-reviewed hotel that included breakfast and parking, so when we found the Gateway Hotel it almost seemed too good to be true, but it lived up to my expectations. The location is good, right on Santa Monica Boulevard but not immediately surrounded by tourist shops or anything like that. It's about a mile to the pier. The parking is on two underground levels and it is very tight, I could see full size SUVs or trucks having difficulty down there. The parking can be included in your rate, so if you need to park make sure that's in your rate. The rooms were very well furnished and kept very clean. The staff was always kind when we interacted with them. There was some street noise, but I think it was more than acceptable. There was no noise from other rooms or the hallway. The bathroom was good but I do like rooms where the toilet and bathtub are separate and at Gateway it was all one room. My only wish was for higher water pressure. The SOCALO restaurant in the hotel is excellent as well and they have happy hour specials! Definitely worth popping in there, even if it's just for drinks and appetizers.”

“I'm planning a trip to L.A. in April 2022 and looked forward to staying at Seaview Inn again after my stay in February 2019 BEFORE the hateful pandemic. I'm so sad to find this historic motel is now closed. One man is responsible for all the pain suffered by American's and not when two years ago he had the power to stop a wild fire. I will miss this great place and the owner and woman (Who's name I can't remember - Sorry) who were so kind and suggested I "Hurry and get to the beach! You'll miss the sunset!" I got in late afternoon when I checked in. I made it to see the gorgeos sunset! The beach is steps away and "Cora's" historic eatery is adjacent to Seaview Hotel.Grateful I chose to stay here before disaster hit.Blessings to the owner and staff of Seaview Inn. Much health and love in the futuresDebbie, Tijeras NM.”

“We stay here often and the owners are so kind and accommodating to our needs. I took my daughter on one of our frequent stays at the motel because I knew it would be the perfect place for us and it was such a lovely time. The rooms are so cute and perfect. We also enjoyed the fresh picked flowers all around the property.”

“We came here with our baby and really appreciate the restaurant in the hotel and the healthy options! It was easy to feed us and the toddler! Service was really great all the times we ate at the restaurant too.”

“This hotel is really nice for the area. It is walking distance to the beach but the area isn't the safest and I wouldn't take that walk alone. The rooms are nice and clean. The only issue I have is the noise from levels above. There seems to be no type of insulation because it is LOUD if someone is walking in a room above you and when housekeeping vacuums it sounds like they will fall through the ceiling at any moment. Overall it was a good stay and I'd stay here again.”

“I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. From the clean/modern rooms, to the extremely friendly/accommodating staff (a special shout out to Michael and Mika) to the perfect location … my stay was truly enjoyable. I thankfully have Globalist status at Hyatt and Diamond status at Hilton; I would put this hotel right on par with some of their nicest properties. Highly recommend!”

“Amazing location just steps from the beach and a few minutes' walk to the pier, restaurants. Friendly, helpful staff. Room is definitely dated (personally, we enjoyed the vintage character), but very clean, not too cramped, and everything worked. Appreciated bat fridge and space heater for cool January mornings. Not having coffee in-room was slightly inconvenient, but having reading the mentioning this, we expected to have to go further than the lobby for coffee, so lobby coffee was actually a nice surprise. We chose this hotel b/c is was a little less $$ (and thus less fancy) than the fancier places in the same area. We had a great stay and would stay again.”

“I had a great view of the water from my room. Service was a little slow--ie. room wasn't ready, housekeeping took a long time to bring things up--but overall it was a really good stay. Front desk service was very attentive. The restaurant on site was pretty good too!! I would definitely stay again as it's so close to the boardwalk and to all things in Santa Monica.”

“This review is to acknowledge the excellence of Emil, our server, who enhanced my visit with my dear friend I hadn’t seen in a year. His attention and advice for wines and food took our time to the next level. He was always there to refill our glass with a smile and ask if there was anything more required. Also, replacing our delicious cucumbers and potato chips.Bravo! He is an incredible brand ambassador that makes me not only want to return but recommend the Fairmont lobby to everyone.Plus, we are tough critics who have lived in LA for 36 years and been in the film and tv industry for decades, it takes a lot to impress. We were just thinking of have a drink or two but when he brought the wine list there was a joy to him that made us feel more celebratory so we ordered a good bottle of champagne. We thought we would have a drink and move to a local restaurant but we just kept wanting to staying and ordered food since we were so well taken care of we couldn’t think of a place that would be better, so what could have been a small tab turned into a much larger one because we felt so well taken care of and having the best time not wanting to leave and even ordering more champagne after we finished the bottle. That is exceptional.Emil enhanced our reunion and he is the gold standard.”

“Last summer I went to L.A and after I left Santa Barbara here’s where I went. It’s perfect to stay. I got room 500 and that’s one of the luxury rooms so I paid extra to get it done. Wi-Fi was actually ok because in the hotels I’ve been to it’s not good apart from this. I had a bath in the bath and I managed to turn round the tv so I could watch it. I went to Burger Lounge, 5 minutes away and it was an amazing stay.It was a very good experience and I’m going to try my best to try American language so the sea view I had was good. The pull-out couch *sofa was very comfortable and I always have loads of energy so that was relaxing. I recommend here. 5 stars.”
