“I’m writing this to give my appreciation to Tristan. On May 14th i went to celebrate my birthday in the OC area. My phone had died and since I’m not from the area I rely on navigation to make my way around places. I got lost trying to find my way home and had no luck at all. With my phone being dead I had no directions to get home. After driving for a long time in the dark at almost 1:00 in the morning , feeling completely lost not knowing where I was, I decided to stop at the first hotel I came across to ask for help. I ended up at this hotel. When I got to the front desk I was greeted by Tristan. I explained my situation and he didn’t hesitate to help me by letting me use a charger to get my phone back to the battery it needed. He made me feel very welcomed and kept assuring me I’m okay and that I’m going to make it back home. Tristan also provided me with water as well which I really appreciated , and offered me anything to eat in case I was hungry. Before I left I thanked him so much for what he did for me and that it meant the whole world to me. He made my birthday 100 times better and thanks to him I was able to get home safe. He gave me a couple pieces of chocolate for my birthday which really made me happier. Tristan is truly an amazing person and anyone who meets him is blessed to cross paths with him. Thank you Tristan for helping me make it back home. I appreciate you more than words can explain.”

“Very cool surfer vibe. Don’t go here if you are expecting a Marriott experience. This place is an experience. Right next to the Main Street where everything is at.

It is noisy in your room as the cantina is directly above you, but that is part of the charm.

The Cantina is cool and the food is very good and the prices are very reasonable.

Take an adventure once in a while!

I did. ?”

“Everything was beautiful. They are very pet friendly. Meaning you can take the dogs to the pool and they’ll bring them out a bed. They’re not allowed on the pool chairs but totally understandable for health reasons. My pet peeve is spending a lot of money for a dog friendly hotel that’s not really dog friendly. So I appreciate the Montage. Vince I’m assuming who was the manager was outstanding in making my party and I feel the love from the resort. Kate was also so welcoming. Really the whole staff. The spa attendants were so nice. I do like that they have a spa pool that’s separate from the family pool. Plus the spa pool is adults only. So you don’t have to worry about bringing a mommy swimsuit if you don’t want to ?. The rooms had a nice clean and fresh feeling to them. I will definitely be back. Thanks Vince ❤️”

“I spent a couple of nights at the Waldorf this last weekend and had the most exceptional stay. The rooms were beautiful, and comfortable. Victoria helped me book the fireside patio room which was so relaxing in the evening and mornings.Everyone from the front desk, to the bar and restaurants we're friendly and helpful and all very genuine in their assistance. We took advantage of borrowing a bike, some lovely pool time, delicious drinks at a couple of the bars and beachside dinner.Without a doubt, I will certainly be back!”

“Great hotel with focus on making sure you are comfy while there! Loved the breakfast buffet - so much choice and a chef cooking omelettes to order - all part of the stay!5pm wine and snacks every evening was a good touch too - not restricted and fresh nibbles and cheesesThe staff apart from the grumpy old man on the front desk) are so friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are happy and the housekeeping was superb! It has a pool and great spa tub and pretty gardens to sit out side with too and stores and restaurants in east distance. I’ve got my company to use this hotel for all our flying visits now - loved it!”

“I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Capri Laguna on the Beach Hotel, and it was an experience I won't soon forget. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and a very welcoming staff (Bashir and Nick), setting the tone for a delightful stay. The hotel is perfectly situated right on the beach, offering stunning ocean views. The sound of the waves provided a relaxing soundtrack to our vacation, and the easy beach access meant we could enjoy morning strolls and sunset walks without any hassle. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a serene and indulgent beach vacation. We can’t wait to return!”

“Overall we had a really good experience at this Ritz Carlton. The service is excellent and every single staff member is pleasant and helpful. We were there during the President’s Day long weekend and it was incredible busy. The hotel grounds are super nice and the gym has the best view (Pacific Ocean) hands down of any I’ve been at. Wonderful meals at Raya and Kahani under separate reviews. Easy access to beach via short (steep) walk or using beach shuttle. Room is a little small and ‘coastal’ view is not much of one. Valet gets very crowded and is pretty expensive.”

What a space!Walkability: Promenade runs straight in front of the hotel and down to the beach and centre.Noteworthy details: Parking is easy, just turn right off the main road into the hotel parking.Don't miss wine hour from 5-6pm, by the pool firepit!”

“First I want to point out that the Tides does not put bogus add on charges for parking or resort fees. When comparing prices you will find other properties are almost double after fees.

The Tides looks great. Everything is taken care of. The grounds are perfect. The pool area looks great.

Check in was very easy. The desk clerk was very nice.

The room was clean and modern. The bed was perfect.

We have found our new Laguna spot.”

“Not much more one can ask. Place is ideal, huge oceanfront balcony can't be beat. Rooms were clean, nicely equipped kitchen, just an ideal environment where you really don't care to leave your room much.. Reception staff fantastic!
Not fault of the hotel, but you do need to close front doors & windows @ night unless you want to jump up in middle of the night from train sounds. You have the back windows & a/c to choose from instead. One recommendation to hotel staff is to ask the room cleaners & otherwise to lower down their walkie talkies & be mindful when passing by guest bedrooms, I wasn't happy being awakened by them & not being able to sleep again because of it. The cleaners are super loud & have their walkie talkies blasted to max volume. Plz fix this problem! Look forward to our next trip with my girls!”

“I don't care what anyone else says. This is the most wholesome, comfortable, and most excellent hotel. The rooms are so nice with all the necessary amenities, the food is lovely, and the staff goes out of their way to get to know you and help you. It is an animal-friendly environment; everyone is kind, and the views are amazing. 11/10 experience

Walkability: SUPER close to downtown Dana Point and all of the beaches!”

“We’ve done some traveling through our timeshare and the stay at the Four Seasons Pacifica was done through trading at II. We stayed in 3 bed, 2 car garage unit(Las Brisas). The view, quality kitchen equipments, and spacious unit made our vacation a dream. It was definitely one of the best experience we had! Looking forward to go back, when it is available through II again.Just want to mention that it is not a hotel, but a small 5 unit condo type accommodation.”

“So much character, clean and the friendliest service. Steps away from the beach and a rooftop restaurant overlooking the ocean and the beautiful city of Laguna! Let the Karen Haters Hate, this place is Great. This place is a gem and I can't wait for our next future stays!”

“One of the best beach hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Right across from the beach with plenty of amazing restaurants and activities nearby. The rooms were amazing with our balconies facing right towards the ocean. The view and locale is stunning, and accommodations were perfect in my opinion. Customer service at the front counter were also a very memorable aspect, shout out to D.J., he deserves a raise 100%. He took care of any issues, questions, and last minute changes we might have had. The price for these stunning views and amazing rooms were more than reasonable, and I would absolutely come here again. 10/10 stay”

“Rooms: Our room had an ocean view with private porch area and chairs. The space was furnished with beach-modern furniture, was exceptionally clean, freshly remodeled, and had books to read — no tV! Relaxing and unplugging was perfect!

Walkability: Close to restaurants, shops, bars, and on the ocean! No car needed!

Noteworthy details: Fantastic view, great designed rooms, easy beach access!”

“We have stayed here twice, and have had a great experience each time. This most recent trip, Patrick made all of the difference. Although they could use a little extra cleaning help, overall the service was excellent, and the employees were all friendly. The pool was also heated while we were there, and the continental breakfast was nice. Crescent Bay Beach across the street, the nearby convenient trolley stop to get into town, and the Stop-and-Go mart all made staying just outside of the main area of town worth it. It was pure bliss, and really -- I can't say enough about Patrick, and how inclusive he is of everyone. If you don't mind a little imperfection and quirkiness, you'll love this place. I want to say it is that sweet spot between hotel and charming motel, and I really appreciate the ways they try to be green.”

“Overall not particularly impressed, but you get what you pay for.

Pros:
- reasonably updated room
- comfortable plush bed
- clean upon arrival

Cons:
- location not ideal…right across from the highway, not scenic or quiet
- could hear the upstairs guests walking around the whole time
- the only window in the room views out to the exterior hallway…only options are blackout curtains or zero privacy (this place could really benefit from some sheer window curtains!)
- slow WiFi, struggled to videoconference and stream

Food & drinks: The donut place across the street is quite good”

“Loved the whirlpool in my room there was even a tv right above to watch movies and relax in jacuzzi. Room was great very clean and it was an enjoyable stay. Many restaurants to choose from just a walk away.”

“I overall enjoyed my stay here, and I would come back in the future.

Pros: location is 10/10, it’s right on the beach and there are several beach access points within a 5 minute walk

Hotel was pretty budget friendly compared to others in the area

Patio area (for ocean view) is pretty large, and we had a great view of the ocean

Free parking! We never had issues finding a space either.

Cons: there was construction going on during the day, but I didn’t notice it too much. The hotel is also right on the PCH so there is some noise from that. I wore earplugs and I was good to go for sleep

Housekeeping was pretty light, they really only brought new towels and took the trash. There was also a slight opening in the bathroom window that caused some small bugs to get in, but it wasn’t many so it wasn’t that big of a deal

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is super cute and the area is great.”

“Really nice cottage in a great location! Friendly and uncomplicated contact. Great amenities, clean, good value for money (given that California is very expensive and other locations that were not nearly as nice had about the same asking price).Rooms: Two levels, lower level had kitchenette and dining table, upper level had living room, bedroom and bathroom with bathtub.”

“As other reviewers have said, the hotel was under construction during our stay but it didn’t bother us at all. Very cute clean small beach hotel. Room was recently remodeled, very clean and quiet except for a few times when people were in the pool. We booked last minute so to get a room facing the ocean, we had to be right off the pool. Other reviewers complain about things like no breakfast, but they don’t advertise that breakfast is provided and there are plenty of breakfast restaurants a few steps away. Who cares that the temporary lobby is a small room off the parking garage. We came for the beach, not to hang out in the lobby. Great location, next to fabulous beautiful walking path on a cliff. Would love to come back especially when construction is done.”

“We had to spend a night in the area and the hotel was in a convenient location. We checked in late at night and checked out early morning. The room was spacious and very clean. We really didn’t experience anything else to rate.”

3.8 Good45 Reviews

“Recently remodeled, this quaint hotel is a little gem. The room we stayed in was small but super clean (no carpets, which at first was weird but then I realized how much sense it makes). It also has a flatscreen TV, mini refrigerator and blow dryer. Everything is so clean! Each side of the bed has its own outlet and night stand. Also included is a bench. No dresser or desk so counter space is limited. It’s a bit noisy and we could hear our neighbors through the wall but everyone staying here did not make loud noises during the night so it wasn’t an issue.

Did I mention how clean the room is?

There’s a community kitchen where you can make yourself a Keurig cup of coffee, get some hot Lipton tea, filtered water, and microwave some food. There’s even an electric burner but I didn’t explore for a pot or pan. Not unexpectedly, the kitchen was clean too.

Joyce, the owner, and husband Dave, are so kind and friendly. They care about this place and providing quality service, which is obvious by all the little (and big) details (decor, free samples throughout the property, cleanliness ? etc). During the summer, they said they provide boogie boards.

It’s a one mile walk to the beach and there are also eating establishments within walking distance. Plenty more restaurants within a short drive too.

Glad we found this place and if we are in San Clemente, we would definitely stay here again.”

“Had a great time at Holiday Inn Express in San Clemente. The room was clean and quiet, which I loved. Breakfast was good. It's only a 5-minute drive to San Clemente beach, which was awesome. Everything was nice, and I'd definitely stay there again!”
