The Empuppyporium
6511 Arlington Blvd D, RichmondI cannot say enough positive things about Ben and his crew. They treat our dog Barry like their very own, and Barry is so excited every time we approach the front door of Empuppyporium that he literally barrels through the door to jump into Ben's arms. The staff is professional, warm, and friendly. The facility is clean, the dogs have plenty of water and a giant picture window to sunbathe in, and they also have an outdoor covered dog run. Never a dull moment for these dogs.
I appreciate the reasonable prices and the flexibility Ben offers in pick-up and drop-off times. It's clear that Ben runs his business based on his core values and his commitment to the community he operates his business in. He will treat you and your dog like both a client and a neighbor. Highly recommend!!!

Doggy Dog Grooming
12718 San Pablo Ave, RichmondShaneeka was great handling my dog. Got him to stay still to clip his toenails while most other places would manhandled him. She has my dog finished within the hour and he's looking clean, happy and smelling good. Glad I found her.

Pet Care
Animal Fix Clinic (formerly Fix Our Ferals)
12226 San Pablo Ave, RichmondI had two of my French Bulldogs spayed at AFC on 4/8/2024. To say the least, I was very nervous as brachiocephalic breeds, run a higher chance of complications with and from anesthesia. Because of this, most low cost spay/neuter clinics, including local shelters will not accept Frenchies or other brachiocephalic breeds. However, not only did AFC accept my girls, Dr. Goh and her team took EXCEPTIONAL care of both of them! The organization of the entire clinic is stellar, from scheduling (only done online around mid month, so may be a bit of a wait to get an appointment), to drop off and pick up! One of my girls, Paris, bounced right back to normal within 5-6 hrs after picking her up,(I believe a bit too soon), because of this, I was worried about my other girl, London, who took almost 2 days to start acting like herself again. Needless to say, Dr. Goh was absolutely caring, responsive and patient with my after hour concerns. I would like to mention that AFC is a nonprofit clinic who is accepting donations and also has a GoFundMe to help sponsor the move to their new location. If you are local to this wonderful organization, they can also use old newspapers and other types of donations.

Richmond Veterinary Hospital
4704 Macdonald Ave, RichmondI used to help run a non kill shelter for twenty years and know a good vet when I see one. I started coming here about four years ago and have been super happy with the care of my dogs and cats. Dr. Kwon is very in touch with my animals, is an excellent diagnostician (he cured a horrendous dog skin issue that two specialists and $3000 could not help), a skilled surgeon (pets recover quickly without pain and scars are minimal) and has reasonable prices. Everyone has had staffing issues since Covid, but this hospital has a compassionate full staff and there is a sign on the counter that explains some of the new folks are in training. I recommend this vet without hesitation.

The Backyard
205 Cutting Blvd, RichmondWhat a hidden gem! Cute outdoor area and perfect when it's a hot summer day. Richmond can get cold so definitely bring a jacket. The parking lot is on dirt/rocky area. Their bathrooms are situated just outside, except not a porta-potty. The vibe is cozy. Nice background music, a little stage, and some games set up for anyone to play. They serve beer and burgers mostly. The service is self-serve and you pick up the food once the pager goes off. The food is delicious! Probably one of the best burgers I've had. They have hanging lights and things so I bet at night it's pretty too. We got too cold since we didn't bring jackets so didn't stay to see the sun go down. This is definitely on my list to return too. I hope to come back when they have live music too.

Maya Taqueria
130 Railroad Ave, RichmondLiterally a hidden gem! After a hot sauna with friends, we decided to check this place out. I wasn’t even hungry and was pretty skeptical, so my bf and I started with only 4 tacos. However after the first bite, I was completely won over by the flavor and the incredibly tender pork so I ended up ordering every flavor on the menu, and each one was just as impressive. Especially in this super duper inflated world, where else can you find $1 chips and $3 tacos? Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic, affordable, and unbelievably delicious ?

H&J's Restaurant
10841 San Pablo Ave, RichmondWhat a great breakfast spot that we recently discovered. It gets crowded by 9AM with regulars and bigger parties. The staff are attentive and friendly. Parking is easy in the neighborhood and in their own parking lot. it's a casual diner which is always our fave for a breakfast spot. The menu is extensive and I love that they have "The Js" favorite dishes. Of course I picked the "Jenna's Favorite" which was light yet filling. Simple egg omelete with avocado and bacon. The breakfast potatoes were yummy and seasoned really well. It pairs well with the sour cream which is usually a dallop on top of the potatoes, however, I asked for it on the side. The homemade biscuits are soft and huge! Their house jam is chunky and not too sweet. This definitely made a permanent spot in our breakfast to-go list!

Krispy Krunchy Chicken
1205 Fred Jackson Way, RichmondI am thoroughly impressed with the Krispy Krunchy Chicken spot located inside my local convenience store. Its close proximity to my residence makes it a convenient dining option, enhanced by the availability of various snacks and essentials within the store itself. The staff at this establishment are efficient and courteous, ensuring prompt service without compromising on quality. The chicken here consistently exceeds my expectations, always cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. I am particularly fond of their honey mustard dipping sauce, which adds a delightful tanginess to the crispy chicken. Additionally, the jambalaya stands out as a highlight on the menu, offering a perfect balance of spice and flavor. The honey biscuits and honey blueberry biscuits are delectable accompaniments to the chicken, while the potato wedges are a hit with my kids for their quick and satisfying snack. Personally, I recommend the chicken tenders for their juicy tenderness and exceptional taste. In conclusion, Krispy Krunchy Chicken provides a delightful dining experience with its flavorful offerings and efficient service. Whether you're in the mood for crispy chicken tenders or a spicy jambalaya, this spot has something to satisfy every palate. I highly recommend giving it a try for a truly enjoyable dining experience.
