“I'm so in love with this community treasure. Run by dedicated volunteers, many of them former teachers or librarians, the staff are kind, helpful and knowledgable. They are recycling children's books throughout the community and world to the people that need them most, spreading a love of literacy and knowledge along the way. I'm full of gratitude to the people who make EBCBP work!”

“My son thrives at Berkeley Hills Nursery School and we could not be happier! The teachers and the director have 10 - 20+ years of experience. I trust them 100% as experts in their field to help nurture and develop my son.My son does well at this small school, with an intimate group of friends. Because of the low student to teacher ratio, the teachers are very familiar with my son as a unique individual. The director, Kathleen, is top-notch, easy to work with, and very involved with the kids. Kathleen makes our parent "tasks" easy: applying was free and simple, enrollment steps were clear, and daily communication is concise (made even easier through an app).I like that teachers lead activities for the whole group of kids. The play-based activities get my son moving and learning. For example, today the kiddos moved through an obstacle course that helped them with balance, and fine and gross motor skills. They also do art, yoga, and walks in the neighborhood.Lastly, we have a strong parent community, with adult and family social events. We are so happy to have found this gem in the hills!”

“Ya know that old cliche about feeding a man a fish versus teaching him to fish? So he can eat forever? That's kinda what Spokeland is like. Maybe it would be easier to pay someone to fix my bike for me, but then I would have to keep on doing that every time something goes wrong. At Spokeland, instead of doing repairs for you, they let you do it yourself but give you helpful guidance throughout. I now know much more about fixing my own bike thanks to these awesome people! I've come here to fix a flat, change out a cassette, and tune up my brakes. The volunteers that run Spokeland have been helpful and friendly every time. Sometimes things can take a while cause they're understaffed and don't have many open hours (a few hours Tu/Th evenings and Sunday afternoons). This is fine. They're volunteer-run and can only help so many people at once. Plus the vibes are welcoming, so it's not a bad place to spend a while! In addition to providing knowledge and a workshop space, Spokeland has lotsa parts and used bikes for sale. Think I saw some helmets too. I believe they also offer classes on occasion. Not sure how often these actually happen, but they seem to range from bike basics up to more advanced concepts and look super helpful. The best part of Spokeland is their determination to make bikes accessible for all. If you don't have the money, you can volunteer to pay off your shop time. And if you prefer to use money, it's super affordable. I've been twice, fixed several things on my bike, and only paid $10 total. Not bad for to get moving again and gain bike knowledge that will help me maintain my bike-friendly lifestyle long-term!”

“NACA is such a powerful organization. They are providing everyday people the opportunity and service to be a homeowner through these challenging times. Ellen Peterson is my lending counselor and she's the best. She walks you through every step and provides clear instructions on what I need to do to complete my process. I highly recommend NACA and Ellen.”

“Recares is a place where disabled people who don't have much, from diapers, pads , walkers, incontinence supplies etc.. The people who donate the supplies are people who have lost their loved ones or just had too much on hand. Maybe their patient or family member didn't need any longer. I've been grateful enough to support many people in this journey of caregiving. I support Recares and all they do to reach out to others and give, this is important work. I've been a healthcare worker for 55 years and I started with Recares about 2013, helping so many others, trying to get supplies when every necessary. Thanks to all the various Volunteers that have helped to keep Rcares open, to continue its valuable help with the community, they are very much appreciated.Continue to give this organization as much as you can by donating the dollars that you know you would have had to spend if you had gone to the store or the people who have donated have spent their hard-earned money for the products from givers. Please keep Recares going do the work, we should also.Erica ?”

“Every once and a blue moon I'll come in here and be reminded of the power of good books and music. The excitement of finding exactly what I need to read and or listen to. This place is pure magic and I'm so grateful that it's here and we get to enjoy it time and time again. A reminder that great things can be found on the cheap. Books that can change our lives or at the very least, our thinking, are indeed accessible.”

“The management let me stored some of my clothes at the basement. The last time I have checked the box, I found that some of the clothes are missing plus there are one or two clothes that weren’t mine. I got sick after the exposure… I mean if you steal… that the last thing I should expect but please don’t play your dirty game. Not sure who did these but less likely the management and kitchen/volunteers.I wonder why the admin/manager lets someone rather than staff staying on the premise after and between open hour. Those are usually coming from one group and not diverse. That leads to the problem if someone has lost something, there is no other way to think who did rather than targeting to this group. If you let someone into the premise, then let everyone else in to, too, for the sake of everyone now will look after everyone else belonging.I tested Positive for covid after I open the box with the dirty underwear/ or unidentified object that the clothes thief may leave into my clothes box. Minding you I were find a moment before that I slept outside the coldness and woke up without any trouble. This is a murdering act because if I didn’t have vaccines and optimism mind, having covid is like a dead sentence. Now who could I sue? Why these people keeps killing my hope while I try to surviving?”

“This place runs mostly on volunteers. The best I can figure is they get food from grocery stores and such that's not fit for display ( I think the term is "reclaimed food") and distribute it to various charitiesThey also distribute clothing and things like that. Check them out.”

“I've been attending SCC for almost 6 years now, and have been so blessed to call it home. When I moved to the Bay Area, I visited multiple churches to find where God was calling me to stay. I knew this was the place after my first visit. I was welcomed by loving people from all walks of life with open arms. This church is a beautiful mosaic of different cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds where no one person feels less important than the other. I'm so glad I found a real community of believers, who I can turn to for anything, as we pursue our calling together. SCC is rooted in scripture, powerful worship and the belief in Christ as our savior.”
