This was a great experience for my son. It's low cost and completely worth it. The parking lot looks completely packed when you arrive, but the train rides are not so long that the parents eventually come out and vacate the lot for the next set of families.

They give free rides on miniature locomotives. The engineers are all totally amazing and happy to chat with you about their craft! The passionate guy we spoke to had been part of the club for 59 years.

A fun low-cost activity for kids and families, featuring rides on miniature steam trains along a well-maintained track with woodland views. Great for kids with an interest in machines and fun for adults with an interest in miniature and model railroads.
Non profit train club for gauges 7-1/2" and below (steam, gas, electric, mechanical). Located right next to the Redwood Valley Railroad. Open for public rides on Sundays for adults and kids. Rides are donation based. Club member meetings 10am every second Sunday of the month.
