“First time at Habitat for Humanity ReStores, a non-profit organization that helps people in need build new houses. I always wanted to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity but never got the chance.Habitat for Humanity ReStores is perfect for anyone who wants to remodel their home but lacks the funding. Most of the products here are donated and are super affordable. The money or "so-called profits" goes back to helping the organization. Win-win! Ok I'm tired. Go check them out when you get the chance.”

“It's like getting into a treasure room. Jocelyn's (the owner) goal is and always was to have a free store, but she needs to pay the store's rent so she does plant sales. I don't know anybody more knowledgeable about plants than her, I got mine from her ages ago and they're thriving. Free UP is open only on Sundays now from 12pm to 3pm. Definitely one of my favorite places.”

“I would highly recommend coming here! The owner Michael is nice and the store is really clean. All of the clothing was sorted by color and it was very well organized. We liked looking through all the racks, all of the clothes were great quality and there was something there for everyone. The prices were also extremely fair. I will definitely come back the next time I am in Berkeley!”

“What a great business. The woman who helped me was knowledgeable, and relaxed but attentive. She knew exactly which questions to ask in order to get me what I needed, in and out of the store, within 30 minutes. Their warehouse selection is just enough they'd have whatever you need mannequin-related, but not overwhelming, and no merchandise in poor condition. I paid $80 out the door for a 3/4 mannequin in good condition, with detachable arms and stand, an excellent value. They had a class going on which looked fun, and I was low-key jealous I couldn't stop and make a headdress too. The women's attitudes who were working were totally welcoming and from the little interaction I had, I can tell they'd, and their store, would be amazing resources for various projects.”

“I called and asked if they accept donations. The response was that they are very choosy about which items they accept. I only have collector items so I didn't think they would refuse my items. They accepted the ones I brought. I'll leave a pic of one of the African Masks I gave them.”

“Always some fun new rotating items! Makes me feel like I’m at the able sisters shop from animal crossing with their displays changing. The staff/volunteers are friendly and make good conversation. Decently priced home goods too!”

“Purchased a musical instrument from The Salvation Army - Oakland Online Store, which I received via UPS. A plastic bottle of liquid conditioner was packaged in a ZipLoc bag along with two instruction manuals. Unfortunately, the liquid leaked inside the bag during shipping and badly damaged both paper manuals. After I submitted photos of the damaged manuals, The Salvation Army credited my account for them. I really appreciate their response on this issue!”

“Great help from the staff. I needed a walker for my Mom but didn't see any until I asked. Debra showed me where there were and helped me pick the right kind. She understood what I was going through with my Mom and made getting the walker enjoyable. A few minutes of compassion made my day since sometimes you feel alone when it comes to caring for your sick parents. Thank you for your support Debra. This place is fantastic I always receive excellent service from everyone and I appreciate all the volunteers”

“This thrift store is better than I imagined. I had been in the area for other reasons and after those were complete, I decided to check out the local thrift stores. This was the second one I went to. I got some great items, from new games to designer shoes and clothing. I definitely plan to come again. The prices are a little high but honestly, the stuff I purchased was worth it.”

“First of all, I am grateful that stores like this exist. As other reviewers said it is a bit chaotic in there, but there is a rhyme and reason to how everything is organized. Although the selection is small, they do have every size for both boys and girls and the condition of everything I've seen from clothes, to shoes, toys, gear, and books has always been good to great. I've never left without finding something wonderful. I think the prices are very fair, maybe a dollar or two above thrift stores, sometimes on par with thrift stores. I have both purchased things for my son, and sold baby gear (clothes, swings, a pack n play) that he's outgrown. She is currently only giving store credit, which again I totally understand as I imagine retail is rough right now. A phone number would be helpful as I always want to check before loading up bigger items, but she's always been open during store hours and I have never regretted a trip down. Also it would be great if you could share what you're currently in need of, so regulars could more regularly pop in with new inventory.”

There are lots of toys for kids of all ages.I went there looking for a choker necklace. However, I found a beautiful bracelet and lightweight animal print shawl. They have lots of helpful volunteers. “The store was clean and organized. The merchandise were clean and in good shape. I especially loved their book section. It was very organized and easy to browse as they were alphabetized by the author's last name. The team members were friendly and helpful.”

“This is my fave consignment shop!!! I found a beautiful crystal necklace that I will wear on one of my next adventures--oohlala! I also found some boots and a jacket that my friend might like. Divine Consign has lots of very unique items--clothing including jackets and coats, jeweiry, hats, and shoes that you probably won't find any of your friends have. They accept items for consignment, but it is important to ask Joy what they are taking before cleaning out your closet. They are a high-end consignment shop that we are fortunate to have these days. Go in to get presents for your friends or for giving a gift for yourself!!!”

“Great store, amazing finds, supporting an all women business is a win for me! Plus they had what I was looking for for my Christmas shopping list! It’s a circular economy- less waste in our landfill, affordable items for my wallet, repurposed items going to a good home and supporting single moms all while keeping our dollars in Oakland.”

“AMAZING. They have so many good finds vintage, new, and y2k. You definitely have to hunt but it's worth it. They have cute little carts you can push around which are convenient. I got like 20 things for $60 which was a steal. Very good color tag deals and low low prices. Apparently you can coupon online for more savings! HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING ETC.”

“I love Harbor House and everything they do in the community and this thrift store is just one more awesome thing they offer. They have a variety of clothes for children from casual to some dressy clothes, summer and winter wear, and we even picked up some socks and underwear that were actually new. Plus I think all the proceeds just goes back into all the programs they're running for the neighborhood. Win win!”

“I work in HIV and I am pleased about this agency/retailer meeting and giving back to the community in a practical tangible way. The color-coordination and organization is extremely pleasing to the eye, making it much more easy to shop. Items are great quality, it’s clean, and spacious. My kids like thrifting so this is a great choice.”

“This is the best place to donate. It's a good cause and the volunteers keep the shop clean and maintain a good vibe. They are starting to price a bit high. Some things are higher priced than new in the store. Other than price they get a 5”

“DBFL is a wonderful place to shop for quality pre-owned goods. They carry women's, men's and children's apparel, accessories, home goods, toys, books, and a variety of other miscellaneous treasures. I always find the staff friendly and helpful.  It's a very fun place to shop, and best of all, the proceeds support the schools!”
