“Pros:Customer Service person was so nice and answered every question I asked very well.Cons: After approving my new car loan and walking into the dealership to close the deal. the car dealership tried to reach the bank on couple of occasions without any succes.I would have said the dealership was not been truthfull because they were trying to have me finance with them. but I had already experienced it myself for the last couple of weeks. trying to reach the bank was so tidous not to mention endless attempts trying to log into my own account all in the name of some merger or update. I eventualy went back in to finance with the dealership for my peace of mind.This was a horrible experience”

“I go out of my way just to come to the branch in Pinole,CA. When you call the number listed online you get to speak to someone instead of a machine which is unheard of. Only downside is no matter how much money you have in your account whether it is $3,000-$3,000,000, for the first year you can only use $3000 on your card of it per day. So a home remodel you will have to be a check if over 3k.”
“This place can't get enough stars! I've banked here since I was 16. Let's just say I'm a long time customers. I appreciate the small town banks, they know your name and you are in and out. There's never a line and you feel welcomed. If you've been banking at the big branches, it's time for you to rethink it.”

“Still seems to be a fine bank, but I do almost everything online. Their recent offer of savings accounts was in fact what I wanted but kept forgetting. The transition when Bank of the West was acquired was a little rough, UI and API access was tricky The North Berkeley location is great, with the small parking lot, especially nice for disabled customers. When they were Bank of the West, I liked seeing the local merchants come in to bank, depositing cash and talking with the staff. The people were helpful, I hope they're still there. They don't send tons of paper or electronic marketing messages.”

“Excellent service. I came in very frustrated and upset after a different branch told me I had to call in to get my problem solved and then when I called in, they said I had to go to an actual bank. So I go up to the teller here and explain my problem. He didn't seem to know how to help and I was all ready to be dismissed and I needed to call in, but instead he asked someone else who told me a banker had to deal with it. Giao worked with me for nearly two hours trying to get my account figured out and was perfectly professional and very friendly. It ended up not being a solvable thing but Giao gave it his all, worked with the branch manager and helped me find a decent solution. Thank you Giao, thank you Brij and thank you to the teller I spoke to initially who I forgot to get the name of. 11/10, would recommend.”

“As banks go, I've been pretty happy with Mechanics Bank. One of the few that allow Recipient Payee accounts. Also have an IRA CD that I can deposit to. It seems each branch is very slow paced. Be prepared to spend some time there.”

“I visited this location on 5/11 was immediately met with an unfriendly face that tried to turn me away really fast without even trying to get me help. As i was preparing my leave a banker by Eric approached and was able to help me out above and beyond. The first banker told me they were busy for the next 2 days and Eric tells me he can get me in and even was about to stay late to help me figure my account and got me another appointment the next day to finish everything. “I've been a member of this credit union since 1997, when it was originally called Contra Costa Federal Credit Union. I've always felt like my money was safe with this credit union, the fees are good and the service has been great!Just last week, I was locked out of my account when I entered the incorrect password online too many times. Although this was a hassle, I also realized that this lock-out feature is designed to keep my money safe. The very next day, before I even had time to call 1st Nor Cal to have my account un-locked, a representative made a pre-emptive phone call, informing me that he had already unlocked my account and it was good to go. You can't imagine how grateful I was for that call!I will continue to use 1st Nor Cal through retirement, as they have done very well by me.”
