“The produce is amazing! The tea and bulk section always has something new to me! The purple potatoes I got here the last time were amazing. I hope there is tea leaf salad the next time I come!”

3120 Sacramento St, Berkeley“sometimes you forget humanity is here in the Bay Area. Here I was reminded through a lovely French Algerian immigrant family. When I asked about the tea they had, the woman communicated, through gestures and pointing, how she makes her own tea: green tea (Sultan brand), mint, cloves, cinnamon. Everything which is available at the store. Can’t wait!”
“I love Berkeley Bowl because they have fabulous fruits and vegetables - - both organic and conventional. They are really on top of their produce. There are lots of people working there to keep it clean. They have discounted produce that is super ripe--ready to take home and use.I prefer going early in the morning when it's less crowded. I find their aisles to be rather narrow when someone is coming the opposite direction. It can be hard to socially distance in their isles. They have lots of variety. They have fresh fish (wild and farmed) and meat (organic and conventional). I have found the butchers to be friendly and helpful. If you are a senior, they will give you a good cup of coffee (part of my morning ritual if I am there in the morning). They have a very nice bakery if you have a sweet tooth.Their cheese section has cheese from around the world. Besides the bakery with wonderful tasting desserts, they have fresh bread. There deli has Asian foods, Mexican, and desserts. During Covid times--take out only. They clean their shopping carts between uses, and don't let too many people in at once. You put your own groceries into your own bag--unless you buy a paper bag and they then bag it for you.For me, it is kind of a cross between a coop and a large grocery store. I love what they have to offer!!!”
“No battles for parking (use the Safeway lot) - veggies at Yasi -bread at La Farine - vino from Vino and round out your mini trip to France with coffee at Coles. If you try you can hear footsteps on cobblestone.”
“I shopped here all the time as a student since my apartment was nearby.
It gets very busy with students at the beginning of semesters and in the afternoon, but usually it’s navigable.
The frozen dumplings and frozen shu mai were life savers for me.
Lots of healthy prepared meals when I was in a pinch, as well as quality ingredients and fun specialty seasonal foods.
Their honey crisp apple scented candles are amazing, and I bought several so I wouldn’t run out.
The produce was always well priced, and I always got bananas and bell peppers here. When prices were going up in so many stores it felt like I could still rely on this shop.”

“Every time I stop in the shattuck market, I find exactly what I’m looking for! The dates are always current… yesterday the milk had a much better date than at the bigger stores! The veggies even look fresh… yay!”
“Stopped by today for a few snack items. I got a banana and a yogurt drink for 3.99. The banana was fresh and the yogurt drink was good as well. The have a little section where they sell sandwiches and tamales. They have a wide variety of drinks and food items (both refrigerated, frozen, and dry). They also sell school supplies. I wish I had more time to look around but I will definitely visit again. Employees were kind and they take EBT!”
“Easy and convenient. Walking distance from UCB and across the street from the BART.It was awkward to see security patrol around and at cash, but just do your own thing.”
“open to the public (don't have to be a student), accepts EBT/Calfresh! and of course great warm-hearted students running it :)fruits, veggies, ready meals, kombucha, olipop, 'n more! though, it's a tiny shop.”
“City Lee's Market in Berkeley is a hidden gem! This quaint bodega offers a great selection of products. From fresh produce to specialty items, they have it all. The staff is friendly and helpful. A must-visit for unique finds. Five stars!”
“tl;dr: well-stocked market with standout bakery and easy navigation.
Had a pleasant shopping experience at this grocery store. The wide, accessible aisles made browsing a breeze, and I appreciated the diverse brand selection across departments.
What really caught my attention was their bakery section - the fresh-baked goods were a cut above typical supermarket offerings.
The staff seemed genuinely interested in helping customers find what they needed. This place strikes a nice balance between variety and convenience.”
“Great Restaurants, amazing Staff front staff and the kitchen staff too. Thanks???Highly recommend this placeI don’t eat there that much but I’m happy in every thing I bought from there.
