Pet Stores & Supplies

Pet Food Express
2661 Blanding Ave, AlamedaThe best place in the Bay for food, toys, treats, whenever you need for your pet. I also use their self-service bath, which is included in their buy 3 get 1 free deal, and it's so much easier on your back than a bathtub. Plus, they support animal shelters and rescues all over the Bay Area. Great products and I just love this company too.

Marina Village Veterinary
943 Marina Village Pkwy, AlamedaThe vets & the staff are very sensitive and were incredibly kind and accommodating when my late dog was very sick, even when things got a little gross. They also gave so many treats & cuddles to my puppy during vaccinations that she truly loves going to the vet, even after seeing her brother so sick there. They seem a little pricey but it’s worth it to me.

Providence Veterinary Hospital
2304 Pacific Ave, AlamedaI’ve been here twice and I’ve had great experiences both times. The vets do a thorough job of checking out my animal, take time to listen to what I say, and don’t rush through anything. I leave here, confident that my pet was examined thoroughly and with clear advice from the vets, no uncertainty about what I was actually told or what happens next.

Pet Sitting & Training

Doggy Doggy at Kitshouse
2058 San Jose Ave, AlamedaMy dog Chewy (a Yorkie) has been coming here every day for a few years. I work long hours away from home, and it gives me joy to know he’s living a great life during the day. He gets cuddles, walks, attention, and he gets to explore Kit’s beautiful garden. The prices are competitive, too.

doodlecakes
647 Central Ave, AlamedaThis place went above and beyond for my husband’s birthday cake. He has a dairy intolerance and I had a hard time finding a bakery with good reviews, great pricing , and the ability to make the cake close to the inspiration photo. I was sooooo excited to have found doodle cakes! I didn’t even have to go in person to order. Which worked out perfect for my busy schedule. I sent them my inspo pics via text and added some more details on how I pictured the end result and it came out sooo good. I ordered a vanilla cake with fresh strawberry filling. Taste was great and you you couldn’t even tell it was dairy free. Cake was moist as well. Will definitely order from here again! 100000% recommend

SIGNAL Coffee Roasters
1536 Webster St, AlamedaUbe latte is fantastic, and the outdoor area is really cozy. The only downside is the 4PM closing time. I’d stop by much more often if they stayed open later.

Moxie
1640 Park St, AlamedaLoved my experience at Moxie Steakhouse! The staff was warm and attentive, the food was top-notch, and every drink was mixed to perfection. Everything came out flavorful and beautifully prepared.
I didn’t get a chance to try their desserts, but I saw them being served to other guests and they looked amazing — I’ll definitely be trying them next time.
I highly recommend you check it out!

Dashe Cellars
1951 Monarch Street Hangar 25, AlamedaOut fishing with the family and decided to walk over. It was Saturday 5:30pm and sign showed that it closes 6:30pm but as we were entering, servers appeared to be cleaning up. It turns out the shop next door was closing but Dashe was still open for tasting, though no longer offering food.
Pam welcomed us and invited us to have a seat on the patio. We enjoyed a flight of white wines and a glass of red, while admiring the SF skyline. All very good! What a hidden gem! We would definitely come back!

tahina
1650 Park St, AlamedaLove this place! Everything is so delicious. Absolutely need to get the sauces (green and red). Everyone is always kind. Got the chicken wrap most recently and it was perfect. Located in the Marketplace. Lots of parking in the back.

Town Tavern
1437 Park St, AlamedaSolid vibes. Passed by here and said “woah this place looks cool.” And a man sitting outside said, “come on by”. Come back to find him again, seems he’s the manager or owner possibly?
We fully enjoyed our experience. Sat at the bar and got to see all the drinks being made and made conversation with the friendly bartender. They have a wide variety of cocktails and mocktails which we tried out and the ahi tuna sliders.
The only minuscule drawback was the acoustics of the place. I think it would’ve really made it a true 5/5 on ambience if there was a bit more noise dampening ceiling and wall structures.

Humble Sea Brewing Co. | Alameda Point
2350 Saratoga St #164, AlamedaI think this is a really easy going brewery, in a cool neighborhood, with good beer and regularly update their menu. They often do collabs with other breweries. They have even opened other locations. Their food trucks don’t seem to be popular. Benches outside can benefit from some shade. There a tiny dog enclosure close by.

Island Cat Resources and Adoption
AlamedaThis is such a wonderful organization. Penni, the adoption coordinator, was extremely responsive and helpful with setting up a visit. Unfortunately the cat I was going to visit ended up getting adopted by another family but the foster person, Merry, listened closely to what I was looking for and introduced me to a number of different cats in her care. The cat that Penni suggested ended up choosing me and that settled the matter! That was two years ago and it's easily one of the best things I've ever done.Note: Cats are cared for by fosters which means they tend to be better socialized and receive much more individual attention. This also means there is not a single shelter location, hence the lack of address! The adoption process begins on their website with an application. If you pass the initial screening, the coordinator will set up an appointment and give you the address to meet the cat at the foster home. Please do not let the negative reviews about the address deter you. This is an established organization with 30 years of experience and their process prioritizes the wellbeing of their cats!
