Skagit Gleaners is a community cooperative food recovery program dedicated to empowering families through sustainability and resilience. The organization addresses food waste and its environmental impacts while promoting an equitable food system. Many families have found Skagit Gleaners to be a significant support during difficult times, providing food, clothing, and even holiday meal items. Members can shop for a small fee, with options to volunteer in exchange for access to food and other resources. Volunteer opportunities include gleaning seasonal fruits and helping sort clothes, making it easy for members to contribute. The cooperative fosters a strong sense of community, with a welcoming atmosphere and supportive staff. Those who participate often express gratitude for the available resources, including baked goods and used books for children. Even with limited hours and occasional low food donations, Skagit Gleaners ensures that there is enough for everyone, creating a positive environment for all involved. This program is an invaluable resource for those on tight food budgets, offering significant savings compared to traditional grocery shopping while promoting community spirit and volunteerism.
Great organization! I have donated two car loads of household goods and clothes. Sweat people, very helpful and accommodating. Will continue to donate in one way or another for sure!

Great sense of community. If you are on a tight food budget, check out Gleaners. Either pay $70 a month to shop 3 times a week or $40 and volunteer 4 hours a month. Each shop gets you easily what $70 will get you at the grocery store each time you shop. Glean on my friends:)
