606 Fawcett Ave, Tacoma“We love this volunteer run theater. The staff is fun, food is reasonably priced, and they use real butter on their popcorn. They show many interesting movies that are not available at the big chain theaters. Also, the Corina bakery next door has gluten free options available.”
“Stall #1 & it's part Morgan Steen was beautiful especially when it's nice tail was brushed by it's owner. Brush looked like the one I used to brush a tail form at a rehab center. And wearing it's nice horse blanket. Carrots were great & the crunch of that sound when that white Morgan crunched down on that big carrot. I should stop by there again & visit with it's owner. Ummmmm!”
“The entire staff that I’ve had the opportunity to interact with has been very polite, helpful and professional. Working with AMVETS, in particular my VSO representative Victoria Burgess, has been a great experience. I would recommend this organization to any service member or veteran who needs assistance with the VA.”

“Living in Tacoma, this tool library is a hidden gem, especially for those tackling projects in the charm-filled houses from the 1900s. During COVID, it became our lifeline for refinishing original hardwood floors. While a website may be missing in 2023, their social media and linktree make connecting a breeze. The affordability of tools combined with the community spirit makes this resource truly awesome, contributing to the enhancement of our neighborhoods. Highly recommended for DIY enthusiasts!”
“I went for a pre-op procedure and the staff, technician and Dr. Were very compassionate. She explained everything they were doing and made me feel at ease. My surgeon said they did a great job and was able to preform the surgery well! Thank you!”

“Tacoma, WA has an ugly stain in its history. Fueled by an economic depression in the late 1800s that depleted the job market, the unemployed and frustrated workers blamed the Chinese immigrants. The Chinese became targets of violent rallies and riots. The local leaders and lawmen were happy to oblige with these scapegoat antics, creating and enforcing laws that limited the rights of the Chinese. On Oct 3, 1885, a mandate was created demanding the Chinese leave Tacoma by the first of November. In fear of their lives, many Chinese left, but more than 200 chose to stay. On November 3, 1885, an organized mob of armed men, led by the mayor of Tacoma, forcibly evicted the remaining Chinese from the city. They were marched eight miles to the Lake View train station where the Chinese waited all night in the rain without shelter. The next morning, armed guards loaded them onto trains bound for Portland. While indictments were filed against 27 men including the mayor, they were overturned, reinstated, and overturned again in 1886. None were ever held accountable. The Chinese Reconciliation Project Foundation (CRPF) was founded in 1994 to provide a historical memory and healing of this tragic expulsion of the Chinese people from Tacoma. This park is a result of their efforts. Located by Commencement Bay, the park is a work in progress though funding remains limited. The map of the park at the entrance identify multiple markings for future features. At the moment, the pavilion is the most prominent structure at the park. It is named the Fuzhou Ting, a gift from Tacoma's sister city of Fuzhou, China. The word Ting means pavilion. The white color bridge is called the String of Pearls Bridge. Several stone carvings express "Path of Expulsion". Multiple signages explain the history and purpose of this park. I have high hopes that this park will be fully completed and well maintained in the future years. This history needs to be remembered to prevent future tragedies. It clearly wasn't learned yet when the Japanese were rounded up. The influx of immigrants will continue in this country, and we need to protect their rights. As is, there was vandalism leaving burnt markings in the mouth of one of the foo dogs, while the other foo dog has overgrown brush covering it that has not been properly trimmed. The site is beautiful and makes for a short or slow walk, depending on how many signs you read. Benches and boulders that face the water provide great picnic spots. Parking was plentiful. You can also park along Ruston Way.”
“Wonderful folks here! Great prices for good quality equipment! My partner needed a knee scooter and they had it ready to try the minute we walked through the door. It was a seamless process and we were in and out in just a few minutes. The scooter is exactly what my partner needed! We are so thankful for MHSS!”
“We found the price for almost stuffs such as clothes, accessories, pet bed, small table with affordable prices. However the used items seem pretty worn out That is why we have donated here instead of another popular organization which also got donated items but selling with the price of new item /or unreasonable price. This will contribute a small part to the varieties of items to this store.. We are sure to think about donating some money as well.”

1501 Pacific Ave # 400, Tacoma“Hello again everyone,I called the 211 phone number to check into rental assistance. This is the first time I've ever done this so I was unsure about how things were going to proceed. The godfather was pleasant enough I was really a little disenchanted with the whole service I thought they actually provided some rental assistance but they're really just provide and push you off on other third-party vendors to try to have you call and find help. I'm sure they' re open source for information however they did absolutely nothing for me.”

“I am thankful to this center on behalf of my son. He is so much happier now because the center provides a safe and supportive environment to meet up and make friends, to learn some adulting skills, to have fun outings, and to advise on needed services. They have meet-ups for the middle school kids and young adults several times a week, and they also do outdoor activities together. We are new to the area, and I am grateful to have find out this center. My son's general life outlook is so much more optimistic because he found this incredible support group. Thank you for everything you do in the community!”
“I went for a poetry reading and q&a. Wonderful experience. Such an oasis to just relax.Playground: I didn’t see a “proper” playground. There is water, waterfalls, mud, dirt, sticks, and fresh air; all the things kids need to play with. ?Restrooms: My understanding is that there is one unisex bathroom in the main house.”
