After guaranteeing delivery date they proceeded to delay arrival by 5 days on a cross state move. Pod was never even sent out on the set date because a form was missing. Meanwhile you will get emails every single day asking you to accept the rental agreement even though you already have. Rather than notifying you about missing documents. Customer service can’t do anything because everything goes through their corporate system. You better hope nothing goes wrong because if it does they will leave you hanging. Go to U-pack instead

USE UHAUL, THEY CAN HANDLE THE SERVICES THEY OFFER. This PODS experience has been really upsetting and costly. My fiancé and I used PODS to move our 1 br apartment and since our POD arrived at the De Moines facility, our move has been a nightmare. There is no accountability or accurate tracking for pick up and drop off. We have been at the mercy of a chain of apathetic customer service and delivery representatives. They missed every estimated pick up and drop off window by HOURS. This has cost us hundreds in cancelled movers and time off of work due to limited availability on PODS behalf. I will never recommend using this PODS facility or PODS in general. When I explained my misfortune to a customer service rep, they said it was my bad that I took the estimate window to be accurate. I am very disappointed in this expensive and time consuming service.

Used PODS for a cross country move and head a one-star experience. Problems included not placing container where it had been placed previously, not picking up on time and leaving it on the street for multiple days, and dropping the container while placing it. Customer service was friendly but not helpful in resolution. I will not use them again, nor recommend them.

I wanted to use this service because of the convenience of having the pod in my driveway. I was told I could have it for up to a month before I would be charged again for another month. I would just have to call on the 3rd week to schedule the pickup the following week. So that's what I did. Lo and behold I was charged another months rent (over $400). Apparently you are charged still even though you don't have the container and it's in transit. I wasn't told this and they "looked into it" and found no fault on their end of course. The next problem was that it was supposed to be delivered on a certain date. I had filled out everything I was supposed to when I ordered the container in the first place, and they had me fill out another gypsy moth form when they were looking into my extra storage charge. When I called the day it was supposed to be delivered, they said it wasn't going to be delivered that day, but 5 days later because the gypsy moth form wasn't filled out till later. I am so disgusted with this service. I think they are dragging this out so they can get another month's rent from me. I will never use this service again!

Do not use this service if you are moving from an apartment to another apartment. They will put the burden of figuring out the logistics on you. Customer service is responsive and they will call you (incessantly) until an issue is resolved, but they don't offer any helpful solutions - you will have to figure out the solutions to ask for.

This is the worst experience I've ever had with a company.PODS increased my transit cost by over $1600 when I needed to adjust the destination location from Cincinnati to Louisville, even though the distance traveled from Seattle to Louisville is almost exactly the same.Distance PODS Seattle to PODS Cincinnati: 2343Distance PODS Seattle to PODS Louisville: 2344I did extensive research when looking for a moving company and ultimately chose PODS because they were able to price match the quotes from two other companies (upack and pack rat).My final destination was in flux between Cincinnati and Louisville when I left Seattle. Regarding PODS, I was not concerned because the distance from Seattle is essentially the same. Suddenly, my transit cost increases by over $1600 when I request Louisville. At that time, the service rep required me to pay the extra cost to get my POD moving, but was confident I would be reimbursed when my case was reviewed.Since then, my "customer advocate" has dismissed my reimbursement request and "closed" my case without ever speaking with me to understand the context of the situation. This is pure thievery. If I had known this to be the outcome, I would have picked up my belongings from Cincinnati and driven them to Louisville myself at a fraction of the additional cost PODS charged me. I am requesting that PODS look at my case and reimburse me the extra transport mileage cost I was forced to pay.Sep 22 transport mileage quote: $2529.13Oct 19 transport mileage charged: $4175.14Extra charge: $1646.01Customer ID: 166202791Order Number: 4338612Case Number: 01137773

We used PODS to move within the city of Seattle. I can see PODs as an option in the rural areas, but it doesn't work well in very urban setting where parking is a challenge. It requires too much coordination to make sure the street is available for deliveries:1. It costs almost $900 just to get two city permits to close the streets at the two locations. When we called, the representative was not upfront about the costs (though I admit it's very clear on the website) and we felt misled. We provided our credit card number without knowing the final costs. The PODs service itself is less than $400. It would be a lot cheaper to get U-Haul for an in-city move.2. On the day the driver was supposed to show up, they changed the delivery multiple times and ended up not showing up. My partner had to take a day off and was waiting in the rain for a whole day to make sure no cars will block the street. It's very stressful because people ignore the "No Parking" signs, and we were the one who was supposed to call the towing company. All these made it a highly stressful day. 3. With all the missing deliveries, we ended up having only 2 days to pack everything though we originally scheduled for a week. Very stressful to say the least.4. The permit puller didn't get us a 24-hour "No Parking" It's only until 6pm daily. Very odd. So right before 6pm cars would take the parking spots making delivery impossible causing a lot of anxiety.5. Once we went through the first delivery, the drop off and final pick up were a lot smoother since we learnt the lessons and coordinated with the neighbors ahead of the time.In summary, a highly stressful experience. There is too much to coordinate if you have never done it. I would not recommend using PODS in an urban setting where city permits are needed to close off streets and where street parking is challenging.

Moved my father from Minneapolis to Seattle; Minneapolis pick up had some complications - partly due to us not getting the POD loaded for pick up and the driver came at the very first part of the pick up window. We needed about 30 more minutes, so the driver was kind enough to say he'd come back toward the end of our window. We were done and ready for pick up well within that time however the driver didn't come back and the POD ended up sitting in a handicapped parking spot for two more days before it got picked up.It arrived in the area in 4 days (I have an air tag in it so I know EXACTLY when it arrived), but PODS refused to allow me to request an early delivery. It's been sitting at their storage place for almost a week now. When I could have had it delivered and unloaded...In addition we have movers scheduled to unload the POD on the day of its arrival because it is landing in on a busy street with in a high crime area. They won't give you a "delivery window" until between 6 PM and 9 PM the night before delivery..."how the heck are you supposed to plan" I asked the agent... the answer "don't schedule movers the same day as the POD arrival".So..lesson learned - don't hire PODS unless you have a safe landing spot or a limited scheduled the day of the POD arrival or see that the pod arrived early and want to get your stuff..I would recommend hiring a moving company from start to finish rather than trying to save some money with this method.

Used a container for temporary storage until we decided what to do with our belongings. Ultimately, it was more cost efficient to rent a self storage than to rent a PODS container for storage. Ran into some issues with billing and scheduling a re-delivery of the POD by customer service. Trying to get a container from a set location was a hassle and we had to go to the other nearest location closest to our address which was undesired and out of control for Seattle Management.Service with the Seattle location was wonderful and customer service from the drivers was good. The manager was able to help get a POD setup for initial delivery.

They are a scam. Plain and simple. The entire process is convoluted and confusing. The booking agent did not communicate the process well at all which resulted in me waiting an extra 2 weeks for my pod. This resulted in me paying an extra $350 for an entire month's rental even though it only went over by a couple days. At no point was it explained that after I scheduled for my pod to be picked up I also need to schedule for it to be delivered to it's final destination. Why would I assume that it would just sit in a warehouse nearby when I already gave them the destination when I booked?? They were expecting me to be psychic and it cost me a lot. Not to mention I had to live in my new apartment for 2 weeks with nothing to my name other than what was in my suitcase. When I contacted customer support the agent said it happens all the time. Turns out my friend had the exact same issue a few months ago. The dispute center took weeks to respond and basically told me it was my fault and won't even waive the extra month fee. That's just pure greed and seems intentional. Moving is stressful enough and I thought getting a pod would simplify things but it made it MUCH WORSE!

I was a little surprised to read all the bad reviews of PODS. My experience was generally pretty good. First of all, PODS is a great solution to a common moving situation: you need to move out of your old house before you have a new place to move in to. The typical solution would be to either hire a moving company to move move your stuff in to storage facility or rent a truck and do it yourself. Either way, it's either a lot of money or a lot of work since you are touching your stuff four times. With PODS you only touch it twice. In addition you have a lot more flexibility in terms of time to load and unload your stuff since you can keep the POD as long as you want. I also found the POD fees to be very competitive with renting a self-storage space. The PODS website is very easy to use and flexible when I needed to make changes to pick-up/drop-off dates. I rented 3 PODS, all dropped-off and picked-up at different times, so a total of 12 different times. All but one were within the stated window and the one that wasn't was only a few minutes late. However, despite what they tell you, you do need to be there when they do the drop-off because there is paperwork they want you to sign (more on that below). My one quibble is that PODS isn't very transparent on their physical requirements for the pick-up and drop-off locations. The PODS technology is remarkable however it requires reasonably flat streets and driveways. I lived on a steep street but had a reasonably flat driveway. I also wanted to have two of the three PODS delivered at the same time. In reading the pick-up/drop-off site criteria on their website my house appeared to meet the requirements, although it was tight. When I made the reservations I went out of my way to describe my house to the telephone representative who assured me that it would be OK. I was concerned enough that about a week before the first delivery I called again to confirm that it would be acceptable. However when the first truck arrived to drop off the POD the driver told me that, not only would it not accommodate two PODS, he wasn't even sure whether they could do one! Ultimately he figured it out and I thought I was home free and I had enough slack in my moving schedule to be able to load the PODS one at a time rather than two then one. However when the second POD arrived the driver was even more concerned than the first and made me sign a liability waiver before he would drop-off the POD. This was the first I had heard of it and felt I had no choice but to sign. At the end of the day it worked-out fine but there were some tense moments. It would have been a disaster if they had refused to deliver the containers as I was committed to a moving schedule and would not have had time to make alternative arrangements. The saving grace in all of that is that prior to my POD delivery I was contacted by the local management team so I had someone to reach out to if necessary. They were very helpful and easy to get a hold of. I will say that the local PODS employees were openly critical of the national call center people that handle your initial reservation saying that they had no knowledge of the actual delivery logistics so had a tendency to agree to situations that were problematic. That said, the local on-the-ground people were great and worked hard to find a way to make it work. So, in summary, PODS is great but be aware that it's not for everyone. If you have a completely flat street and driveway, you're home free. If you don't, you need to think hard aboiut whether PODS will work. I'm not sure how you assure yourself of this though. As I mentioned, I went out of my way to try and make sure my site was OK but there were still issues. Perhaps it would be possible to get the call center people to put you in touch with the local folks who know what they're doing. Lastly, be aware of the fact that even if your pick-up location is OK you have to be comfortable that your ultimate delivery location will be too.

My experience with PODS was good. I needed to store my belongings in between jobs and then move 2000 miles across the country (TX to WA). PODs was the easiest and most convenient moving option for my situation. Everything went very smoothly with timing, delivery, and pick up and there was minimal shifting of my items in the POD. None of my items were damaged. I am very pleased with PODs and would recommend them to friends/family!

I recently utilized PODS for my move and experienced a mixed bag of service quality. On the positive side, the delivery of the pod was on time, and the driver who brought it was both professional and experienced, adeptly placing the POD in a parallel parking spot in the city. However, the pickup process was deeply frustrating. An inexperienced driver was dispatched who, despite the unique challenges of a downtown Portland location, couldn't manage to retrieve the POD. This left my belongings vulnerable on a busy street. When I approached PODS for a solution, I hoped for them to dispatch a more seasoned driver immediately. Instead, I was met with a rescheduling for three days later. Consequently, the delivery to my new residence got pushed back from 5 to 10 days. This oversight has cost me time, peace of mind, and money. I've had to reschedule movers, prolong my hotel stay, and even incur unexpected costs, like buying prescription dog food, as my stock was packed away.I urge potential customers to not only heed my experience but to also take note of how PODS responds to negative feedback. A cursory glance reveals generic and indifferent responses to valid criticisms. A company's true colors shine in how they handle problems, and in this instance, PODS has left much to be desired. If considering a move, I'd recommend exploring alternatives before booking with PODS.

We booked a Pod to move our stuff out of state and had our movers load it up at the South Seattle location. The whole process was seamless. Customer Service made booking the Pod easy. When we arrived at Pods, we called the number on the door and our Pod was brought out in 5 minutes so we could load it. They delivered to our home in another state on the day we had picked. After we emptied the Pod, they picked it back up. It turned out to be half the cost of using cross country movers. We would definitely do it again.
