“Thao was very courteous and kind. She was the exact opposite of mean people at Potomac Falls. Will always go to this location in the future for any passport or other shipping needs.”

“Staff here are friendly and helpful. USPS is challenged by its scale and the complexities of modern logistics which results in a less than ideal - and expensive - customer experience. But I feel I need to cut some slack for all the good things USPS does.”

“Love this office because it has several self serve postal machines. Staff is lovely and helpful. Also love the parcel lock box system so that you can pick up after hours.”

“I love this post office. The workers there are so nice. The Merrifield location literally kicked me out because they could not get my fingerprints to work and the staff at this location were really patient and save me. Thank you!!!”

“I had an issue not being able to open a Parcel mailbox when the delivery driver put a live animal delivery in there so I went to this post office to get the problem resolved. The staff were very kind, understanding, and had a sense of urgency. I was able to get my package out safely that day even though it was right when they were closing. Cannot thank them enough for their help!”

“Starting in roughly the first day of 2023 the lobby is closed when the associated retail location is closed. Access to the store to the post office that is is through the lobby. The Post Office boxes are accessible only in the lobby when it is open. This was done because homeless people were sleeping in the lobby overnight. There is no shelter for single people in the neighborhood. However there is a family shelter on the corner of Patrick Henry and Leesburg Pike”

“Clean, well stocked, and the female professional behind the counter today (18 Oct 22 @9:12am) was very polite and informational. Definitely looking to get a PO Box from this location.”

“Was in and out quite quickly and the lady that helped us was very helpful with any questions we had. I noticed she took time helping customers in front of us without rushing them and educating about certain facets of postal shipping currently whether it be price or which countries had restrictions in place”

“The Manager Ms. Januki is very hands on and FIRST CLASS service !!! She approached all customers who were in the long line on this weekend to see if she could assist with anything. Surprisingly they have additional special service desk. She assisted me with my money order service and some other customers in very efficient manner. Within half minute she got it done! BRAVO! Thanks for making USPS great again :) ? ? ? ❤ ? ? ?”

“Seon was super nice and helpful, I’ve never had a good experience at any postal service but she went above and beyond in her job. There was another lady working with her that seemed very helpful to the clients, didn’t get her name though.”

“This post office does allow you to hand cancel your wedding invitations or anything with a wax seal. They give you the stamp and you stamp them all and place them in a bin. Was quick and easy.”

“This 5 star review is for Lauren.I’ve been to this post office several times, and my experience today with Lauren was exceptional! She was very helpful, friendly, and ensured I was charged the right amount for stamps. Apparently I had been overcharged for stamps the previous times I came to send my wedding invitations internationally and locally. I appreciate that Lauren informed me of the international stamp, which was not mentioned by other employees the previous times. (The other times I was overcharged by at least 50 cents for stamps to send my wedding invitations internationally, and overcharged by 40 cents to send wedding invitations locally.) A note to management, please ensure that all employees let customers know of all stamp options and to not overcharge.I do appreciate that at every encounter with different postal employees, all employees hand cancelled my wedding invitations.”

“I have lived in Sterling more than 30 years and I’ve always experienced very kind service and knowledgeable assistance. I’m so sad to see their rating so low I hope that other people who have had good experiences share theirs as well. We all know saying that, “the squeaky wheel gets the oil”. I’m here to squeak a positive note for the interactions I’ve had at this post office. They are great!”

“Might I suggest having a separate area for people to browse stamps vs. At the counter it holds the line up for someone to essentially continue shopping while there are others ready to check out.Additionally, having markers available to write with instead of just ball point pens. A lot of packing material does not allow for markings with ball point pens nor does tape. Feel like it would be common sense to have markers available but apparently not.”

“Even when it's super busy, I've been greeted by staff in a friendly and helpful way. And when I've used the kiosks for mailing packages, I usually don't have to wait, or not wait long, before using.”

“4/14/2024. We checked the website, and it said passport walk-in hours from 0400-0430PM. We showed up and were told it was not updated on the website. However, Michael happily helped us out without having an appointment! Michael was accommodating. He helped us out with a big smile!Michael, if you’re reading this just so you know you’re appreciated!”

“The place was so clean and I didn’t know I needed an appointment, but thank you so much Valentina for helping me to get my passport without having any appointment. She is super kind and so sweet.”

“Once you find it next to Peet's coffee (not PNC), this place is super convenient. Take a prepaid package, scan and get a receipt. No person required. So much better than waiting for a post office to open.”

“We have visited this USPS store several times for box returns, mailing letters and most recently (mid-January 2024) for filing for US passport. At all these times, the people that work there were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and seem professional. I am surprised to see negative reviews and a low average for this USPS, because my experience has been totally positive. This is the reason why I wanted to remember to post a 5-star review for this one. I also had bad experiences at USPS stores in the past, but not at this one.More specifically, when we visited for the US passport filing, the picture taking and the documents filing seemed very easy. The person who was helping us was in a good mood and answered our questions in a welcoming way. In the passport photo taking, they showed us the way to go to a room in the other part of the store and even agreed to retake another one when we didn't like the first photo.”

“Had a great experience with the woman who processed the application for my daughter's first passport. She couldn't have been nicer, was efficient in the process, and patient as she took my daughter's photo.”

“Everyone has a bad day, but this post office is awesome. I’ve come here almost weekly over the past 10 months. I’ve found the staff and management to be mannerly, efficient, and quick. I don’t get the bad reviews. AT ALL. This one and the one in Clarksburg are the best post offices I’ve ever patronized.”

“Monica and Alexis at the Potomac post office are amazing and went above the call of duty to ensure a stressful situation was less stressful and done properly. Thank you to both of you ?”

“I have been here four times; the front employees were always polite and prompt. But I noticed they closed the gate at 4:58pm yesterday and declined service after that.”

“After reading these reviews I half expected the employees to start hurling rocks at me upon entering the building. Luckily for me my visit was perfectly fine and normal. I went in for a passport appointment and the employees who helped me were polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. No, the red carpet was not laid out before me, but everything that needed to be done got done in a timely manner and there were no rocks thrown. Remember that these USPS employees are civil servants working for a program that is bursting at the seams and experiencing unprecedented levels of understaffing. They serve hundreds of people a day, and due to the human condition, may not be feeling 100% at any given moment to say the least. Anyone who has ever worked retail can relate. A healthy dose of patience, politeness, and compassion will get you far, but some of you may need to hold a baby, or gaze upon the majesty of the stars, or contemplate our minuscule lives within the vastness of the universe before you interact with another postal worker. It’s a hard time out there - be kind to people and life will get easier, I promise.”
