The music ranges from reggaeton to Broadway, mambo to Bollywood, salsa to K-pop. No mirrors, dim lights and a well-lit stage so you can see what their feet are doing, even with people in front of you. And if dancing is not your thing, they also offer weightlifting, toning with resistance bands, stretching, kickboxing, and a dance technique class that works on flexibility and skills. They are not just group fitness, they also have foods and drinks (made in-house), and merchandise. Prices are reasonable, lower than other non-gym options, and well below what most store-front boutique fitness places charge. Did I mention friendly? If you want a back corner by yourself, there's no pressure to change that, but if you want to chat with the folks working out near you, there is a real sense of community in the room.”

“I mainly use the pool. It’s well maintained along with the hot tub and the sauna. The bathroom attendants are why I’m writing a review. They are on top of drops on the floor and are cleaning constantly. They keep the bathroom nicer than any gym I’ve ever been to. Even when it’s busy it never gets dirty. I so much appreciate them and what they do.”

“Hodges Fitness is far more than what I was expecting. Before Hodges, I did not work out. Now, I am working out every single day! Hodges provides well rounded classes: HIIT, strength training and yoga. You are building yourself physically but mentally as well. The words the coaches speak to you before, during, and after motivate you to keep going. “This place is awesome. A bit small but great staff and most importantly to me extremely clean. New machines, towel service, and usually not crowded (especially compared to other gyms in the area). If you want to avoid crowds further it’s literally open 24/7 year round, so come at off hours.”

“Work trip and dropped into Box during the week of sept 11 thru 14. The gym extremely fair with week drop in rate and the coaches are amazing, professional and helped me to correct 2 movements I was doing incorrectly. The people are great and I can’t wait to get back up to DC so I can workout with them again. If you are in the area and love positive, motivating and great program stop by this gym! “I’ll start by saying this, I’m super picky about where I go to the gym. The trainers can’t be scared to give me constructive criticism because I’m there to grow. Also, the vibes of the members have to be good. That said, I cannot recommend this place enough. The trainers have taught me so much in my time spent there. Also, the community of people is awesome. Even if they don’t know me super well, I can count on the high fives/fist bumps after class.I only left the gym because I moved to a new city and the commute became too much. But trust me, if I could pick up this gym and move it to my new city, I totally would still be a member. Highly recommend!”

“I used Bench Gym for a couple weeks while visiting for business. The staff responded quickly and communicated effectively. The gym is not large, but has everything you would need. It's located in the lobby of a commercial building, but once you figure that out, it's not difficult to locate. There was never more than two other clients when I was there, so even though it was small it never felt cramped. The workout itself was effective and efficient. They prioritized my safety (prior injury to consider) along with my workout program, which was very appreciated.”

“While I have only visited the studio via Classpass, I have always been welcomed so warmly. The workouts are excellent - variety, challenging, clean and inviting space, instructors correcting form, etc. I took a workout this year on my birthday and they celebrated me with the sweetest gestures and multiple shoutouts. This studio truly feels like a community and I tend to be the student that runs in and out. It has made me rethink other commitments to more corporate studios I am a part of, that offer good workouts but you feel like just a number. Way to go Xtend Barre, such a gem in this neighborhood and I will most definitely be back!”

“Have really loved MVMT so far!! One of the biggest things is that every instructor greets me by name. I had gone to a gym for 6 months and had to introduce myself almost every class; it’s not like that at MVMT. Plus, the 45 mins are packed with sweaty, fun, challenging movements that keep me feeling good all day. Overall a great gym with inclusive vibes. Highly recommend, especially if new to the area.”

“A great atmosphere! I’ve been coming to D1 for about 2 months now and I feel right at home. Everyone takes the time to actually get to know you and help with any fitness needs. It’s a very inviting environment and lovely place to make your fitness goals come true! When I first joined, I took the noon classes with Keith - what a fun class, however, the time did not work with my schedule. I started coming to the 6am class with Travis and let me tell you - I LOVE IT! I have found my place and my gym family. I highly recommend D1 to anyone.”

“I was here working out almost daily while I was in the DC metro area. I was very impressed with everyone of the coaches and office staff. They made billing and membership a breeze. I go to many CrossFit gyms a year due to traveling and this is by far the best one I’ve been too. I absolutely LOVE the programming Hannah does. It truly is different from all the other CrossFit’s.
