I wanted to leave a review for an experience I had with the manager on duty "Aimal Ayaubi" for my thrift car rental that I returned on 9-28-24. after a long 2 hr drive back to the airport I was flying back to my family after a rough personal trip. I accidentally left my wallet in the cup holder of the car and took the tram to the airport. thankfully I noticed that I left it and raced back to the car rental location. if it was anything else that I left I'd probably just let it go but obviously I can't fly without my ID.
I was starting to panic because I was thinking how much I didn't want to miss this flight back home and even worse if someone stole my wallet from the car I wouldn't be able to prove that they didn't. I told the front desk what happened and Aimal came to help. but he didn't just help, he went out his way searching and literally running around the lot to see where my car and wallet had gone. it was a large lot with cars getting serviced for the next customer so this wasn't a small task. he was literally sprinting around the lot from station to station to help me find my wallet and after finding the right cleaning station on the very last car he was able to find my wallet. I was on time for my flight and came home to my family after a terrible trip and im extremely thankful that Aimal went out of his way to take care of me. thank you so much

Absolutely the worth customer service!
After long flight we spent 3 hours there in order to rent a car even though we had reservation!
All people who worked there were entirely unhelpful, not knowledgeable, tried to overcharge us, didn’t apologize for them canceling our first reservation with no notification and waisting our time, were rude!
I don’t know how this company still works and how all of this employees are still working there…
Be aware!

They charged me a bogus $500 smoking cleaning fee even though I don't smoke.

I'm surprised this is part of an international car rental conglomerate; Hertz group should be ashamed and embarrassed that this operation is associated with them..... It took me 20+ min to get checked in for my reservation and there was nobody in front of me! I walked straight to a check-in agent who was a bit surly as I was trying to make friendly small talk with them. Then I was blamed for the delay because I was "early". I literally got there ~20 min before my reservation time. The car I received was unwashed, inside & out, and still had trash on the floor in the car. The car still has an "X" in dry erase marker on the rear driver side window which indicates it was fully checked in upon return and this was when it was last returned but it clearly wasn't cleaned after that. I later realized the tire pressure was significantly below the recommended pressure so I had to fix that too. The gas was listed as full on the receipt but was at the 7/8 line. I complained to the person at exit and they said they would mark it as 95% full. ?♂️I filled the car up a few minutes later and the car took 3+ gallons to get to full. The car has windshield wipers that are old enough that they just smear the water around. It also has a sticker inside stating it is a smoke free car with major penalties if you smoke in the car, however, there are clearly cigarette burns in the driver seat. I took pictures of it and let the attendant at the exit gate know because I'm sure these clowns will try to blame me. ?♂️ Also, I'm Hertz President's circle which didn't even get me friendly service. I recommend that you avoid this Mickey Mouse operation.

Overbooked and Overlooked:
Arrived at this location (June 20th, 2024), after a cross country flight, with a fully paid confirmation in hand, only to be informed that they had no cars. We were instructed to add our name to a list, which never made a difference. Hopeful customers and their luggage were spread around like a homeless encampment. They were getting a car returned every 15 to 20 minutes, to re-rent, but a shuttle bus filled with more customers was coming more frequently.
I will never attempt to rent a car from Thrifty again and recommend that you look elsewhere as well. (Two months later they apologized by email and returned our money, but still no car.) Support legislation that requires car rental agencies to report their rental denial and delay percentage and taxi fees to customers who are denied vehicles.

0 stars! The name “Thrifty” should’ve been my first red flag. The laundry list of problems I’ve experienced with this rental location is unbelievable. I will NEVER spend my hard earned money with them again.

TOURISTS FROM ABROAD: CHECK THE RENTAL TICKET VERY WELL IF YOU RENT WITH THRIFTY AT DULLES!
Thrifty has charged me for a service I did not want, profiting from good natured tourists like me who are not familiar with renting a car in the US.
I booked a car with Thrifty from a third party website. I paid in advance. At the counter I was asked if I wanted: extra insurance, toll automatic payment, etc. I said "no" to everything. I then put up my card to get the deposit deduction. All good. I get a ticket, and I see another charge of XX US$, and I thought: this must be the actual charge for the car. I paid to a third party website so did not know the actual price paid by third party to Thrifty.
Turns out the charge on the ticket (about 18 US$ / day) was extra insurance that I said I did not want! It's not clear from the ticket. It only says "LIS", liability insurance supplement. The man at the counter basically got me a service which I explicitly said I did not want.
Unfortunately, I consider impossible that he misunderstood me. It's too difficult to misunderstand a yes from a 'no', and I lived and worked in an English speaking country for several years. And I actulally even explained that my credit card has extra insurance, therefore I did NOT need Thrifty extra insurance. Therefore, I know Thrifty will say it was a misunderstanding, but I do not believe that. This is my second time renting a car in the US. First time was ok, this time was not. I am hoping it is a genuine mistake. These people at the counter work hard out there, and probably they get an incentive for any extra service they sell.
Beware out there. Luckily I have the money, and I accept the mistake that I should have asked what was the charge on the ticket. but it's painful.

An experience I want to erase from my life. Such a terrible start for a holiday! After an 11 hr international flight, we spent literally 2 hours at midnight to finally get our reserved car from Kamran! He wanted to upsell all the unnecessary extras, gave misleading information about the toll free roads and deliberately left us helpless just to make us pick a more expensive rent package. Thanks to Orit, who practically solved our problem, we could get the car after so much suffering.

Bad customer service and the employee didn’t honor the price matched which was made by customer service over phone even though it was noted on the system.

No car available!!!! No warning email, just no car on arrival. I made the booking 1 month before. The best they could do was offer a car the next day, what a load of rubbish. I went to Sixt car rental who had a car and were cheaper.

Absolute worst service / company. Not worth the trouble or cost. Had a reservation, made the pre check in, and still showed up to no car. They could call, text, email saying that earlier so one could pivot elsewhere and they choose not to. Save your time and money, many other better options. I suggest budget, their phone customer service was impecable in trying to solve our issue last minute

Returned the car with a full tank of gas, filled up at a gas station right outside the airport on 6/18/2024. Next day received a $21 gas charge. Tried to call the 800 number but could not speak to a human. The automated system directed me to an email where I have to upload a fuel receipt. Who keeps the fuel receipt! I am going to try and send them my credit card statement, before I dispute with credit card. After googling, this is very common, lots of people were charged for gas even though the tank was full.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.
My complaint is about 3 issues that make Thrifty has NO EXCUSES at all:
1. I’ve been charged for an extra fee ($360 US dollars) for an upgrade that I didn’t ask for. For your information, I repeated myself twice to your employee that there is no extra charges for giving me a bigger size than my reservation size and he replied that he offered that to me without any extra fees.
2. When I reached the exit gate, I’ve been stopped by the security because the car wasn’t registered under my name yet !!! I waited at the gate for more than 15 minutes till a different employee from Thrifty came to the gate and registered the vehicle to get me released.
3. When I sent a complaint email about the upgrade fees, I received an automated reply that the issue is going to be solved within 3 to 5 days. This was EXACTLY a week ago and I didn’t receive anything since the automated reply. When I tried to sent a follow-up email, they just IGNORED ME.
I’m really SHOCKED, Thrifty do you always IGNORES your customers as long as you get your money !!!!!!
I wish there was a zero or minus stars to rate them. I’ll keep searching for a legal way to get my money back.
Thrifty you must be RESPONSIBLE for your employee abuses.

Luke and Louis are simply valuable employees. Nice, polite, courteous. Not pushy. I rented a midsize car online and they gave me a nice Ford Expedition for a much cheaper price than online. Thank you very much. I cannot understand the bad reviews online.
