“I try to make it a habit of spending my money in small businesses and when I came across Norms beer and wine I think 20 years ago I began shopping in his store. I discovered all kinds of wonderful beers and he even had a Beer Brewing news magazine. While looking through the magazine I discovered a tournament of beers. I immediately went ahead and played the tournament trying all the beers against each other and I came to discover that Old Chubb Scotch Ale was the best of them all. Thank you Norm. “Shocked!! Stopped by to pick up a few bottles before my parents arrived in town,I grew up in the SF Bay Area, close to Napa, Sonoma, and Lodi. We usually bought wine at the wineries. Well... I'm just about out of my CA stash,The lady at the shop was super helpful, helped me choose whites and reds. We opened a bottle from Cline, I did not have high hopes. It said Contra Costa on the bottle (where I grew up!). Anyhow, it was fabulous and only $16.99.I am looking FWD to trying the rest and going back!!BTW... sandwich shop is delicious (a few doors down) and bread shop is great too. Lots of little gems in the neighborhood”

The Lady who worked there was very helpful in finding a "nearby" store which had the item in stock and also didn't hesitate to call them to make sure it is in the store. “This is my 2nd time here. The first time, was 2 years ago, I needed a couple of travel size bottles for the White Elephant gift. A lady showed me where they were. This time, I needed to get some Carolan Irish Cream for brownies. The lady there showed me where they were. I'm so happy they gave them in different sizes... 750ml $15.99 and 1 liter $19.99. The 750ml was in sale for $13.99, $2 off!! It was a little cheaper than the 1 liter bottle, so I bought 2 750ml. Will post brownies pictures later. ? The Irish cream brownies recipe is... 1 part water = 1.5 to 2 parts Carolan Irish cream. 2 parts will make the brownies very moist. You will be about to smell and taste the Irish cream if you use Carolan. Don't waste your money using Bailey's. I have already done that, and couldn't smell it taste the Irish Cream. I was told never use expensive liquor for cooking or baking. I used Tennessee Legend cream liquor before and it has a sweeter liquor taste, and make great brownies, too. I got them in TN near Gatlinburg, and we're $24.99 a bottle. If you are in the area, definitely pick some up there. They make great brownies like Carolan, with a different flavor.”

“The ABC store on Braddock isn’t the largest of the local ABC stores but it is my go-to shop. There’s no problem finding the basics and for the harder to find items, the super friendly and cheerful, curly-haired manager always takes the time to help me search—in the store or on the computer. I love stopping by and always run into other KPW neighbors there. It’s like a party before the party! Highly recommend!”

“I recently went in search of Chartreuse Green - it's a spirit used to make an iconic cocktail The Last Word - a prohibition era cocktail. Apparently, it's been somewhat of a challenge to find this spirit - as only a small amount is made by the Carthusian monks of the Grande Chartreuse monastery in France. I happened to find several Virginia ABC Stores in the 15-20 mile range from my home - so I cruised over to snag two bottles. I could not find it on the shelf - so I checked with the staff. The Chartreuse Green was stored in the back - they promptly retrieved two bottles for me - plus I restocked my supply of Luxardo Maraschino Cherry Liqueur with a fresh bottle. This particular Virginia ABC Store feels smaller than most. Paid with Apple Pay. Service was good! #VirginiaABCStore”

“A nice beer and wine store on the 28 side of Manassas, located in the Mega Mart shopping plaza. A nice alternative to Total Wine on the other side of town. Not nearly as large as Total Wine but a nice selection of craft, domestic, and international beers and most of them are refrigerated. There is a large selection of wines too but I'm not much of a wine drinker so I can't comment on the variety. They have painted and added some snack selections since they first time I went in right after they opened. The worker, who I assume is the owner, has been friendly during my visits. I will continue to patronize this local small business when I am on that side of town.”
