“Whimsies staff are so genuinely helpful and fun to work with! With two grand babies seems we can't stay away from the store. We often find a call-in phone order is easier and they gift wrap! Win win all the way ”
“Update**
I went into the store yesterday and I was amazed at how things have changed. The ladies greeted everybody that walked through the door. The lady with the green hair (I didn’t get her name) was extremely friendly. She loved the items that I brought in to sell and even thanked me for them!! She is definitely a keeper because these days excellent customer service is hard come by, and she was just naturally nice. My experience yesterday was nothing like it has been in the past. I actually felt welcomed and my pay out was well worth my time.
The past few times I have been here have been unpleasant, but I did not want to base my review solely on those interactions, so here is my honest opinion/review on my experiences over time.
When I come here, I do not expect great customer service. If I know what to expect, it just does not bother me. I am used to them acting like it hurts to speak or not speak at all or acting as if I am invisible as I stand in front of them. If I experience a friendly visit, I am shocked. It’s very rare, but it happens.
I noticed some of the reviews accusing the manager of being a racist. As a black woman myself, I do not believe that she is a racist, she is just rude sometimes. She can be nice on a good day, but most of the time she’s just rude, not racist. So don’t think she is being rude because of your race, because she’s rude to me too.
Another thing I saw others mentioned is being extremely picky buying your items, but then seeing not so good quality items on the racks, VERY TRUE! I feel like they pick and choose who they buy from. I have found some great deals on items, some things brand new and I’ve also seen stained clothes, holes, shoes so nasty and dirty being sold, but they do not want to purchase my clean named brand shoes and clothes or give me pennies for what they do buy.
I do not expect to get rich selling to them and I am grateful that I am not looking for money to pay a bill or buy groceries, because the offers that they make now since switching locations is INSANE!! The offers are a slap in the face if you ask me, but I sell to them just to get rid of kids items and make a little money while doing so. I donate what they don’t buy because I do not want to take it back with me.
All in all, I’ll probably still come in and attempt to sell to them, instead of sitting on items trying to sell online. They have no competition right now, so they can do what they want, and have the “deal with it or don’t come here” attitude. Hopefully, one day that will change, and a Once Upon A Child comes in the area.”
“Kayla, in the Cville, Va. store went above and beyond normal employee’s standards. I asked about a dress on a mannequin display and she searched all over the store to make sure that it was indeed the last one. Because the mannequin was located up high, I didn’t expect that anyone would be available to take the dress off the display right away. Kayla took the time to make it happen for me- I bought the dress- and was very impressed with her customer service. She’s def a star employee.”
“Made a trip to Plato's today. I always leave with a stack of clothes! I chatted with one of the owners today and she was super nice. I love some Plato's!”
“I was trying to find a gift for my sister who is about to have her first baby. Green Bean has the cutest clothes!!! The organic cotton options also made them feel extra special.”
