Blue Whale Books is a lovely little used bookstore located on the pedestrian mall in Charlottesville. It is a super aesthetically pleasing shop that is well organized, clean, and free of clutter with clear labels. The store offers a great selection of quality used books, focusing on historical and nonfiction literature as well as fiction. It also has a nice selection of old maps and prints for sale, including original local and country-wide maps and lithographic prints. The variety and selection are highlights, along with reasonable prices and a notable dollar-shelf. The owner and staff are always helpful, providing great customer service. While parking can sometimes be a challenge, it is a favorite and unique bookstore for finding treasures.

I’ve never been to a bookstore in central Virginia like this store until here. They’ve got a nonfiction and fiction selection of books but also have a selection of original and reprint lithographic prints of maps, anatomy, plants and birds.
