The exhibitions here are consistently punching above their weight. I hope San Antonio truly appreciates what they have in this institution. I wish there were more artist/curator talks and exhibition-associated programming, but given the scale of their operation, they're doing an outstanding job!

The Contemporary at Blue Star is San Antonio's nonprofit home for contemporary art and artists, founded for the public and artists by artists in 1986 in a grassroots movement. The Contemporary has grown to now encompass a robust calendar of onsite and offsite exhibitions, community collaborations, creative youth development programs, international exchange opportunities for artists, and public art projects.
The Contemporary presents exhibitions with artists from San Antonio and around the world sharing their global perspectives that encourage understanding, empathy, change, and action, fulfilling our mission to inspire the creative genius in us all by nurturing artists through innovative contemporary art.
