I wanted to rent a car from Avis because my previous experience was great when I went to Arizona. But this location is horrendous. Very unprofessional and rude guy was at the desk. He was unable to answer any one of my questions. The Californian homeless behave better than him. I had to rent my car from enterprise bcz The guy who was working for Avis, quoted me something but gave me a bill which was $130 dollars more which he didn’t explain.

My husband called and talked to this rental company for about an hour making sure he could rent a car through them using his grandmother's credit card as long as she was present at time of pick up, he was assured that that wouldn't be a problem and he could go ahead and reserve a car through them. Tonight he gets off his plane and meets his family and heads to over to avis to get the car to be told he could not rent the car and it'snot their responsibility that he didnt pay attention to the rules, making it out to be his fault. Tell me how you can bold face lie to someone who did their due diligence to make sure it was possible to rent a car in this manner, tell them yes, and night of pick up deny them said rental. If your phone rep had told the truth and said it wasn't possible to reserve a car this way, then fine that's the rules and we would have looked elsewhere, but instead plans were made with the understanding that it could be done in this fashion and a reservation was made. It's not right and we are very displeased with the way this situation has unfolded.

My husband and I traveled from Pennsylvania to Rapid City South Dakota, and rented an AVIS car via a third-party at a deep discount.Upon arrival, and again at check out, our experience was absolutely phenomenal. Not only was the vehicle available, but we also received an upgrade free of charge. Personnel at the Avis counter were exceptionally professional, quick to assist, and everything was handled very expediently.Really made for a wonderful trip. Would like to thank Jesse, Melissa and Richard for doing such wonderful jobs, we certainly understand it’s not always easy.. Your hard work is noticed!

Upon arrival...the clerk was absolutely rude as HELL...good luck with this place friends...???the clerk Richard needs to go to school for customer service classes and the head of Avis needs to do some overhaul of employees....??I will tell everyone who listens to NOT use this company here in Rapid City South Dakota Regional Airport..

This gentleman (Richard ) at this Avis car rental has got to be the absolute rudest agent we have ever in our entire time of dealing with Avis had to deal with and Avis has always been our preferred go to for rental cars. He asked for a return ticket or credit card we just had a debit card and in the most absolute rude voice he says I can't help you and walks away. We have never in our entire life dealt with a agent that was so rude and absolutely will not be returning to any Avis facility.

I’m Canadian and was visiting a friend in South Dakota. An unforeseen family emergency came up for my friend which required her to rent a car and drive to Ohio from rapid city. I didn’t get the guys name. I think he was the manager… he went above and beyond. In a world that seems to have gone crazy and empathy and compassion seem to be forgotten traits…..he stepped up and truly saved the day for her. This one act of kindness has made me a loyal AVIS customer for life!!!!

There is no express access for Avis Preferred customers so expect to wait an additional hour to get you car as the line is excessive and slow. This is a burden on staff as well. When I returned the car the line was even longer so this seems to be a common issue. 2 stars because the cars are right next to the terminal so if there is not a line it would be much better.

DOUBLE CHECK YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE SIGNING! I paid online and opted out of extra insurance, but when I picked up the car the insurance was added on and charged to my card after I dropped it off, without me being aware. Nobody mentioned the extra charges when I picked up the car, they only mentioned a hold that would drop off. I called to ask for the charge to be removed and the manager said he would “review the tapes” but never called me back. It did show on the receipt at the bottom in very tiny print, however I opted out online and I did not anticipate extras being added on when I signed. I was luckily able to do a dispute on my card. The person who gave us the car was at least nice though, and the car was good too.

Upon pickup of rental car at AVIS in Rapid City, was forced to show proof of some sort of insurance, which I couldn't on the spot and was forced to purchase a seperate insurance otherwise I wouldn't get my rental.This made the price almost about 40% higher.Never experienced this before, getting a rental car.

The service was fine, but they very much need to be staffed better during the rushes. Only had 2 attendants during a big rush after a landing, leading to long wait times. Return process was super easy, and quick though.

Although I had to wait for a car for a couple of hours, I found that the ladies behind the counter were very professional in a tough situation. Note that this shortage seems to be the rule, not the exception. Next, be aware of sticker shock on your bill: I think taxes are close to 30%. Speaking of bills, the manager Jesse, went the extra mile to help me with a billing error in my rental.

Easy peasy right at the airport. Great customer service when I forgot an item in the car after returning it. The next morning they went out to find it and held it for me until I could pick it up. Thanks!

We got hit by a deer on the highway driving to SD from CO and needless to say, rental car was trashed. Called Avis in Rapid City and Melissa was amazing! Got us into a new car right away and handled the damaged car being picked up by the tow truck. She was an absolute sweetheart and made this whole experience stress free.

This place will try to scam you. They snuck the additional coverage onto me even after I declined it clearly and ended up charging me an extra 100 bucks over what I was quoted for my reservation. AVOID!
