Horrible service. DO NOT BANK HERE. I have banked with other credit unions before this one’s is by far the worst. Bad customer service and no care for customer resolution on issues. I already know they will respond to this as “let’s talk in person” but that doesn’t do any good at all. Stay away!!

Alaina the teller inside the lobby. Was very honest and said that I have her extra money and sent it back to me. She needs a big raise and a big Christmas bonus!!!

This Team goes the Extra Mile. I am an attorney in Greenville. I am not a customer of Greenville Federal Credit Union, a debt collector sued clients of mine who are customers of GFCU. My clients were adamant that the automatic draft of payments to the debtor was in place and payments should have posted. Come to find out, it was an error by the debtor in processing their payment. The team at GFCU really went to bat for its customer. They pulled the necessary electronic data to prove my clients were telling the truth. I am proud to report that we won in court because GFCU cared about its customers. This saved them 100s of thousands of dollars. I guarantee you that big banks would not have lifted a finger to help their customer like GFCU did. With mega-banks, requests and decisions are tied up with legal counsel at some far off location. Here, GFCU was personally vested in helping their customer when it mattered most.

I opened up an account yesterday. Mainly because I was feeling the need to make more local connections in Greenville and thinking ahead to a possible car loan next year. Will compare notes side by side with my other CU (not local) and see what ends up being better.First impression was being very impressed when driving up. The Drive-thru and branch are separate buildings. The parking lot routes the flow of traffic around nicely. The branch is very spacious, and plenty of offices to help folks with their needs. I haven't found much need to enter any bank branch for quite a few years. Again quite impressed with the visuals compared to the major big banks. My visit seemed pretty routine. Just providing some information to open an account and it's open and ready to go. I didn't feel like I was being pushed into opening anything besides the required savings account for membership. The mobile phone app is solid. Better than I expected it to be. Credit Union apps aren't known to be as polished as the large bank apps. GFCU is pretty loaded with customizations.I have read some of the previous bad reviews, and I do not think they are valid enough to showcase a reason NOT to sign up with Greenville Federal. Word of mouth through All Things Greenville Facebook group raves about this place!I will update this review if I end up choosing GFCU for a loan!

Hate to be an old Fuddy-Duffy, but the branch manager of the Tanner Road branch is the most unprofessional looking employee that I have ever seen. He had on jeans that looked as though he had changed the oil in his car. He does not convey any amount of confidence. The two ladies working that day were perfectly appropriate. Janet

I absolutely love the seamless process in regard to opening a new CD. I was able to do it all online and didn't take too long at all. Thomara Mosely was very knowledgeable about the product which helped someone like me who was not well versed in this product clearly understand it. Thank you!

Unless you have tons of money in your account I do not recommend this place for someone living paycheck to paycheck. My wife has an account here for little over 5 years and had 1 little mishap that would’ve been about -$60 but instead they charged her overdraft fees for every single item that hadn’t posted for about 2-3 days. 13. 13 overdraft fees that ended up putting her almost $500 in the negative. An entire paycheck the following week since she’s direct deposit. That really hurts for family living paycheck to paycheck. So like I said. If you live paycheck to paycheck I WOULD NOT recommend this place. 3 wks later and still trying to catch up.

Wade Hampton branch ROCKS, especially Nisha Talley!! My husband and I went in to talk about our needs. We were greeted with professionalism and quickly assisted by Ms. Talley to discuss our options. The process was efficient and quick. We continue to be very satisfied members of GFCU!!! Thank you is not enough!!

Roberto spent an extended time helping us today. He was kind, patient, and knowledgeable. He was able to help us get everything on our to-do list accomplished. Chris was able to help us on the teller side of things and was also extremely patient with a longer transaction. Thanks, guys!

“Switch to a credit union.” “It will be fun!” They said. Nope. This bank is so antiquated. If you still like to balance your own checkbook because your balance doesn’t update like other banks in 2023 when you make a debit purchase, then this is the bank for you! If you don’t like today’s ability to deposit cash in an ATM, then this is the place for you. If you enjoy speaking to customer service for the many issues that you will have with this credit union to people with a language barrier only for them to hang up on you after you’ve been on the phone with them for close to an hour, then this is your place. I drove my horse and wagon up there to manually make a deposit after they opened at 0900 just like the good ole days.

Avoid this bank at all cost. Me and my wife were members for over 4 years. Why we stayed so long is because of stupidity. For the first year it was ok, then they changed their online system. Ever since then it would show we have more money then we do, things would drop off just to get taken back out and leave us negative, the overdraft fees are expensive, and they don’t stop overdrafts at all. Me and my wife would go negative 280$ before they would start stopping charges. Most of the country is paycheck to paycheck and if this is you this place is not for you, they do not care about you. Also, they’re website about loans etc, says they are there to serve their customers not make money. That whole philosophy is a lie, it should say we are here to serve you if your credit score is perfect. Multiple times we have tried to get loans here to get turned down. Went in to refinance my car, had my uncle with me who has a 740 credit score. We got turned down because of not enough payments but they tried to talk him into a membership and a credit card. What a joke. Me and my wife switched to chase bank. We love it more. They have a secured banking option, which has no overdrafts. The available balance and the present balance are updated as soon as I swipe my card etc and it both shows the same thing, unlike this bank that wouldn’t update in that way. They also block us from over drafting because we can only spend what we have. This is 2023, we shouldn’t have to balance checkbooks anymore or be worried about overspending if a bank would do it’s job. Also with the overdrafts, GFCU only allows the reversal of three. After that they won’t refund you and they don’t care if you can’t feed your family or pay bills. I asked about getting some returned when we were negative 280 and the rude lady on the phone got smart in the way she said no sir we can’t because it’s marked here we can’t. Avoid this bank and the employees. They only want your money and they only care about you if you have a good credit score. This is for the one on tanner road next to woodruff road.

Mrs. Sins was very helpful in getting my refinance loan approved. She was very professional with a twist of personal pleasantness. Thank you so much for being a great loan agent. D. Pearson

At Wade Hampton, I always receive excellent service. I recently had an outstanding experience with two of the employees. I went in for one reason and Whitney Sims offered me a better option. Kenyetta Hunter walked me through the process with care, diligence, and a positive outlook. I was blessed to encounter them.I am an extremely grateful member!

They are, for the most part, great! The one thing that upsets me trying to contact them. Rarely is there a time when I call and I am told that my wait is 15 minutes, and I am still on the phone 30+ minutes later, still waiting for someone to answer. If I use the prompt to "hold my place in line" where someone will contact me it may be hours before I get a response. Generally this isn't a huge deal, but if my card is flagged for fraud, because I crossed a state line then I may be waiting at a gas station unable to pay for the gas I pumped till I can clear this up. If this occurs after hours, during lunch, or on the weekend, you better have some backup cash or a card from an different institution.
