Seems like the place was once good BUT lately according to other reviews I’veread lately not so good. All i can say is…..People need to realize that we are saving lives and providing loving homes. Dictatorship has no place in any rescue. Additionally nobody should be charged a fee to abide by someone else rules. The world according to DRBC.Watch out too for the unsolicited emails you and your references will receive after they deem you not worthy to adopt based on an opinion of how neglected your 2 Doxies (whom lived healthy lives till they were 15 & 16 years of age) were without even talking to your references, JUST because a vet tech w/ no records (since vet updated system and dog had passed) couldn't verify a dog was on heart-worm meds 2yrs ago????? News flash - you don't need a script for heartworm meds PLUS they never even called or spoke to references about the level of care given? My experience was a complete waste of time, energy and money. There are other rescues whom have a head to think with and can figure it out without reading off a script. I have 2 new babies now no thanks to DRBC. I wish you well in your quest for a Dachshund. Great dogs these are our 4th & 5th lovebugs. Love the breed - dislike people whom can’t think for themselves.

Horrific experience! I adopted my dog 4 years ago from Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County (DRBC); that process was OK. In January I sadly had to find my dog a new home due to my new wife's allergies to pet hair and asthma. I had forgotten the DRBC agreement said you have to return dogs to them if you could no longer keep them, and I improperly posted on Facebook (the doxie owners’ group and my page). A business friend connected me with a guy I worked with as a grad assistant in the 1980s who had 5-6 doxies over 30+ years and was trying to adopt another. I went down to DC so our dogs could meet; they were instant buddies. Thankfully the doxie owner's group admin messaged me to say I should talk to DRBC, so I called their director. I didn’t realize I was violating their agreement trying to find him a home. The director advised they would use their legal counsel if they needed to, as well as that rescue personnel might just show up at my friend’s house if I gave him my dog. My goodness, what a reaction when I called her, admitted making a mistake, and wanted to rectify the situation (note that I quickly deleted my Facebook posts!). And I later shared the videos with the DRBC director. The director and I spoke and once she settled down, we reached a mutual agreement that they would not list my dog, and they would vet my friend. Several days later I drove to Philly to sadly return my little buddy to them. They said that over the weekend they’d run medical tests, which makes sense. My friend followed up with them and was advised my dog was diagnosed with Lyme disease, and they had to keep him for a month (that was four months ago now). He told me this and I shared that the medical report the director sent me in 2019 listed that my dog tested positive for Lyme before I adopted him. My friend shared this info with the director, as well as that my vet had shared it can remain in a dog's system for years and that my dog was further tested and showed no symptoms; the director's response was rude and cold, saying they would never give up a doxie for adoption if they tested positive. She needs to read the report she gave me when I adopted from them!My friend continued to follow up with the director every couple of weeks; the director typically never replied, and never shared when my friend would be vetted. My friend also shared that as of May, after DRBC getting my dog in January (I'm writing this review in May!), they had never called his vet either. This week the director finally responded to my friend and said to call. My friend has now called 4-5 times, but no response or return call. They are terrible! Continuing on their lack of responsiveness, the director has never responded to my email from weeks ago. It's now been 4+ months since they got my dog, and none of us know what is going on. How cruel for my doxie! Who knows where he is!Besides being non-responsive, unprofessional, and cold, it appears they have violated the agreement we made. Based on this, I suggest you avoid Bucks County. This experience has been extremely stressful for my friend, his wife, my wife and me. And don’t believe what they say on their website. I was shocked when I just viewed their Google reviews to see that 5 of the last 13 reviews were scores of 1, and 6 of the last 13 were 1 or 2. Plus they have a 2.5 rating on Yelp (which will drop after I posted my review). I now know why.

They get a fat Zero. Read Doug's review. No communication and not truthful at all. Worst of the worst!

Life savors! Simply amazing.Long story short, in August of 2022 our sweet doxie had a back injury and needed immediate surgery. We took her to the emergency vet right away, however surgery was not an option for us financially. After careful consideration and being up all night trying to figure out what was the best choice for our sweet baby, we gave DRBC a call as recommended by our vet.Right away we could tell there is a lot of value in the knowledge and clearly good intentions of the people working there. Jo Ann and Cindy worked with us from the very beginning and continue to be nothing but supportive & accommodating. They were able to get her in for surgery immediately with a top neurologist, which ultimately saved her life. They even offered to let us visit our puppy anytime during her recovery and continue to give us updates on her progress. So incredibly helpful and kind! You can tell they are very knowledgeable about this breed and their needs. The house is clean and organized. The dogs are well taken care of and the whole staff cares for each animal as if it were their own. Our family & I could not have been more thankful to have found this rescue. Even though we had to give her up and miss her dearly, we take comfort in knowing she received a second chance and is being well cared for. God bless DRBC and their doxies! ❤️

This place is TERRIBLE!!! The people are extremely rude.My family dog was maliciously surrendered with NO DOCUMENTATION!!! The rescue took him and adopted him without having any proof that he belonged to the person who surrendered him was his actual owner. My dog was taken and kept from my fiancé and I. We both have tried to reach out and NO responses have been made to him but only to me stating I am NOT the owner and I should stop trying.I will not stop trying until I get DUNKIN back!!! I have photos, medical records, he is chipped. This place is terrible!!! They’ve blocked me on all social media platforms, do not answer emails or return calls. Extremely unprofessional.

Horrible experience. They said we had excellent references and offered us a bonded pair. We went to meet them in this chaotic house with like 7 barking dogs, which overwhelmed my daughter. The lady who brought “our” dogs over for us to meet said that one had a respiratory infection and she had to hold them for another week. They then ghosted us and after my husband finally got ahold of someone, they said they didn’t think my daughter should have a dog. Cindy lied to my daughters face and promised her she’d bring the dogs back next week. They’re terrible.

This adoption process is nothing short of a nightmare. The rescue spoke with my vet and it all went downhill from there. I received an email from Suzanne who said that my application process could not continue as there wasn't a medication list for my dachshund that passed away last year and my current dog missed a heartworm refill. I called my vet to see what the story was and the vet told me they told the rescue that the dachshund's complete file is in storage because he is deceased. My other dog's heartworm was missed because my dachshund spent most of last year sick and eventually dying, causing immense stress for everyone. The insinuation that we are unfit or neglectful is a downright lie and is insulting.Their website is never updated with available doxies for adoption, PetFinder shows pictures of dogs that they no longer have. Facebook is the only place where they continually show videos of their intakes. Another red flag: if it's a long haired puppy, the dog gets put aside to belong to the rescue (they have FB videos of that).I returned Suzanne's email letting her know that she doesn't have to continue on with the application. No need to threaten that against me. As my vet said after I read him their email: "You do not want a dog from them".

A few months back, after my male Doxie passed away, we decided it was time to bring home a new furbaby. We filed our application and paid our $25 fee to adopt a bonded pair of boys. We were denied without any contact with our references or vet. We stated on our application we were willing to start all our dogs on heartworm meds since this was a requirement. Even though we have never had to do so with any of our other 12 adopted babies. When I attempted to contact them via email and calls, no one had the courtesy to reply. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS GROUP! They constantly claim they are in desperate need of foster/adoptions but never seem to be willing to work with potential applicants.

I paid a $25 application fee, gave a donation and contacted them several times. I was told I "HAD" to bring my current dogs to a Meet and Greet. I found this ridiculous and my dogs are very homebound and I felt this would have been very upsetting to them and I do not have a car...they do not do any transport. They told me I was not for them because of this. I informed them all my past rescues had not met me or my dogs before adoption...the rescues did transport.( I could have had a friend drive me to them but NOT with all my dogs!) I notice the dog I was interested in is STILL up for adoption! We are told to Adopt don't Shop but when it becomes impossible to find a dog to adopt due to outrageous restrictions, people WILL SHOP! I actually got my last dog from a Breeder. Incidentally , I have been taking one of my rescues to a nursing home to visit the patients., I also own a house with a big fenced backyard.Dogs Still go homeless!

filed application with $25 fee. Suzanne sent me an email to be allowed to contact Vet office so I informed Vet to give information. References were contacted and I received a phone call within a week from Suzanne as to what to expect and the cost and care. Was told that a Cindy would contact me within 3 weeks. Well 3 weeks past and no call. Went to these review and saw others were in the same situation. Also went to BBB website an saw a complaint was pressed against DRBC. And for those 5 star ratings...did you actually adopt from this organization or just commenting. I going to contact the Attorney General to do an investigation on DRBC. I don't think they have any dogs but just showing pictures of dogs they might of had at one time to get money out of people to pay for their nice house.

I am blown away by this organization's dedication and care for their rescued dogs (and their future adopters!). We recently adopted our newest member, Neuman, from the DRBC. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at this organization - Joann and Cindie were always so attentive to our dog's needs. They made sure to provide individualized care to best meet our dog's dietary and medical needs. We felt supported throughout the entire process of adopting. You can tell everyone at DRBC truly is so passionate about rescuing these dogs and making sure they are provided quality and loving life. When they say adoption matches are matches from the heart - they mean it. We felt instantly connected to our dog and forever feel grateful to this organization and everyone involved in the process! THANK YOU!

We love fostering, the application process to foster went rather quickly even with covid. They called my references, orientation was on a Thursday and by Sunday, we had our first foster pup who was adopted within 2-3 weeks! The volunteers truly love their work and are extremely knowledgeable!
