“Lovely folks that work here! They’ve never tried to upsell me and have always been very straightforward about what my car needs + very very friendly and efficient :)”
“I honestly don't know if they fixed my problem but they absolutely listened to me when given the opportunity.
I am decently aware of how to fix certain parts of cars. I came in with a crankshaft timing misalignment on bay 1 of my engine (Code P0016). After taking it to the Subaru dealership and leaving it for a week they hadn't even diagnosed the actual problem and charged me for a 150 dollar oil change which I had already previously done myself. After that did not fix the problem, I changed out the the VVT solenoid. This is 3-5 minutes of work and a $123 OEM part. The Subaru dealership wanted $750 to make this repair. They were scamming me, so I did it myself.
After this also did not fix the issue, I did some deeper research and learned that bad VVT values are frequently permanently etched into the ECM on many Subaru's at about 70k miles. This can cause check engine lights related to timing misalignments. A new ECM could cost upwards of $1000. Fortunately, newer diagnostic tools can reset those values back to factory settings. This was the fix that I felt I needed and I came to Wasp to get it done because I don't have a $600 diagnostic tool and I had heard they would listen to customers. I let them know about my requested fix but for the first day they didn't really pay attention to what I had requested and didn't really do anything to address the problem. When I called to check in on my car, it was evident that they hadn't addressed the requested fix. That said, the front desk immediately put me in touch with someone who was knowledgable and talked out the issue with me. Within a couple of hours, they did this admittedly unique fix after I emailed them a video and took my request seriously. As of now, my check engine light is clear and it cost me $150 in diagnostic fees rather than the $1000 plus it might have cost me otherwise. It may come back on but so far so good. Thank you to Carl Eng and Wasp Auto Shop for listening to my concerns.
If you have a 2015-2019 Subaru, please consider this fix if you have any issues with Variable Valve Timing and Crankshaft timing issues but aren't seeing any mechanical problems with your car (loss of power, cutting out etc.). This is a known problem with Subarus and I'm shocked that Subaru hasn't addressed it. I'd recommend doing this before going down the path of unneccesarily replacing expensive parts.”

“I've been taking my vehicles here for years and have never been disappointed. From normal maintenance to oddball things like a locked up transmission there's nothing they can't handle.”
“I have worked with Pete’s Garage for years. I really appreciate how communicative and upfront they are about the timeline for servicing your car, and what your car will need. They send an assessment with everything they find, including pictures, then hop on a call to discuss what needs to happen, then send over an itemized digital list that allows you to accept or refuse the work that needs to be done. I always feel super informed throughout, and Bryan always answers my questions thoroughly and honestly. It is the best experience I have ever had working with a mechanic.
I had Pete’s recommended to me by a local friend, and I recommend them to anyone who asks.”
“Late review.
But I had to say something after reading some of the recent negative reviews.
A ways back my ex-wife had an issue with her Dodge Caravan and got quoted an outrageous amount for a repair by a shop in downtown Raleigh.
I have a strong mechanical background and do almost 100% of my own vehicle repairs.
So she called me and asked for my opinion. After reading the quote I disagreed with the work they recommended and the prices were insane.
I decided to help her find a good shop for the current repair and any future needs.
I figured Durham shops would be cheaper than Raleigh and did a web search. I came across these folks and the reviews looked promising.
I recommended she try them and I went with her to check it out.
OK. At first I was a little concerned because the shop was on the edge of a somewhat sketchy neighborhood.
But we went on in anyway and I am glad we did; this shop was a gem to find.
As so many have commented on, these folks were very polite and attentive to our needs.
When they found that I understood mechanics they were not intimidated but explained some very likely scenarios and that they do real diagnosis before throwing parts at the problem and wasting your money.
They found the issue ( bad fuel pump ) and had it fixed next day.
The price of the repair was very reasonable. In fact if it had been my vehicle, I’d have had them do it for that price rather than doing it myself.
Over all a very impressive experience.
Real mechanics, who know how to accurately troubleshoot are a rare find.
On top of this these folks are polite and reasonable on price.
Highly recommend”
“I recently visited Quick Lube for an inspection, and I couldn't be more impressed. Tai was able to accommodate me without an appointment, and the entire process was smooth and efficient.
Tai is incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and most importantly – honest. It’s rare to find businesses that operate with such integrity these days. I even tried to offer him a tip to show my appreciation, but he politely declined, staying true to his professionalism.
Durham needs more businesses like Quick Lube and more people like Tai. If you’re looking for trustworthy and quality service, I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be returning for future services.”
“So state inspection time was coming up and my car had been showing me the check engine like (aka “you shall not pass”). Donnie and the team at Neal’s have been amazing! Navigating the multiple repairs, diagnostics, and DMV was extremely painful, but I can’t say how much I want to thank Donnie for putting in the countless hours they did to keep my beater car up and running (for a relatively little amount of money).”
“I never leave reviews, but these guys have the best customer service in the area! Was greeted by name the second I walked into the door and informed that my state inspection would be about an hour, but only ended up taking 20 mins (at 2 pm with an appt). Will definitely be back for future maintenance.”

“Quick and friendly service - I hadn’t been to this location in years but had a great experience then and now. Got an inspection and a few things replaced for a very reasonable price. They even helped me resolve some weird issues with the skid plate.”

“My wife and I purchased a CPO 2020 Lexus ES 350 from Johnson Lexus of Durham and could not be more pleased. The dealership had the exact car we were looking for and was in perfect condition. Our sales associate, Stephen Weinberg, was friendly, knowledgeable and we never felt pressured or rushed in our purchase process. Thank you Johnson Lexus of Durham!”
“Of all the times I’ve been to Durham Jiffy Lube, this is the first time I have been charged $30 for an inspection and had to purchase a wiper for $40 without any discounts.”
“Great service. Went in for an oil change and some fluid refills. The team was very accommodating and let me leave my car there for a while so I could get some errands done. They didn't try to upsell me on anything and completed the work quickly.”

“Staff at this location are super friendly and helpful. I appreciate their accurate communication on wait times. My family and I keep coming back because they take care of us. Yes, they are busy, but worth the wait. No matter what vehicle we take there, they seem to always have what we need in stock (air filters, wiper blades, etc)”
“Great experience at Jiffy Lube today. Received an oil change in a timely manner and customer service was on point. I couldn’t use the online coupon for 50% off, but the agent was able to find another one, just not 50%. I’m just Grateful for any discount in this day and time”
“Had to get an emergency oil change at WalMart because my mechanic was sick. I arrived at 8:30 or so, didn't have to wait, and they had me out in less than an hour. Everyone was friendly and courteous. I told them my mechanic was ill, so they were my Plan B. I was treated as if they were my Plan A. Thank you for taking such good care of Martin Luther (my car)! Made my holiday road trip to and back without a hitch! Yay WalMart auto services!”

“This is a great location with great, hard working employees. I presently bring 6 different cars there over a 15 year time period, but they have new management that have just instituted a $5.99 shop fee to invoices just for visiting.”
“These folks did a good bit of work on one of my cars and were always great, so when I needed an oil change for my other car and couldn't get to my specialized mechanic, I gave these folks a call...we ran into some snags with ice car's finicky nature, and these guys took care of me swiftly, courteously and handled it EXTREMELY well. As I've always said, it's easy to have great customer service up front, but when there's a snag, what happens? At Northgate Auto Service, they come through. I can confidently say you're in good hands with these guys.”
