Phydeaux
400 S Elliott Rd A1, Chapel HillEven though it is no longer locally owned, I feel the Phydeaux Chapel Hill location is a well run store with a great product selection.I have already bought several items here for my red miniature girl Dachshund, Basil. She loves her Squishmallows shark dog bed, in which I often see her snuggling, sometimes under her blanket. Basil also loves several of the toys I have bought her at Phydeaux (But, I have to be careful when buying her toys because her powerful jaws can tear apart ninety percent of dog toys within only a few minutes). Basil especially loves the cute iced dog cookies that are behind the glass case in store. I most recently bought her four of the several Halloween cookies on sale for the Halloween season. She loved every one of them! Each time I yelled, "Basil, here's one of your cookies," she very excitedly ran over to devour the cookie as fast as possible. One suggestion I would like to make to Phydeaux is to always have in stock several of the Wobble Wag Giggle balls. Basil has three of them, two for the outside and one for the inside. It is her favorite toy! She loves it so much she seems possessed by dog demons whenever she plays with it!

Doggie Spa & Day Care
1101 Dawson Rd, Chapel HillWe had a medical emergency at our house. I had to take my wife to the ER and she needed an overnight stay in the hospital. I called Doggie Spa and Day Care to see if they could take my dog overnight. It was the week of Spring Break and Easter weekend. They said they were packed but please hold on. When they came back to the phone they said bring Porter on down and we will fit him in. They always care for my dog when we are out of town. They take great care of him and he loves it there. They are the BEST!!

VCA Timberlyne Animal Hospital
110 Banks Dr, Chapel HillMy cat got very sick very fast with congestive heart failure. I brought her in to the VCA at Timberlyne after her initial diagnosis at an emergency vet. The entire staff handled Daisy and I with such expertise and compassion. It was the hardest loss I’ve ever gone through and I could not have asked for a single thing to be done differently. Dr. Pott specifically provided exponential support and medical advise and treated Daisy with gentle, genuine compassion and I won’t ever forget that. Her and the rest of the staff at this location are amazing and I would recommend them to anyone.

Pet Sitting & Training
New Hope Dog Training Center
719 New Hope Church Rd, Chapel HillI have a Jack Russell Terrier named Benny. Gene took him at 3 months for 21 days. Benny is a year old now and he’s the best guy to hang out with. He listens.. It’s not like hanging out with a drunk friend. Gene and Berk did their thing for 21 days and then they gave me three training sessions so they could also train me. It really was an awesome experience. I had a lot of anxiety about leaving Benny at 3 months old for 21 days. Gene picked up on it and put me completely at ease. He gave me a tour of the facility which was very nice and told me a lot about himself. It was easy to see that Gene loves dogs and takes his work seriously. I really enjoyed meeting Gene. I would definitely encourage you to take your puppy to Gene and Berk. Thank you Guys!!

Pet Behavior Help
5410 Wendell Rd, Chapel HillWorking with Valerie has been amazing! For a little bit of background my corgi came to her at about 1.5 years old with some progressively getting worse reactivity issues. I tried everything I could on my own but was at my wits end and really needed help. Since then I have worked with her for several months and wow what a difference! I remember crying everyday from taking my dog out for walks but now my dog and I are both building our confidence and bond with Valerie’s help. Valerie is so knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff and really takes the time to explain the why’s when it comes to training. I really recommend her as she has done so much good for my dog and I!!

Cheery Dogs, Llc
200 S Elliott Rd, Chapel HillThe trainers at Cheery Dogs are locked-in on how to train your dog with completely non-aversive methods that work. We were looking for non-aversive trainers, and they were the only ones I saw who stated on their home page that they would not be using e-collars or slip leads. Their puppy primer class is a brilliant blend of instruction and application. The trainers come around at the end of class and give feedback and support to each family. They meet you where you are and are able to help no matter your situation. We are already booked for the next level of class and are very much looking forward to working with them again.

Chapel Hill Pet Retreat
6416 Alexander Dr, Chapel HillThis pet retreat, now under terrific new ownership, is excellent! Our 80-lb dog got 3+ hours per day of time outside playing with other dogs during his boarding stay. He absolutely loved that and did not want to come home! The place is squeaky clean, the kennels are roomy, and the staff and owner could not be kinder or more professional. We also liked the relatively small number of animals housed there, making us feel that our dog was not just a number to them (as he was elsewhere). Indeed, when we picked him up, all the staff knew him by name and reported at some length about his experience (made a lot of new dog friends and some new human friends, too!). No complaints at all from our dog and our family about this pet retreat. Highly, highly recommend!

IL PALIO RESTAURANT
1505 E Franklin St, Chapel HillWe had the chefs tasting menu. It was phenomenal over all. However, there were two stand outs. They were the crispy sea scallop and the iberica pork. The scallop was very tender yet had deliciously crispy edges. The pork was incredible. I'm not sure if I would have identified as pork if I hadn't known what it was. Tender, yet meaty, it was truly a delight.

Cat Tales Cat Cafe
431 W Franklin St, Chapel HillWhat a wonderful place to visit! It's extremely easy to book a reservation online for your group. While you're not allowed to pick up the cats there are plenty of toys available to play with them. Their names and pictures are posted on the upper floor and whether or not they are pending adoption. I booked an hour for my group and it was great.

Orange County Animal Services
1601 Eubanks Rd, Chapel HillI was impressed by the kindness and care the workers showed the animals. They even have what looks like a kitty playroom, painted bright yellow; it reminded me of a daycare. The staff was sharing with me how they have a very high adoption rate; how they have adoption days where they go to local pet stores and set up in hopes of catching the eye of passersby. These and other programs assure they have very high adoption rates for adoptable pets.
