Petqua
2604 Broadway, New YorkAlways go here for any aquatic related things - large selection - in my opinion better than the name brand places - but more importantly, there’s a guy there who REALLY knows what he’s talking about when it comes to aquatic life. The whole downstairs is dedicated to it and if you need something specific or need advice he knows exactly what you need. We were looking for an addition to our aquarium that would help with too much algae, he gave us multiple suggestions, showed us the animals, and told us which were most efficient. He was also completely right. It’s so much better to have that kind of help when you care about your pets and need advice!

Furry Paws
1705 3rd Ave, New YorkFurry Paws has always been my go to for doggie merchandise. Today I was helping a friend looking for the booties for her dog for out in the cold and snow. The employee was so helpful showing me how they are packaged. She had various sizes for different breeds of dogs. It was listed on the package. They came in different colors made of a soft rubber and are disposable. She said she sells a lot of them for $19.99 a package. I left with a lot of information for my friend. It's up to her if she wants to get them or search online for a different style or price. I'm recommending Furry Paws if you live nearby. Save the puppies feet from pain in the ice and snow!

I noticed Furry Rascals while walking around and, upon entering, was impressed by the diversity of options for cat food and other products; what's more, my interaction with the employee was very pleasant. I'm excited to make this my go-to spot for pet products!

West Village Veterinary Hospital
75 8th Ave, New YorkWe HIGHLY recommend West Village Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Angela Hildenbrand. Dr. Hildenbrand is empathetic, compassionate, highly intelligent, and well-versed in veterinary care. She is also humble enough to know her limitations and help arrange appointments with specialists (the next day!) who can properly diagnose specialized issues.
Our dog, unfortunately, passed from his multiple chronic conditions, but our lasting memory of Dr. Hildenbrand will be her compassion toward our little guy. He was rapidly losing weight and had a diminished appetite in his final days, unable to lift his head due to a fast-growing mass on his neck. Without hesitation, Dr. Hildenbrand grabbed a can of food, got down on the floor, and began hand-feeding him at his level. Somehow she was able to get him to eat during our visit. It makes us tear up every time we think about it. In the nearly 15 years of our beautiful dog's life, we have never witnessed that level of compassion shown to him and us, his parents. If and when the time comes for us to get another dog, we will be seeing Dr. Hildenbrand WITHOUT A DOUBT. We enthusiastically recommend her and West Village Veterinary Hospital.

Pet Sitting & Training
Spot-On K9 Training
400 W 43rd St #33R, New YorkI called Spot-On K9 training at a time where I felt I had exhausted all of my options for my reactive 1 year and a half golden doodle, Cairo. Cairo is a very affectionate dog but has struggled with anxiety and reactivity towards other dogs since we got him at 4 months old. He would lunge and bark extremely loud in public and I could not get him under control. Cairo would not pay attention to anything I was doing in this heightened state as if he was stuck in a tunnel vision. Walking him caused me a lot of anxiety due to feeling embarrassed and even shame for not being able to control him. I started to solely rely on my backyard for his using of the bathroom and his exercise. However, I realized this was not fair to him and was not good life for a dog.
Prior to calling Stephen, Cairo had gotten kicked out of a board and train due to aggression second to his separation anxiety in less than 4 hours. I realized a board and train would not be helpful to Cairo and made the call to SOK9T. Cairo was so bad that when we had our first session in Central Park, Stephen already knew who the problematic dog was in a park full of so many dogs. Stephen just observed the first few minutes on how our dog Cairo behaved first hand. Once he made his assessment, he taught us how to train Cairo with the proper tactics. I also appreciated his honesty because he explained that even with all the training, Cairo does not have genetics on his side as anxiety is often what you get with golden doodles.
As a result of learning all the tools and tactics on obedience and how to foster bonding, Cairo has become a very obedient dog and less reactive towards people and dogs. He still has some anxiety that he may not ever 100% overcome but with the roadmap Stephen has given us, I now feel confident in helping Cairo overcome his fear and live a more fruitful life.
It is so important to find a trainer that is actually passionate about dogs and Stephen is that person who loves helping people and their beloved pets.
P.S. This picture was the first time Cairo was able to be calm in a park full of dogs and I saw the progress!☺️
Thank you Stephen!

Daycare & Dog Hotel-Grooming-Paws Gurus Harlem
303 E 110th St, New YorkWE LOVE PAWS GURUS! I first brought my dog, also known as Chief Chief to Paws Guru in January 2022. We live in The Bronx and its' so worth the travel it takes to get to East Harlem. We tried a daycare literally 8 minutes from our apartment, Malcolm wasn't haven't it. He tried to escape their gate every time and the way he would try to run out of there when I picked up, broke my heart. Paws Gurus from Day 1 has been totally different. He gets excited in the car on the way. Upon arrival, he rushes tothe door and scratches the door to let them know he has arrived. He doesn't look back when he enters. Here are the things I appreciate... 1. I TRUST Malcolm is safe. 2. I TRUST Malcolm will be fed HIS food the way I desire. 3. I TRUST the staff to engage with Malcolm throughout the day. 4. I trust Malcolm's mediciation will be administered as the vet prescribed. 5. I TRUST Malcolm has a good time. 6. I TRUST the daycare is open when they say they will be. 7. I TRUST I will be communicated with about anything that has happened throughout the day. I can't say enough about this place. As a single dog mom, it feels so good to have someone/ a place to help me with my Malcolm's care.

The Educated Dog
107 W 86th St #14D, New YorkI can't recommend Deanne enough. 4 months ago, I adopted a 5-month old puppy who had no prior training and severe leash reactivity to both dogs and people. Through working with Deanne, he now has a strong foundation in training and can walk through busy NYC streets with few issues. He also LOVES Deanne and her training sessions. Her love for dogs is so evident. Deanne focuses not only on dog training, but also on giving owners the tools they need to continue training in between sessions. She writes detailed summaries with instructions on how to progress further, and I have learned so much about dog training and behavior through her, even as a lifetime dog owner. Deanne uses a science-backed positive reinforcement approach which has been great in helping my nervous rescue pup build confidence. She constantly continues her learning through research and courses, and her passion for dogs shines through in her training. I feel so lucky to have found Deanne!

Ethical Frenchie
17 State St FL 40, New YorkI don’t usually write reviews (and this one is way overdue), but as we are contemplating getting our second Frenchie w/ TEF, I was reminded how important it is to let people know how amazing they are. Our 2 yr old pup Frida is pretty much as perfect as can be. She is calm, polite, playful, and loving, not to mention absolutely adorable! Everyone who meets her loves her and we often get stopped by people wanting to pet, compliment, and even take pictures of her. I recommend TEF to anyone thinking about getting a Frenchie (which, btw, I also highly recommend!) Muddy Paws Rescue
821 9th Ave FRNT 1, New YorkAdopting through Muddy Paws was a breeze for me! I found a new best friend a few months ago and the process went really smoothly. The form that you fill to register is a bit lengthy, but once you get through it, it happens so fast. I found myself going on their website to look at their available dogs, and when I saw Weston, I sent an email right away. I was a bit slow and I was second on the waitlist for him, but fate had other plans and I got bumped to first after the previous person cancelled. I met him and got to walk him around the block, then the staff there were available if I had any questions. After paying the fee, he officially became a member of my family and he’s been such a wonderful addition! This is the first pet I’ve ever had and I’m glad Muddy Paws allowed me to adopt and made the entire process quick and easy!

Bideawee
152 W 24th St, New YorkI adopted my puppy from the Bideawee in Manhattan. The women that worked there were an absolute joy to work with. They covered everything a new puppy owner needed to know, plus more. They told me that I needed a harness, so they gave me the one she was wearing and the matching lease. Even sent me home with a bag full of toys. I have another dog that they asked me to bring in so they could see them together and it went perfectly. I can’t say how impressed I was treated and it made my adoption process so unstressed. Now I have a beautiful new baby to love. I adopted her on 5/24, the name she had was Bridget, her new name is Eclipse.
