Hertz is a criminal enterprise. They charged us $83.97 for tolls. We went through one toll for $1. It’s INSANE!! I specifically asked the clerk about tolls and she said it’s a non-issue. Which it was (the Rainbow Bridge at Niagara Falls has a cash lane), until it wasn’t. On our way back to Buffalo at 4:30 AM, we went through a $1 toll (without warning as far as I could tell, but it was dark) and now they charged me $83.97!!!! I hate greedy corporations that do stuff like this and waste your time and try to steal your money because they have your credit card on file.
Waited nearly 45 minutes on a Thursday afternoon on a boring weekend. I looked into their gold program so we could skip the line next time, but the rental prices were about 3 times what we can get through Expedia or similar websites.
Horrible, just horrible.

Came in on the redeye and was told cars were sold out and that they couldn’t fill any of the reservations. Ended up catching a taxi downtown to hotel at 12 in the morning.

This seems to be the worst Hertz location in the world. I’m a Gold member and still had to wait over an hour on three different occasions now to pick up my rental. I rent in various locations approximately 8x a year.
Cars are ok and personnel seems friendly enough, they just don’t employ enough people to handle the volume of customers. They well know when the surges will be but still continue to ignore it. Can’t you partner with the other rental car counter agents who are sitting there doing nothing? Avis, Alamo, Dollar all had wide open counters and agents doing nothing. Big opportunity to research a collaboration effort to help each other during these surges or something.
I should add that I typically have to wash the windows in all the cars I rent from Hertz Buffalo. They are never clean and sometimes the windshield is dirty enough to be unsafe to drive with. On 2 occasions I had to run the car through a car wash to get mud off it. Was embarrassing to show up at our place of business with a car in that condition.
I promised last time to never book here again and out of habit made the mistake of doing it again. Now I’m making a note in my contact so I never forget!
You really should do better Hertz!

One person at counter, supervisor walking around acting busy, isn’t dressed in uniform, over 8+ people in line… slow service even though I’ve already check in on app. What’s the point?

Waited in line an hour and a half as presidents circle member. All other rental agencies here had no line. Hertz doesn’t know how to staff their branch relative to reservations.

Just stop. See the response below from Hertz. I am not mad at the person who replied. They had no way of knowing that management already knows of this issue. I have called Hertz repeatedly. I have emailed their Customer Care Department. I have disputed their fake “documentation.” All to no avail.
The facts are that I rented when I was desperate. (As many were when Delta and other airlines cancelled flights due to the computer issue is July.). Hertz chose to act unethically and steal. There will be no “investigation.” They will continue to claim I owe $5291.30 for a less than 24 hour rental. Just please avoid at ALL costs.
Please, I am begging you, do NOT use Hertz. Especially this location. This location refused to acknowledge that I returned the car on the designated date and time. So, for a one night rental, they are charging me $5,200. I have tried fighting them but they refuse to acknowledge their error. (I believe that they immediately rented the car out and simply did not enter in that I returned it.) I made the (admittedly foolish) error of believing the rental guy when he said it was returned and did NOT get a rental return acknowledgement. This is the MOST DISHONEST company I have ever worked with. Do not fall into the trap that I did. Please avoid at all costs!! I will be paying for this mistake for a very long time. ?

I've been trying to call them since yesterday Noone ever answers the phone . Scary ?. I'm over here thinking they are short staff and I will miss my fligth trying to return the vehicle. Oh corporations when will you learn greed is bad business hire some Help !.

The absolute worst. Was charged for my rental upon booking it and when I went to pick it up they charged me again. No one seemed to be able to figure out why and when a manager was called to try and straighten it out “they” (sorry he wanted to be called they) said the operations manager was too busy because he had bigger issues to deal with. Rashad was the only person who tried to sort this out and promised he would but the charge is still on my credit card transactions. I am disputing this charge but this is no way to treat your customers. Oh and Hertz and Dollar are the same company now. Do not rent from this location at the very least but I suggest avoiding the company altogether.

I experienced the same issue another customer mentioned in the review. Returned the car with full tank and get fuel charged by miles!!! As a Five Star level membership with Hertz, I am very disappointed with this dishonest place.

The reviews were really accurate. Most of the recent reviews were 1 point.
I made a reservation at the reception desk and waited for over an hour.
Like other people's reviews, never book here.
Only people with limited time should book here.
Arrived at the airport and spent most of my time here.
I responded to the review, but don't just say you're sorry, but as an administrator, show your will to improve.

Horrible experience. They rented our booked car to someone else with the same name. The agreement etc is sent to our email. They are not able to find who has taken the car and if he is gonna return. No one here is having an idea what to do, we have been waiting for 3 hours here….they just destroyed my vacation. No is taking any responsibility here.

Not great. Booked an electric car; didn’t have one at pickup. Car smelled like marijuana, vehicle shook at speeds greater than 50mph. Declined all coverages; got charged for roadside assistance. Filled up the car totally full. Got charged $10.99 for a gallon of gas. Got yelled at by staff for parking in the “wrong” return row at Hertz; another staff member apologized for the chaos. Just an overall poor experience.

Hertz erroneously charged me for an extra 5 days after I turned the car in. Their customer service is terrible, I have not been able to get ahold of an actual person and have been forced to go through their online message service to fix this. It is going on 7 weeks now and it still isn’t resolved, and I can’t submit to my company for reimbursement until then so I am accruing interest on my company credit card. Absolutely terrible customer service, I will never rent from Hertz again.

Hertz provided absolutely the worst service possible. I booked and prepaid the rental on Expedia. When I arrived at the rental office, there was no service personnel available and all Hertz customers were redirected to Dollars. I got the car, there's no mention of prepaid. After the trip, I found another charge from Hertz, almost twice the amount of the prepaid vis Expedia. No itemized receipt was ever provided. No live customer service by phone was available (there's an option to speak to a customer service representative but no one ever answered). This is blatant fraud committed by Hertz.
