“Coming to this place was exciting, a distant breeze of home. The owner (who immigrated from Calabria in the 60s) was very kind, giving us time for a chat and letting us try their excellent products complete with an espresso at the end. I would recommend everyone to pay a visit if you are in the area, Italian or not. Thank you so much for your time!”
“The Arthur Avenue Retail Market is one of several public food halls across the city, including Essex Market (LES), Jamaica Farmers Market (Queens), La Marqueta (Harlem), and the Moore Street Market (Brooklyn).The Arthur Avenue market opened in 1940 to serve the predominantly Italian neighborhood and still does to this day.There are several vendors, including butchers, fresh produce sellers, dry goods, and at least one restaurant and sandwich joint.I was running errands in the area and needed a sandwich, so I ordered a mortadella and broccoli raab sandwich from Mike's in the back on the right. They also offer many pre-made sandwiches if you are in a rush, but I like to order off the menu.The butchers look great and have an assortment of specialties, including offal and fresh rabbits. I can't wait to see what they offer around Easter time.There are a few tables near the bar in the back and as part of the restaurant, but it's hard to say if you are welcome to sit there to eat a sandwich. Regardless, it's a great spot to check out if you are walking along and want to pop into NYC, equivalent to a European food hall.”
“My neighborhood butcher. Great steaks, cold cuts, fresh bread, eggs. They've got what you need. The homemade sausage is delicious. Try the chicken and broccoli rabe.”
“There are a few butcher shops on authur ave but for me this is my favorite. This place will literally do whatever you want them to do to a cut of meat. They also carry things like duck, lamb, rabbit, quail, and a few other more exotic meats if you're into that kind of stuff. Great place and make sure you ask for Jimmy he is a true professional!”

So a friend recommended me to Richie's!The place is Clean, lots of items on display, and always fresh! Every guy I ever dealt with has been extremely nice and pleasant. “My Newest favorite place! I tried this spot based on the reviews, and I must admit the people didn't fib!! Purchased "Short Ribs" and they were tender and meaty! They're fast friendly-will give you you cooking tips and shave off unwanted fat!! Now this is my only meat market!!! We're family now?”

“Been going here for more than 10 years, the guys are friendly and always willing to cut your meat just the way you want it. The meat is always fresh and packed for visibility, you get to choose from pre-cut pieces to whole pieces. They also sell a wide variety of other food items.”

There is not a great variety of fish, and you will smell like fish if you go anywhere near the fresh seafood section.Overall, a good experience. I was able to find what I needed.”
