“I thought I had tried the best fresh mozzarella in nyc. WOW, was I wrong because the absolute BEST is right here. It is something you dream about. The cheeses, I'm veg, but the meats I'm sure are on par with everything else. Side note, the cute son or cousin told me to read or peruse the families book next time you are waiting on line because you will wait a little. It's not a huge shop though, it's manageable and it's beyond worth it!”

“NYC history. And NYC present. The story of the place is great. And the cuts of meat are always primo. If you’re a tourist and can’t cook while in NYC, their totes and sweatshirts are a fantastic way to support them”

“The sandwiches are ginormous! The cold cuts and cheeses are sliced fresh for each sandwich. Sure they cost ~$20 but they are a foot long and really dense jam packed with filling and assuredly tasty always. They are really two sandwiches in one, (or even 3 if you have a small appetite), so it's great value. My favorite, the broccoli rabe is really something special. A perfect mix of oily garlicky, vaguely bitter and satisfyingly spicy. It really heightens the chicken cutlet fresh mozzarella broccoli rabe sandwich. Three layers of cutlets in this sandwich to boot! There is a reason this Italian specialty store has been open since 1900. You simply cannot go wrong with old school quality. Note to bring cash for payment.”

“We have been buying our kielbasa at East Village Market since the early '70s when the shop was on Avenue B. Since moving from NYC, I still place orders for the kielbasa to be sent to our home in MA. One year we actually brought the kielbasa on the plane on our way to NC. There were a few stares but it was worth it. Continue making the best kielbasa. BTW: both my parents grew up in Poland, so I know of what I speak.”

“Was craving this spot as I haven’t been in a while and went out of my way to withdraw cash for it too. Turns out they accept card now and have a Clover POS system! So yummy. Beef is my fav. Spicy is just a little kick, you’re probably expecting spicier.”

“Nestled within the vibrant tapestry of Chelsea Market lies Dickson's Market, a culinary gem that beckons to be explored. As we navigated through the bustling market, the sight of hanging meats in the backdrop set the stage for an unforgettable gastronomic journey. While their drink selection may not be expansive, each offering exudes excellence. The Temple Grenadine, a delightful concoction of Cava and grenadine adorned with cherries, offered a refreshing burst of flavor, while the beer on tap satisfied my counterpart's palate. Upon the bartender's recommendation, we indulged in the combo board, a symphony of flavors meticulously curated to perfection. From the fresh and flavorful meats to the divine bread, each bite was a harmonious blend of spice and sweetness, leaving our taste buds in a state of blissful confusion. Our experience at Dickson's Market was nothing short of exceptional, offering a respite from the bustling market and a moment of culinary indulgence. Whether you're in search of a quick snack or a culinary adventure, Dickson's Market inside Chelsea Market is undoubtedly the destination of choice. Update for the question asked below: After much thought, I believe that the 5th star would be well deserved if the staff from that evening actually engaged in conversation or pretended to be happy to have customers. The bar was not full but they seemed slightly annoyed that we sat down. It wasn't terrible service by any means, but it would have been wonderful to engage more with us.”

“This place is so nice and the staff are welcoming and friendly! I bought a 35 day dry aged Delmonico steak, and it was the best steak I have ever eaten. Its been weeks and I still remember the taste. they gave me specific instructions on how to cook it which was very helpful. The steak was huge and fed 3 people. I will be returning for another dry aged steak”

“Love the concept of a restaurant with a specialty food store all in one which not many places do, but it's also not unheard of. The ambiance reminds me of places out in the Hamptons and you know the food is good when real Italians are here every day. Walked by this place dozens of times and finally decided to try it out. The wines are very good and pastas fresh. Seems like a true piece of Italy in NY. The asparagus risotto was excellent, full of great flavors and textures. Service was very hospitable.”

“As a professional chef who has worked on 3 continents, and now works as a private chef in NYC, I shop at Florence Market for the best quality meats, especially pork products and Newport Steaks. Although the shop has changed hands, the level of knowledge, dedication to service, and top quality remains the same because the new owner has worked there for decades. The shop itself has been there for 85+ years, and I for one enjoy the nostalgia that comes with shopping in a small family owned establishment in the Village. The personal touch is always appreciated when it comes to service.Best of luck to the new owners, thanks for keeping this iconic NYC landmark up and running and true to its history, and I'll see you the next time I need perfect pork chops or steaks to serve my family and friends.”

“The meats look great too, but I am rating the sandwich I had there. I’m a huge sandwich fan and roast beef is not my go-to, but their Roast Beast sandwich is possibly my favorite sandwich in lower Manhattan (where I live).”

“I bought two huge, whole chickens for $27 to make Hainan chicken rice. It was the best chicken rice I’ve ever made (and I make this every few weeks). Look how yellow it is!I used the bones and trimmings to make chicken stock afterwards. It was the most amazing thing ever.FYI the Hainan chicken rice recipe is courtesy of PRD in LA :)”

“This place sells the best Chinese style roasted peanuts of all the types tried. 有小时候喜欢吃的盲公佬花生(咸脆花生)味道。Perhaps it brings back youth and memories. I live in SF, always try to get the roasted peanuts from here when visiting or ask friends to get it for me when they come to visit SF.”

“Dicksons Meats is one of the only places in NYC that raises and processes their own meats. I had the hotdog and I have to say it was absolutely delicious. Paired with the mustard - it was possibly the best hotdog in New York...Great place. One, they don't have beef tartare on the menu but they made some for me anyway. Delicious. Two, they were playing one of my favourite albums by kaytranada on some decent speakers. Five stars...!!!?”

“The meats here are of high quality. I've had the chicken legs, pork chops, ground beef and ribeye steaks. The chicken legs are a large size but when you eat it, you don't feel heavy at all. The ground beef is good when cooked in conjunction with other items like hamburger and spaghetti or burger over rice, etc. It's a bit think for hamburgers directly on buns.”

“I didn’t catch the Aussie guy’s name but he was a gem. Super nice guy who shared with me where they source their meats from Upstate, and how passionate the owners are about the quality of their product — to the extent that they drive up themselves to purchase some of the meat they sell in-store.While it may be pricey, their products are worth it if you want the best quality possible. You can 100% taste the difference! Finally, given that costs are through the roof recently, there aren’t too many places like this left in New York. I am so glad this place is still around, and would encourage you to patronize this business. (No I don’t not work for them.)”
