“I'm in love! My first time going to an Italian market and when my friend and I were sent on a mission for cannolis, I wasn't sure what to expect. Having just moved back to town and now living in south city, this is a place I've already been back to! The turkey burger patties in the frozen section are one of the best things I've cooked at home in a long time. A week later I'm still thinking about it”

“Step back in time, in the best way! We were in the area and searched Jewish deli to find a bagel and schmear and were pleasantly surprised to find this old school kosher deli. We had the bagel and lox with some STL Goat chips. We also had a bagel with meat and mustard. We hadn't had fresh kosher hard salami like this since the 80s n NY and Long Island. If you want to try Protzels I would suggest calling in your order. There was a steady stream of to go orders going out tge door.”

“When I'm in the South Grand area, I enjoy visiting Jays International. They offer a great and affordable selection of feta cheese. Occasionally, I stop by to pick up an imported jar of pickles or stuffed grape leaves. Exploring the various aisles is something I love, as I'm adventurous and enjoy trying new things. One of my favorites is getting a large package of Farina, similar to cream of wheat but much more budget-friendly and lasts significantly longer, around 4-5 times more.”

“Sorry to my non-meat eating friends. Love y'all. Might want to just jump to the next review. Frandeka's is your one stop butcher right in the heart of Historic Soulard Market. The first time I ever went to Frandeka's I was absolutely blown away by the selection. There were meats and cuts that I've never heard of. No matter what you're looking for, they probably have it. From linked meats like cajun brats to hand crafted lunch meats, you won't have to make multiple stops thanks to Frandeka's. And all the prices are incredibly reasonable as well. The customer service at Frandeka's was also stellar! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They offered suggestions and also guidance on what would work best for the gumbo I was cooking. You can tell that they are accustomed to serving a high volume of traffic as they worked efficiently to help.”

“First time stopping at Baumann’s even though we’ve lived in the area for Years. We decided to stop in on a lazy Saturday Afternoon. The warm welcome by the staff as we entered was a delightful surprise! We mentioned we had never been and the folks behind the counter were genuinely happy to answer any questions and show us around. They even offered hot samples of their famous smoked wings (Amazing! Giant wings-dry rub, slightly spicy but not hot) We couldn’t resist the beef jerky. Run don’t walk to get this jerky. It’s thick, tender, and tastes like a well seasoned steak. We picked up some pickles from a local business while there and some chicken gumbo from the case. Just with that impulsive stop, we are going to be dedicated customers.. friendly folks, honest prices, authentic little shop. The worst part is the access to the parking but don’t miss Baumanns! Happy we stopped!”

“The first time I had their chicken sausage was at Taste Stl Fair downtown. Once I got the opportunity to bite in it I hopped right back in line. It’s packed with sooo much flavor!”

“I had a wonderful experience in store today. I’m no foreigner to Bavarian Cuisine, and so after venturing into this shop I was quite pleased. The selection was fantastic. I haven’t had leberkäse in YEARS and got some today. It’s delectable! Service was top notch. A line formed after me and despite that fact, I still wasn’t rushed as I asked questions and ordered. Thank you for the hospitality! Prost!”

“Picky eater alert… When I say the tripe, chicken, and burger taste like I cooked it myself. The tripe was the perfect balance of crispy and meat. Baaaby!!! The chicken was fried just right. I generally don’t warm food and I put my chicken in the oven for reheat (I DO NOT like warmed food) and it was still good. The burger was definitely made with real meat. I’ll definitely be returning to try other items.”

“A friendly and knowledgeable staff. Over priced but then again it is a niche market. Great selection of QUALITY meats. Mexican desserts are very boring and bland and the ones offered in this grocer are no exception to that rule. Their hours of operation and sometimes questionable as they often times close prior to their listed hours. Call ahead if running late.”

“Great meat and great staff. They know their meat. Try their loaded potatoes, ready to just heat up. Just picked up my corned beef to make for St. Patrick's Day. They have the best.”

“The workers were hilarious I laughed the hole time I was there we were looking for jars of pimped out pickles and they didn't know what we were talking about. So instead they tried to sell us a jar of regular pickles. That was my first time there and I will go back and shop again”

“These folks are simply fantastic. I get a feeling when I am in here that reminds me much of some of the family-ran businesses I grew up around in the country. The store itself keeps a pleasant variety (I cannot speak for alcohol as I do not drink, but rather - food items, snacks, soda, juices, frozen food, ice-cream, masks, smoking pipes, cigarettes, blunt-wraps, and lottery tickets). Store forgot to put cigarettes in my bag once (human error, we all do it). Showed their standard of service with how EASY it was to correct the problem. I just LOVE this place. I come here every chance I get. KEEP UP the FIVE STAR service!”
