“We lived next to the “little store” for 8 years “back in the day” At that time (early 2000) the owners kept it pretty basic (beer, candy, a few boxed foods) and that’s about it. Originally you could smoke inside and the couple who owned it, had a pet monkey that hung out at the register. The monkey did not smoke or make change. I always thought wouldn’t it be brilliant if someone made this a deli?!? Which is what someone did. Absolutely LOVELY business! Favorite Saturday activity is to take my kiddo on the paved trails behind the store along Line Creek/mini railroad then stuff our faces with the many amazing deli choices the “little store” has. We always take extra items back home for later but end up eating on drive home. Food items are bomb, prices are reasonable (cash discount) and the staff is really cool. Love seeing them thrive. Also love that this community said NO to the QT being put in nearby and YES to supporting this gem! I’d love to see them feature even more local items.”
“Cute little shop! Definitely seems family owned. There are so many candies from all over. They even carry candy made by small business owners. In the summer, they have fresh produce. They offer local honey! Perfect for people with severe allergies. I will absolutely be back.”
“This place is an absolute gem! They have the best vegan charcuterie board I’ve ever had. It’s also a huge portion for the price. Their selection of wine is also fantastic and the staff are phenomenal.”
“I love this store and restaurant!!! Everyone there is always so helpful and the products are always fresh. I love the meat department as well. Large variety to choose from”

“So first things first, the cold pack pickles they sell are the best ever. But there are always great deals to be had even if you're a casual shopper.
We love their pretzels and chips some of their produce. Their frozen fruit packs are really great and not expensive at all, and even the dog treats are excellent and our dog's favorites.
Most people go to Costco when they're throwing a party. We do things differently, we go to ALDI.”
“This place is my window to olfactory paradise. The moment I walk in the door the amazing smells of spices, herbs, and excellent concoctions of spice blends puts my chefs brain into overdrive.
If I’m planning some Curry dishes or simply a steak night, I’ll make the drive here to get the freshest and great priced herb and spices I need to make the best food I can.
From snacks to drinks and little oddities you’ll find nowhere else Al Habashi has you covered.
The owner is there daily and is always willing to make suggestions or help you find what you are looking for.
They have a few people on staff who are always helpful and are very knowledgeable on the use and mixing portions of items you may need to make that special dish
I don’t even buy any supermarket spices, salts, or flavoring when I can get everything here and it’s way fresher.”
“Sprouts always have the best deals in the back by the bathrooms, on sale items for up to 75% off. You can find a lot of good snacks here for next to nothing, the store overall is pricey, but if you go at the right time. Those manager specials are very nice!”
“I have every possible thing you could need that comes from asia. The fish sauce section for example is 10 ft wide great produce every kind of thing you could want all the hard to find stuff we don't come here often but when we do we stock up”
“I've been going to this store for a while now and I'm surprised that I haven't done a review by now. This is a great store probably the best small halal store I've been to and I've been on the road in different states. I've shopped at many different halal stores. This is by far the best of the smaller stores.
The owners are very nice, friendly ,very helpful and knowledgeable about the store and their products. They make me feel welcomed every time I shop there. I really appreciate them so if you want some good halal food from a good halal store shop here.”
“Good selection of clean and organic options for food. I love the bull bins. We found plenty of dye free options as well. Can’t wait to explore a few more times.”
“They have lots of stuff a full service grocery store has. They are a neighborhood grocery store. Mostly for convenience. And it's better than going to a huge supermarket. But be prepared to pay a lot for their groceries they are expensive! They have good meat sales there every once in a while.”
“Hy-Vee has some great items no other store has, however, I cannot afford to buy all my groceries there. If you can, do it, if not, go where you can. I go to Walmart Neighborhood Markets and Aldi.”
“They have so many different foods to choose from. Their meats that they have available is incredible and it seems like they carry German made foods there too! Don't forget your quarter to get a shopping cart! I believe their prices beat Walmart, price chopper, Hy-Vee, and sun fresh. Recommend you to explore this place to what they have”
“Good source for healthy eating. Expensive at times but some of the better selections in KC. Most employees are cordial and greet customers unfortunately deli staff is a tad slow and is rude to you when filling deli and salad bar.”
“I was presently surprised at their hot food items!! The grilled chicken and spicy roasted potatoes!!!!!!!!! I come just for THAT.... Even tho I end up paying $28 for enough dinner for my daughter and I.... But pricey but when I'm pressed on time, they always have my go to!”
“Phenomenal store for the size of it. Stopped in during my lunch break and grabbed a warm meal. It was delicious (no, I don’t work for Hy-Vee). I grabbed a tenderloin sandwich with tots. They cooked the tots fresh and served it all right to my table. Kudos to them!”
“This store is very clean and has a great selection of products. The only downside is that the store is organized in an unusual way compared to other Price Choppers so it's tough to find common products.”
“This store has helpful courteous staff. Thier fresh baked (daily) bread is the best I have had. They have an on site butcher and a bakery that surpasses the one at P.C. Produce dept. is great too! The isle are a bit narrow. Prices are mostly reasonable.”
“I love shopping here. I love all of the staff, they have the most eclectic staff North of the river, And I love every single employee who works there. They're all friendly, every one.
When they have a great deal, they have a great deal! A lot of their deals are the same kind of deals that you will find at Price Chopper in their weekly ads, except a lot of their not-on-sale stuff is less expensive than Price Chopper.
I usually come in on my way home from working the night shift for the deli chicken because it's just so delicious and it's only $7.99 for four legs and four thighs. ?
It is really good chicken, in my opinion, and you can't beat the price. Even if they have to raise it a dollar or two soon because of the economy, I will still buy it, and it will still be worth it. (Go get it now while it's still $7.99. Before tariffs take full effect in the coming weeks.)
But today I came in a little bit early, too early for the deli to be opened (it opens at 10:00 a.m.,) so instead I bought some of the day old/leftover chicken at a discount, and also decided to try the hamburgers with cheese in the discount/cold deli section, (Right next to the deli counter and salad and produce,) because I needed a quick meal. (they also sell fresh cheeseburger patties, and they off buns and condiments and everything.)
I seriously was not expecting much from leftover hamburger patties, I tend to like mine fresh and pretty rare. However, I have a lot of work to do today and I really needed something quick.
Oh. My . Glob. ???
I nuked one for 30 seconds and threw it on a big piece of lettuce with ketchup and mustard and mayo. And my eyes rolled into the back of my head and I did that "oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh" happy dance that people do when something is really, really, really good... THAT'S how good it was. it tasted like I went to somebody's barbecue and they were a good cook and didn't totally burn my burger to a charcoal looking crisp.)
Day old. Nuked.
How? HOW? how is a day old hamburger patty THAT good? I feel like I'm losing my mind. ?
Anyhow, the chicken and the burgers and deli food are really good. They are good even if they are a day old. But they're really awesome fresh.
The weekly ad deals are awesome.
But I think I like the people the best. The shy ones, the ones that are always so busy but they still say hi. Everyone.
The store is not in my neighborhood, but I love stopping there a few times a week after work.
It's on the corner of Brighton and Parvin.
You can take the Searcy Creek exit on 210 and take the idyllic drive northward on Searcy Creek Parkway to get there easily. (Take a left on Parvin Rd. It's on the corner of Parvin and Brighton. )
It's worth making it a trip on your way home if you live in the Northland or Gladstone, or anywhere north of the river.
And please tip whoever is working in the deli if you like the food. They're not expecting 40% or anything- They aren't expecting anything. They actually get embarrassed by it - It's just nice to do.
Especially if you find yourself saving money from going to Popeyes or Church's or KFC or having a barbecue outside to have one or two burgers or ribs. (Oh yeah, also, I had butterfly shrimp the other day... It was really good, and a great price!) A lot of the deli items are really good. Chicken tenders. Pastas. Mexican dishes. Barbecue. You're not going to find a better price anywhere for food this good.)”

“They sell a variety of items from India. All kinds of rice, spices, pre-made naan breads, deserts, snacks, and drinks. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is very helpful. Its a neighborhood store with an east coast feel. If you're looking for foods from India and you live 20 miles away, its worth the drive.”
“Small but very good selection of health oriented & vegan food options - 100% organic produce & a selection of local meat (frozen) & eggs (Barham & Campo Lindo) - a vitamin & body care section plus local kombucha on-tap! Plus Two Niles Sea Moss! Great knowledgable & friendly staff...”

“The quality of the products here are better than Walmart, especially for the in-house brands. EBT accepted. For basics like bread, lunch meat, toilet paper, soap, etc. the price and quality are unmatched in central Kansas City. Bring your own bag or box to carry your goods home or pay for bags at checkout.”
“They have most everything you're looking for as far as liquor and what goes with it. Very quick to get in and out and extremely friendly people. Really nice place. Older building but nice place.”
“Great little grocery store with products from Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Mexico to name a few. It is very crowded and difficult to pass someone in the aisles. We had a difficult time finding prices on the products so we didn't add anything to our cart that was missing the price. We couldn't find prices on the shelves or products in most cases. I'm guessing half of their inventory is missing a price tag or shelf label.”
“Clean store, their usual items are typically in stock. However the cashier's tend to just pile up your cart after scanning. Has caused at times things in my cart to get damaged.”
“Great selection. Stern but approachable security, efficient cashiers with nice conversation. It's clean from what I saw. Reminds me of my time in Rivendell; in the council of Elrond. My have the times flown by”
“EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE at every counter! FRESH produce, the freshest around! Daily deals at the butcher’s counter AND $2 Triple Chocolate Muffins or try the Cinnamon Chip Muffin! (Thank me later)
Fresh sushi made daily right in front of your eyes! You will definitely be amazed at the fresh salad bar AND pasta station!
Highly Recommend”
