Was able to get into rental car with minimal time and was placed in a brand new Ford escape. Still had writing on the windows front and side. Could have been cleaned off for visibility but was a great car. Staff were very helpful and efficient. Received emailed receipt promptly and everything was in order. Great little place in MCI to get a rental. Had to take a shuttle bus to the rental place and then back to the airport but was only 5-7 minutes ride.

Drew was most patient and helpful with our extremely complicated and nuanced requests. We were not sure what we wanted and kept changing our minds. He remained calm and in good spirits until we were finally confident about our rental decision. Five stars! Thank you, Drew!

Overall, not very happy. First off.. Fastbreak. Grab the keys and roll. Did that. Then I had to fill out a all the same paperwork I could have done at the desk. Now I'm waiting to exit the lot and have to get out and inspect the vehicle. No directions on turn in. Just pull in and hope for the best. You do t know you need the keys to drop in a tiny overstuffed drop box until you walk a quarter mile to the desk. Now.. 3 days later, I still can't get an e-receipt so I can file a company voucher. I've called and been hung up on. The app isn't much help because it's an independent budget... Just no. Not again.

This has been the worst experience ever! I will NEVER use Budget moving forward. Budget should really consider not having a franchise location KANSAS CITY (part of the issue). They have given their name a bad reputation. I have personally waited for over a month on a fraudulent charge that they claim was refueling of the rented vehicle. I have provided a detailed copy of the receipt showing the refueling of the returned vehicle. I keep receiving the run around after speaking with several supervisors and managers. This has caused an extreme inconvenience as a customer.

Hands down the worst budget counter in the country had to cancel my corporate rental and find a new van while my coworkers waited and my managers scrambled, the two gentlemen at the counter acted like they had no idea what to do, when I refused to give him my personal card because I was booked through a booking agent on a corporate amex and there should be no reason for him to have my personal card, he told me he couldn’t help me.When I asked for the number to the desk so that I could have my booking agent call, the gentleman gave me a bad number, 1.5hr of calling and shuffling for our business travel and I ended up walking across the room and booking with avis for the month.Disappointing, I’m a fast brake business traveler, budget is a corporate preferred partner, this was an out of the ordinary experience. Avoid this counter.

TL;DR: Budget Car Rental provided an extremely disappointing experience, from a lack of available cars and inconvenient vehicle substitutions to unexpected charges for extra insurance and unprofessional service. Their insistence on extra insurance compounded the frustrations of an already terrible experience. Avoid this rental location if you can.I recently had the unfortunate experience of renting a car from Budget Car Rental, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. I made my reservation through Costco's website, which I trusted to offer high-quality products and services. However, this rental experience was a glaring exception. My ordeal began when I landed at the Kansas City airport with my sister, my blind grandmother, and a considerable amount of luggage. Our flight arrived at midnight, and I had to take a shuttle bus to the car rental facility, leaving my sister, grandmother, and luggage stranded at the airport. Little did I know that this would set the tone for a series of problems.Upon arriving at the rental counter, I learned that the people in front of me, who had also made reservations, were told that there were no cars available for them. I feared the same would happen to me, and sadly, it did. Budget did offer a partial credit, but this didn't alleviate the inconvenience of having to arrange Uber rides for my family and me to get to our hotel.Returning the next morning as instructed, I still didn't find the car I had reserved—a Camry or similar. Instead, they offered me a Dodge Charger, which was far from suitable for a trip with my grandmother to Branson, Missouri. The Charger was not only less fuel-efficient but also lacked the comfort I had expected. To make matters worse, when I requested an extension for the drop-off time to accommodate the changes in our vacation plans, Budget agreed but decided to charge me for an extra day, which bumped up my initial bill of $420 to over $600. This was before they insisted I pay for extra insurance because they claimed my personal insurance and Visa card insurance wouldn't cover me in the event of an accident.Adding insult to injury, Budget Car Rental further insisted that in the event of an accident, I would be required to pay a daily rental fee for each day the car was at the body shop until it was back in service if I didn't opt for their costly extra insurance. When I tried to return the car at around 9:00 pm, I couldn't find any employees. The website indicated they were still open, but the facility was deserted. I called the customer service number, and they stated that their records showed this location as open according to their information and that someone should have been there. For over 30 minutes, I could not find anyone. I was advised not to leave the car unattended, which forced me to cancel my ride share and wait. An employee finally appeared but could only accept the car without providing any paperwork or a receipt. Once I handed over the car, I had to order another ride share to reach my destination. It's worth noting that in the end, they made me wait a minimum of 8 hours beyond the original agreed-upon pickup time to get an actual car, and ironically, extending my drop-off time by 8 hours, which was necessitated by their delays, resulted in them charging me for a full extra day. I still returned it before the original drop-off time and was still charged the extra day.

The email sent from Budget Fastbreak states to fill in the info of credit card and drivers license to help expedite getting the car once you arrived at the rental car terminal at all locations. THIS DID NOT HELP. We completed all info as requested by email and the counter at several locations didn't receive it. We started all over at the counter. This is a big delay! You'll need to give full details, ID, form of payment to employees. Every location has limited choices of available vehicles. Employees are friendly, overworked, unable to give information regarding lost information sent by email, and unable to give information to make FASTBREAK work.

Very nice people when I arrived. They gave me an upgrade from my sports car to Tesla. Unfortunately, they failed to tell me that there was going to be a price difference on this upgrade, It ended up costing twice as much as I had already prepaid.Make sure you ask if there's gonna be a price difference when they give you an upgrade without you requesting one.

Called to inquire as to What is considered late, any grace period as most places have. This location has no grace period. And charges $75 if you're past your return time, then the girl said if it's an hour late or 2 hours late. She said if it's past that you get charged an extra day and offered to extend my rental which would be twice the amount of the $75 late charge. I asked her when it transfers from a late charge to the additional extended day in addition to the late charge, and she said "whenever they decide to look at it."!! When asked to provide a little bit more definitive information, she said "well you just figured out and let me know" and hung up.After reading all of the disturbing reviews, I've been concerned about renting from this location, and reasonably so.This Budget location has no clue what customer service is.

Never wrote a review before but Logan I think his name was who helped me here was great. It was a crazy time trying to get me a rental with different policies and my age but he got me one. He honestly saved my trip and great to work with. Thank you and if I ever need a car over here again Hopefully I’ll get to work with him or someone of that standard again!

I flew into MCI today already having a reservation with another company. Due to weather and other delays, it became apparent that I would not be able to get my original rental until the next day, so I was relieved when I found cars available with budget and the desk was open past my arrival time.I placed a reservation online, choosing to “pay now” and provided my card information for a Tesla/Luxury vehicle.I made my way to the rental car desks after arriving and spent about 5 minutes hanging out in front of an empty desk before I walked to the side of the area/towards the parking lot hoping to come across one of the voices I could hear talking. I didn’t see anyone but upon returning there was a man at the desk. The employee was fairly dismissive from the get go, mumbling for my card and drivers license. He then asked me what kind of car I was expecting, to which I answered it said Tesla. He then proceeded to go on a barely coherent rambling set of statements about not taking my card, deposits, split payments and some other unintelligible items. I asked him what the problem with my card was as I was paying with a Mastercard with enough to pay for the rental 10 times over available on it. He asked if I had another card to which I told him just a debit card as that was the only credit card I had purely for travel purposes. He responded dismissively once again stating that he could give me a car, but it wasn’t going to be a Tesla, and offered me a Nissan rogue sport or a Kia forte. At this point, I just needed a car to get to my hotel and come back tomorrow for my original reservation, so I said give me the Nissan. He then put the rental paperwork on the counter with a pen and made absolutely zero effort to specify what needed signed, what needed initialed, or any other information.Absolutely would not recommend the MCI budget counter.

RENTER BEWARE: iShould have looked at the reviews before renting from these crooks. When going up to the counter they had hand written signs basically demanding you purchase their insurance, so I did purchase the insurance. A few days after dropping off the vehicle I received an email stating there was damage to the vehicle and I owe about $1000. I let them know I had not seen any damage to the vehicle and that I purchased the insurance to cover any damages. Now I just get a new email stating that I was in violation because of not reporting damage within 24 hours. Had there actually been an incident I surely would have reported it. Now they refuse to run it through the insurance that I purchased. Also they refuse to return calls, as I have called several people. They are scammers, the guy told me when I left the garage with the vehicle that 100 percent of any damage was covered so I didn't need to look the car over. BEWARE OF THE LIES THEY TELL.

Guy at the counter quoted me $1200.00 for a two day rental of a basic car! I told him that’s extremely high and gave him a chance to come down to normal prices. He said, that’s the price and there was nothing he could do. I stepped to the side and booked the exact same car from the same place for $240 online. I got back in line and the guy went to get his manager and then he left. Obviously I had caught him trying to price gouge me. Just treat people right guys.

Long wait to get to the counter, about an hour, reminder to self don't travel to St Louis on a Monday. 40 people ahead of me. Employees were very friendly and helpful. Once I was at the counter it took less than 10 minutes from start to getting in the rental.

The car I rented had a defective transmission and needed to be towed back. Budget got me an Uber to go back to the airport and I was suppose dto have a car waiting. It took over 2 hours for me to get my car while the manager hid in his office. Additionally I asked the guy behind the counter to call my friend as I did not have a cell phone. His response was "I am not calling anybody for you!" Very unprofessional staff. I would highly suggest avoiding them. The icing on the cake was that they charged me $33 for not returning the car, that broke down and needed to be towed, with a full gas tank.
