“This is an Upscale Venue. The space was great for Salsa, and Two - Stepping. There is a kitchen and nice tvs on the wall. This is more for the Classy event.. Corporate meeting, Baby Shower’s, Seminars. But it could be used for any Fitnes boot camp- yoga , Zumba… the space is there.”

“I'm very sorry to report that Higher Ground Hotel has closed. I don't believe the owner was very well when we were there last. They may have decided they just couldn't run it any more. (My speculation) Someone was there taking care of the place for the new owners. He said another company had purchased it. I hope it will reopen as a hotel or bed and breakfast. If the former owners see this, thank you for years of a wonderful place to stay when in the historic Independence area!”

“Rooms were nice, the only problem is the microwave hits the refrigerator and doesn’t open all the way, other than that it was a good stay. The bed was nice and comfortable. They have a social on Monday-Wednesday night it was my first time staying here and I’m ”
“Had my baby shower in this event space. It was very clean and the perfect size for a smaller (about 30 people) event. The space is pretty neutral which makes it easy to decorate with whatever kind of theme. Kiki was amazing at helping us get checked in and out in a timely manner. Whole process was super smooth and they were able to work with me budget wise regarding deposit for the venue. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a simple event space.”
