“This is a true bike shop in every sense of the word. I live in KC but am in town visiting family and doing a good amount of riding. I busted a spoke on the front of my Mavic wheel. This is a unique wheelset where the spokes are bladed and not threaded through the wheel. They are tubeless ready which means they don't require rim tape. Essentially, they need a specific spoke. Problem is, Mavic went out of business and parts can be tricky to find. I met a guy at another shop I was talking to and he said you got to call Mark. He said Ballwin Cycles used to deal Mavic and Mark has been building wheels for years. He said, Mark will probably be able to help you today. I called the shop and Mark picked up. He said, "I bet I have a spoke that will work and to come on down". It was about a 50 minute drive but as soon as I walked in Mark and one of his mechanics started looking through the Mavic stuff. Mark found a spoke and got it installed on the spot and the wheel is rolling as true as the day I bought it. I was blown away. They even offered me a beer. This place is what I think of when I think of a bike shop. I could have hung out there all day and just talked bikes. Thank you Mark and crew!”

Steve allowed me to pick his brain for well over an hour after I had explained that I wasn't there to purchase anything. After more research, I determined what was best for me and returned to 40k because I trusted their staff. Mike got me scheduled for a fitting with short notice and spent well over an hour, making sure my bike was just right. I am sure there are other good bike shops in St Louis, but 40k will continue to receive my business, thanks to a knowledgeable and genuine staff.”
