Shittiacom has ridiculously bad service. The internet regularly goes down and it always seems to be at the worst times. The techs they hire are also incompetent as I had one at my apartment for 4 hours for something that took me 5 minutes, no exaggeration. I am not particularly tech savvy either. If I had any other choice for internet service, then I would not have Mediacom. The internet is also super slow even though I pay for the 1gig plan. It's not a big apartment either. It's bad enough that I have to leave my apartment and use the campus wifi in order to have more reliable service. That's right, the on-campus wifi that is notoriously awful outranks this crap company. If you have any other option for internet service, use them. Avoid Mediacom by any means necessary. Time to figure out if there is any way to kick this monopoly out of its reign of terror & get some more competition.

They will not remove a charge for tech support which I never ordered. I called 4 times and everytime they tell me to rest assured that the credit will apply within 24 hours but no credit. Lies and lies. I hate calling them, it takes too long to get a human and all they say is 'we are sorry about that!'

There is not enough time or space to write my review. I will just warn you that this is the WORST service of anything I have ever had in the past. They ran a cord through our yard to connect us (I have since observed this at other homes in our neighborhood...cords running through yards and street...so not cool); very first day we had no connection; took a good part of Saturday and still no connection; rescheduled a service call and still got no connection; asked for a refund and returned all equipment...they don't refund your card but say they will "mail" a check in 4-8 weeks...BS To sum it up: never had there service because they could never get us connected...high speed?..a bunch of crap. I usually don't write reviews but this is such a worthless company, don't bother with it. TERRIBLE!

Very poor services!! They don’t tell you you’re paying for a router fee, service fee, AND your monthly fee. I keep trying to lower my plan because I can’t afford the one I’m on right now but then they say I would be paying more. I was interested in them first moving here because it said 24.99 but I really paid 64.99 for the first year now I pay 94.11. I applied for the ACP program but Mediacoms website said it didn’t match their records. Reading reviews looks like I am not the only one who thinks they are a scam. I am now scared to stop business with them because lots of people say they get charged 200-509 just to STOP. I thought it would be trustable because of how much it is advertised around Columbia, MO.

You are a complete joke of a company. My internet has gone out 3 times in the past week, no outages in the area, had your office send a technician out just to tell me there's nothing wrong with any of the connections. What the hell am I paying for?

Not a reliable service to use when working from home, I lost upload speeds entirely, and the soonest they could send a tech to look at the issue is 3+ days from now. Just unacceptable and I’m now contacting competitors to see if I can get a better provider

Horrible internet company. Internet would crash every day leaving me with unfinished assignments that I have to completely restart, constant buffering, and I even had to get a brand new modem because the first one they gave me was ole and reused. Never recommend mediacom to anyone in the Columbia area.

We had a tech out today due to buffering and total outage problems. the tech first said my modem had a bad card in it and replaced it - messed with several things and called the office and his supervisor for assistance several times. He left after telling us someone with "higher authority" would be out between 1:00 - 3:00 tomorrow. I asked him not to leave since our downstream/upstream levels were so low - he left anyway. Our service has been buffering about every 5 minutes and our service level, download, is between 0-- 100, less than 1/4 of what we pay for. Terrible service and overpriced. Due to pricing and terrible service levels MediaCom and others need to be regulated although I'm not totally supportive of most governmental regulations. I'll wait for the "higher authority" to visit tomorrow - not expecting much higher level of service than I got today.

Theres a reason they have a 1 star average over 650+ reviews. Doesnt matter what you sign up for they will charge you for stuff you didnt ask for or want, hidden fees and terrible service. Avoid at all costs.

Make sure you talk to the head customer service people “on the phone” when you start service because according to them the people at the office don’t know anything about accounts. You can use your own router and not have a monthly fee with your bill. No one will tell you this though because “no one at the office knows this”.So to save yourself the fee and having to go back and fourth to the office, buy your own router. Really bad customer service.

This company is straight trash my bill will go up every single year to over 200 dollars than when I deactivated from them they said I only had to pay 7:50 to deactivate and two weeks later come mailing me a over 500 dollar bill to pay. When I have always paid them when I was with them everytime my bill was due. Whatever you do please don't go to them the worse internent company in the entire world

The absolute worst internet I have ever had. Randomly cuts out, goes down for hours, and terrible customer service. Can't wait for a reply from the bot telling me to contact customer service. Then have them come out saying everything is fine and then have it still be broken. Paying $65 dollars a month for literal garbage, stay away.

Told them my moveout date so I could cancel my service at that time but they turned off my service a week early and I work from home. No internet for 5 days before they can send a tech.

This company is incredibly frustrating to deal with. Every time there's an issue with internet speeds, it requires a visit from their technician, but even after they come out, nothing seems to change. Overall, their service is subpar and if there were other options available in town, people would avoid working with them altogether.

Paid for the 1G internet and was pretty good at during 1st year. Price jumped up after the 1st year and then again to like $180 a month the start of year 3. Decided to go elsewhere and are now spending $60 a month for Brightspeed fiber and get better speeds and more consistent service. When canceling Mediacom overcharged my account an extra $208 and it took 2 months to receive the check refund. Not the greatest experience over 3 years.
