“Caring and extremely loving. They made an appointment for me within an hour of calling. My boys were extremely sick and it was their first visit to the clinic. Very thorough with taking care of their needs while there as well as addressing aftercare for them. Addressed all my questions and concerns. The techs were amazing even the ones who weren't directly caring for them.”

“I have used Dr. Huffman for a long time and find him to always be kind and helpful! Katie and Linda are always willing to help me. They take such good care of my animals. I am so sad to know that Dr. Huffman is leaving and not sure what I will do for vet care!”

“The people here really do care for animals. When my dog developed a serious problem with her spine, they worked to see us on short notice and get her the help she needed. A+”

“Dr. Collins saw our Pittie and it was a great experience. They were busy when we arrived, but were seen promptly (which was a small concern since they don’t take appointments). Dr. Collins was patient, listened to all of our concerns, gave us all our options (while understanding that money does have to be factor- so no going to the counter waiting for the price of the many medications we had to get), she was so sweet to our baby and I will definitely be returning for future visits for all of my dogs. The ladies up front were also very nice and informative!”

“Dr Christine Gibson, although retired, is the very best Vet I've ever known. She literally saved my fur babie 'Willie' when there was little hope for his recovery. It's very assuring that the Drs at the Pet Hospital on Gandy have two nieces of Dr Gibson. I'm sure that they were mentored by Dr Gibson who is THE BEST. One of my Italian Greyhounds will be having surgery next week and I am 100% confident that the surgery will have a good outcome.”

“My older dog, Paige, was coughing and sneezing. I was able to get her in and looked at fairly quick. The veterinarian was thorough and took time to explain everything to me. Medication and a cortisone shot were given. Paige is much better now.”

“Wonderful experience during a very rough and worrisome night! My pup was sick and of course got MUCH worse after midnight when no vet was open - I truly didn’t know if she would make it by morning- I could tell she was not only sick but in pain, very lethargic, etc. I wish I would have remembered all names but to Dr Jennifer and the most precious lady at the desk on 7-12 at 2am, thank u- from the bottom of my heart. You were So sweet and kind not only to me but my fur baby! It means so much! She is doing much better and I hope to get her back later today!”

“Dr. Frazier saved my 16 chicks when he diagnosed their coccidiosis infection. The medicine he prescribed subdued symptoms immediately and he also taught me a lot about chicken stewardship! Thank you!!!”

“The people here care deeply for your pets. I spoke with the vet about my dogs for over half an hour. She wasn't rushed, and didn't make me feel like she had somewhere else to be. Not only were their prices more than reasonable, but they told me what websites to check for the lowest prices on what I needed. What a great experience!”

“I got a new puppy here based on a recommendation from a friend. They have purebred dogs to buy as well as rescue dogs. They're professional, responsive to questions, and the well being of the dogs seemed to be a top priority.”

“I had to drive 2+ hours from Jackson, MS to Hattiesburg to Animal Medical Center on April 29, 2024 for emergency surgery. My Golden Retriever, Max, was bleeding into a splenic mass and was anemic. He was 11-12 years old. I am a physician, an anesthesiologist for over 40 years, so I understood the gravity of the situation. Even before I arrived, Dr. Mayfield, II, called me on the phone to check on us. When we arrived, the employees immediately carried him out of my car for emergency surgery for treatment and diagnosis. Dr. Mayfield thoroughly discussed what we would do if the diagnosis was dire. They started blood and took him back to surgery within 30 minutes. The diagnosis was dire: he had a splenic mass full of tumor, with metastasis to his pancreas, liver, bowel, and kidney. Dr. Mayfield called me and took me back to surgery to see Max under anesthesia, and I said my goodbyes and let him go.... Dr. Mayfield then spent additional mourning moments with me and was very kind. I then made cremation arrangements and delivery of the remains to me. I also asked for histology on the tumors, as I had lost another Golden, Luka, age 13 or14, to hemangiosarcoma last year. Dr. Mayfield called me about 2 weeks later to say the pathologist reported high-grade lymphoma. The entire treatment, including the cremation, was very expensive--about $4000. As a physician, I understand the high costs of surgery, blood transfusion, anesthesia and other veterinary technicians. Everyone at the Center was extremely kind to me throughout my ordeal at their clinic. I was so thankful that there was a full-service surgery/ICU clinic available to me on that day. From the moment I arrived there, I felt that Max would be well-cared for by Dr. Mayfield and his staff, and he was.”
