“The store was well organized and clean. The staff was easy to find and helpful. The check out lanes were short, and the cashier was proficient. As I was leaving the store having already paid for my items,one of the staff made a final attempt to sell me a membership a bit to aggressively, after politely refusing and on his 4th attempt to sell me I became a little annoyed and because of that being the final memory of that store I don't know if I will return there vs a different harbor frieght store. I didn't purchase the membership either.”
“This Ace had a weird item I couldn’t find anywhere else same day. I was personally escorted to my item by a very friendly and personable staff member which made it much easier to find than if I was on my own. This store, like all Ace’s I’ve been to, is packed to the gills with all kinds of stuff (which I appreciate bc like I said the thing I needed was weird) but I can say it is a lot cleaner and better organized than some others I’ve been to, while still offering top notch customer service. Also idk why but the key display really does something for my brain.”

I went into Penn Lake True Value looking for a pair of wire crimpers for a DIY project and I spoke with Ramon (great guy) after finding out what I needed them for and how close I was he offered to lend me his personal pair as long as I returned them. This act is so far and few between nowadays and because of his kindness he saved me $25 on something I only needed for two wires. His generosity was more valuable than any sale Penn Lake True Value could have made with me and because of that I will be returning for anything I may need in the future. Thank you again Ramon!”
“Had been shopping online for tables. Specifically for one to put next to my freeze dryer and/or move the dryer onto (because it’s sitting rather low on a nightstand). In lieu of putting the freeze dryer on it, I wanted something to put the vacuum pump on- it creates a ton of heat and having it right next to the dryer like I do increases the drying time.
I really wanted to find some place near me that actually carried a table. All the places that advertised stainless steel tables would only ship them directly from the manufacturer. “But what if…?” scenarios kept me from ever ordering one. Well Lo and Behold Carlson Ace Hardware in Prior Lake had one! Sure, it’s smaller than I wanted, and much more expensive… but it was in-the-store!!
I drove directly there. I mean, not only the only Ace Hardware, but the only store of ANY kind that had a stainless steel table on the premises.. one that I could take home that day.. one that I didn’t have to wait for shipping.. plus and plus! Sure, this table is actually meant for holding grills and not for other things, if you live in a closed box kind of brain. I think outside the box.
I looked at the shelves, the hooks on the back/side, places to put all kinds of do-dads.. I fell in love with it. Only problem was they wouldn’t sell me the floor model, which was understandable, they had a bunch of stuff on it with no place to go. They even had the manager-type that gave the standard gruff responses “that’s the floor model, it’s not for sale!”
It’s been my experience that everything is for sale for the right price or person. I know I’m not the right kind of person (not one of the ‘beautifuls’ that people fall over themselves to please), so I get it. I wasn’t expecting to get the one that was out together. Luckily for me they had one in the back.
The lady (I apologize for not paying attention to get her name) who helped me out was fantastic. You don’t see many people these days who will help the uglies (like me), who will bend backwards to make a sale and help someone out. She got someone to carry the one from the back out to my car. I was happy to get one. I found out just how heavy the thing is when I tried getting it out of my car when I got home, it’s still in the garage unopened. Now I gotta find someone to get it inside my house and on a workbench so I can put it together…”

“The RH rooftop restaurant is a great place for enjoying a casual special occasion. The fountain & crystal chandeliers combine elegance with the sense of being outdoors. The food was beyond delicious and generous portions, but a lunch entrée in the $24 & up range can feel a bit steep. Still, it is worth it for a special event or special person. The service was exceptional, making us feel like the staff was truly happy that we were there. I know we will be back again in the future.”

“Nice home Ace. I used just about every home Ace in the west metro. Never have had a problem. Easy to get to, employees are nice. Never had problems. I use the Ace for all my needs. They've never been out of stock anytime I've ever been there or needed anything. Which is very important as a contractor. I just never know when i'll have to stop in and grab someone. I can usually get in and out in 5 min which is important to me(even though I wanna look around longer). Plain and simple great place to shop. “Wow, great service! I needed a 10 pound food grade CO2 tank exchange and the brew shop only carries 5 pound tanks. When I walked in the door the guy walked out of the back room with exactly what I needed, apparently he saw the tank as I got it out of my trunk and he went to get it before I even opened the door!”

Luke was my man on the scene, and he found what I needed in the blink of an eye!!!!!!
But that is not what arrested my attention.... What arrested my attention was that a young man was working at 4 pm on a Saturday, doing his absolute best to help the person who asked for help, and he carried himself with drive and ambition. This is what I love about this place.
This is a vibe I've come to find with Diamond Lake, and this is why I keep coming back, even if it's just for a bolt or two.
