“A brilliant place to stay for a North Shore Weekend. Rooms with the harbor view offer a great view of downtown, the hill and the massive lake freighters coming in and out of town. The bed sheets must have sheets with a million plus thread count. I’ve never felt so comfy at a hotel before.11/10 would recommendWalkability: With a quick walk across the lift bridge you have full access to Canal Park restaurants and shops.”

“This was our second time staying at Fitger’s during the holiday season, both were excellent. The hotel is beautiful and all the furnishings top notch. We were, weirdly, given a wheelchair accessible room - but that didn’t distract from the overall comfort.Rooms: The rooms are modest sized, but well appointed with very comfortable beds, good chairs, and ample lighting. The bathrooms were supplied with Aveda soaps, shampoo and conditioner. The view out our lake-side window was gorgeous.Walkability: The hotel is located in a converted brewery building that also includes three restaurants and a variety of shops. Three other great restaurants are within two blocks of the complex. Additionally, Fitger’s has direct access to the city’s Lake Walk, allowing guests to walk undisturbed to either Canal Park to the west, or Lief Erickson Park and the city’s rose garden to the east.Food & drinks: The hotel has no food service per se, but room service is available from one restaurant in the complex - plus there are two other good restaurants in the Fitger’s building. There is free coffee in the morning, but no other gratis items (not even tea).”

“My husband and I stayed here for a few days as a mini honeymoon and WOW! The view of the lake from our room was breath taking and the weather was surprisingly warm for November. We lucked out!Our room had its own jacuzzi which we spent most of our time in, and the fact that the hotel offered complimentary underground parking, popcorn, smores, apple Cider, tea and duluth coffee was just the icing on the cake.Everything about this hotel was relaxing and a great way to spend a romantic getaway in Duluth.”

“For a family getaway or a romantic vacation location. This is a place to check out. The view from the rooms is breathtaking. With in walking distance from several restaurants and shops. There is plenty to see or just enjoy sitting by an outdoor fire pit with friends and family as you wind down in the evening.”

“One of the best cheap and quick inn’s in Minnesota. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are very cosy. This is also the perfect place to stay if you’re a mountain biker. The munger trail is right in your backyard. This is truly the most affordable inn.Nearby activities: The Duluth Zoo is right up the hill, and you get in for free with a pass from the inn.”

“Great place to stay! Great location. Both bedrooms were large. The sauna was perfect after a chilly day of hiking. The added soaps and lotions etc were a nice treat. I will definitely stay again!”

“I rate hotels on three standards, cleanliness, beds and breakfast, if offered. This place gets the highest rank on all three. The staff has been great, too.Bonus: I'm sitting in the lobby killing time as I can't get checked in down on the canal until four and they are playing Halloween music which is fun.”

“I’ve stayed here twice while on motorcycle trips through Duluth. It’s right on the outskirts of town but you feel like you’re in the country. There’s nothing special about the rooms however, the place just feels like home. The only staff you’ll see is the person behind the front desk while checking in. She was very pleasant, helpful and gracious. It’s a $14 Uber ride to downtown if you’re looking for bars and restaurants.”

“Rooms were decent. Very quiet. Location was ok , but you know what? It is what it is... If you're looking for a cheap room to spend a night or two in then this is for you. Fully enjoyed ourselves for the weekend.”

“This motel is a nice budget option that’s in a great location. We only stayed here one night but it was perfect for just the night. The room was clean, spacious and has the basic features. The only thing missing was a coffee maker. There’s coffee by the office but none in the room. The room does have a mini refrigerator with a large separate freezer. The walls are a little thin but thankfully other people were quiet enough to sleep. The location is near some amazing restaurants and brew pubs that are walkable.”

“We stayed here several times over the month of November and December and I loved it! Incredibly clean rooms & bedding & we’ve stayed at high end places on the water not as clean. At night it was quiet & I felt very safe. Excellent breakfast and helpful staff. Seriously going to stay here every time we’re in Duluth. The only inconvenience is the slight drive from cancel park & the lake. But thats why you're not paying the big bucks. You guys are awesome! ? ❤️Nearby activities: We would go up to Blackwoods for dinner! Love that place! It has a Northwoods Lodge and great martinis and foodSafety: Always felt very safe not Just in the room, but in the parking lot. Quiet cozy rooms!”

“This place certainly isn’t perfect but I felt it was a great stay in a wonderful area of Duluth. The front desk was friendly and helpful, the hot tub was hot, and the breakfast had a nice selection. Yes, many of the rooms need a remodel but they’re not unlivable by any means and I’ve seen the same kind of room conditions (peeling paint, worn carpet) at the bigger chains where I’ve spent far more money on a room. We had everything we needed for the kitchen and bathroom, and when we needed pool towels the front desk got some to the pool area quickly. This place is historic and charming, I do hope the rooms and cleanliness of the elevator get some tlc but I also hope they keep the historic elements as well. Lots of great restaurants close!”

“Great customer service is the only reason for the 4 stars. Shout out to Eric (food & beverage), Paige, front desk & Josh, maintenance… you all need a raise! Although hotel had an update in 2015, it seriously needs another. Great revolving restaurant view up top. Many layers of paint can’t cover up a general air of dingy in the rooms and pool area. Tacky caution tape on broken sauna.Could not watch TV more than 20 minutes without loss of feed… yes we let front desk know and yes maintenance was called… they did their best but heard same issue from other guests. Hotel is aware of issue but apparently figures not worth fixing. For people who don’t go out for nightlife, tv is an important part of relaxing or SLEEPING. Staff took care of us but if management cared, continuous issue would be fixed.”
