““Martin” (as the name tag said) was extremely polite and outgoing. I purchased some minnows the other morning and he gave me some tips for what lakes to go to around here. I ended up having great luck that day and I give credit to Martin. I will definitely stop in to catch up with him but in the mean timeI would love if this could get back to him.”

“Good price on brand new tires. Not the most professional about calling you when your order is ready. So you have to call them but they do a good job and have good deals.”

“I work 2nd shift and often stop at Kwik Trip in St. Peter on my way home from work around 2am. EVERYONE working there are always friendly and in a good mood. If I can't find something they immediately offer to go in the back and look for it. I'm welcomed with a smile every time I stop.”

“This is an older gas station a little off the beaten path. It only had one bathroom, and was a smaller store too. There were no hot food items other than microwave options. They had a roller grill, but it wasn't in operation. It was clean though and the attendant was very nice and friendly. Nice place to stop.”

“I recently dropped my debit card on the ground while fueling. Called the store right away and asked if anyone turned one in, but they said they hadn't seen it. Not long after, they did find it and Missy went through the effort of finding my Facebook profile and sent me a message letting me know she found it. This speaks to their honesty and sincerity, and it meant a lot to me. But I appreciate the store and the good, honest people that work there.”

“These days, "cheap gas" is an oxymoron. But at least in parts of the Midwest, ethanol blends reduce the pain a little bit, to the point that premium unleaded is cheaper than regular. And when my Dad owned an operated a gas station in Iowa (Brink Oil Company - Estherville Iowa) growing up, 35 cents a gallon (or gas war pricing at 19 cents) was a clear memory. Question: Why is gasoline still priced with 9/10 of a cent added on? I share my Dad's love of driving and tend to fill up at the last minute. My friend Bob Merrill reminds me of the time that we ran out just a few miles short of Fairmont MN, but my favorite memory was gliding in an Omaha-area gas station just as the fuel-staved engine cut out. Gayle won't put up with that nonsense, so I'm usually looking to fill up when the needle drifts a little below half. On our recent trip back to the Twin Cities (from Spirit Lake), I chose this Speedway because it was time, and my current bias is that larger independent chains (like Speedway, Maverick, or Kwik Star) might be cheaper or at least have clean restrooms and nice selections at their Mini-Mart. And this Speedway delivered on all cylinders. In this case, it also turned out that the next gas station down the road (or at least visible from the highway) was at least a few miles away. Maybe something cheaper would have come up, but in the end, a gas station is basically a gas station, especially when they're open when you need them. I may be charging up my next car (here or elsewhere), but for legacy reasons alone, these places will be around a good deal longer.”
