The JW Marriott Grand Rapids is a top-notch, exquisite, and recently renovated hotel located within walking distance of many downtown restaurants and venues. Guests describe it as one of the nicest hotels they have stayed in, with beautiful, modern, fantastic, and very clean rooms that are comfortable and well-equipped, offering great views. The lobby is spotless and makes a great first impression. Service is consistently highlighted as great, friendly, professional, knowledgeable, welcoming, and a breath of fresh air. The front desk staff and valet staff receive particular praise for being incredible, quick, eager to help, and making stays seamless and enjoyable. The housekeeping staff is also noted for exceptional hospitality. The hotel offers very clean and well-maintained facilities including a gym and pool, though the sauna may occasionally be closed for maintenance. On-site amenities include a Starbucks in the lobby and a mini market for snacks, though the Starbucks closes at 2 PM and the market's selection can be limited. The on-site restaurant is convenient but has higher prices for food that is just okay. A significant concern for some guests is the parking. Self-parking in the garage is not included and costs $40 overnight, which is considered absurd. The walk from the parking ramp to the desk is long, though valet is available. Minor inconveniences include occasional hallway noise near elevators late at night, a small sink area in bathrooms, and sometimes only one person at the front desk causing a line. Despite these points, the overall comfort, cleanliness, and friendly service lead guests to definitely consider staying again.
The room and facilities were fantastic. However, it was extremely disappointing to learn that self parking in the parking garage is not included in the room rate. $40 to park overnight when you're staying at the hotel is absurd.
