The Scarab Club is an arts organization located in the historic district of Midtown Detroit, Michigan. It was founded in 1907 by a group of artists and art enthusiasts who wanted to create a space where they could gather, socialize, and exhibit their work.
The name "Scarab" comes from the ancient Egyptian symbol of the scarab beetle, which was associated with rebirth and regeneration. The founders of the club chose this name to reflect their belief in the power of art to renew and transform society.
Today, the Scarab Club is one of the oldest active arts organizations in Michigan, and it continues to serve as a hub for artists and arts enthusiasts in the Detroit area.
