“Tremendous customer service. The work is always done right the first time and the pricing is extremely fair. There’s nothing better than knowing you have an honest mechanic when you need one. I’ve recommended multiple friends and family members to Sal’s and they have all become repeat customers. John is a stand up guy and does a lot of work for his community. This is the type of business we should all be supporting. I’ll never bring any of my cars to any other shop as long as John owns Sal’s.Thanks for all of the great work you’ve done on all of my cars over the years.”
“DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE OTHER THAN L&A! Had a ball joint, axel and break line snap. Had my car towed over there while they were in the middle of a big job (transmission replacement). Not only were they willing to take my car on such short notice, they had my car in and out within a day or so and DIDNT BREAK MY WALLET. Couldn’t be more satisfied with the customer service. Super accommodating and understanding of my situation. Oscar you are the man. 10/10 would recommendService: General repairs & maintenance”
“This is a space where there are more crooks than anything else; Chuck stands above the rest. After either getting shrugged off or toyed around with 4 other companies, I called Chuck about 2yrs ago and haven’t looked back. He has repaired and maintained lawnmowers and leaf blowers for me and has never failed to blow the competition away. Almost felt like I shouldn’t review just to try and not expose perhaps a partially hidden gem. I won’t be calling anyone else anytime soon.”
“Ken was very helpful. The gentleman at your cash counter and Ken were polite and easy to talk to. I had called 3 other junk yards in the area and none of them answered the phone. Clean operation here.”
“If you can get past the small entrance, it’s worth a trip. Cars weren’t perfectly organized in their locations and there are some sketchy cars stacked on top of each other but the amount of the same makes and models helped us avoid that. Overall, really good for price and amount of cars/selection. Paid $5 for oem Honda gas cap and washer fluid cap. Will be going back.”
“i had a great experience I had my windshield replaced by a gentleman named Tony! he was very professional. He was on a timely manner. He explained everything I was very happy with my work thank you Tony”
“Years ago my car at the time failed inspection due to a compromised exhaust pipe. I had been planning on upgrading to a custom exhaust setup anyways and decided to replace everything from the engine to the tailpipe. I lived in Tewksbury at the time & had heard good things about R&D. I came in and received a consult &
estimate for the work. I remember the prices were reasonable & staff was friendly/knowledgeable.
The day of my appointment came and I dropped the car off. I got a call a little while later from the owner telling me that there was too much oil on the exhaust up near the engine and that they didn’t want to start a fire with all the welding they needed to do. He told me I needed to get an “underbody wash” at a car wash before they could do any work on it. He even went as far as to give me a list of car washes in the area that offer the best underbody washes. Really above & beyond customer service.
After the car wash he was able to fit me right back in to their busy schedule that same week & I dropped it off again. A few minutes after dropping it off he called me and told me to come in so he could show me something. I got back to R&D and he brought me out to the shop where my car was on the lift. He showed me a small spot on my engine block (not the drain pan) where the original oil leak was coming from. He told me to gently press the spot with my finger. I did and the spot was flexing! So many layers of metal had rusted & fallen off over the years that the spot was practically paper thin and oil was actually seeping THROUGH the metal (there was no actual hole yet). He said I was going to need a new engine in less than a few months and he couldn’t in good conscience install an exhaust on an old car that was about to be totaled without checking with me first.
R&D could have easily taken my money, installed my exhaust, and walked away. Instead they did the right thing every step of the way even though it ended up costing them a sale. Honesty & integrity like this are rare nowadays, especially in the auto industry. So rare that my interaction with R&D has stuck with me all these years and I decided to finally write this review. I obviously can’t speak to this shop’s workmanship (although I’ve heard it’s excellent) but I CAN say that without a doubt, R&D is a business you can trust…and that’s saying something these days.”
