My wife brought her car there to replace all 4 tires and have some mechanical work done including an alignment. Upon inspection, they found the oil level on the car to be extremely low. They suspected on oil burning issue, as a result they recommended not to do the major work now but instead to do an oil change first and check the oil level after 1000 miles to see if the problem will persist. We were extremely grateful for the warning and the advise, it prevented us from spending over a $1000.00 on services that perhaps may not be required until the bigger issue is resolved.”

Being new to town and having a VW which is expensive and difficult to fix, I struggled to find a good, reliable, and honest mechanic. The search ended with Joe at top gear auto. Not only did I get honest and great work, but more than a few times he helped me out in a pinch, even when very busy, showing true appreciation for my business. I have dealt with all types of people and can tell when someone is not on the up and up. Joe is an honest to goodness, upstanding business owner who takes care of his customers old school style… highly recommend for all types of vehicles, including foreign cars. “I don't give 5 stars very often, but my husband and I have had really great service from this place. The owner, Samir, goes out of his way to be helpful. He took us in quickly when we needed an emergency repair on our Hyundai last summer, fully explained our options, and got us back on the road with a temporary fix while waiting for the part we needed. He's been our go-to mechanic ever since.”

“When I was young and just getting into the car world, my grandfather looked me in the eye and said Sam, if you want your car fixed right, go see Warren Whitehead! He's the best in town. Well I have been going to Whiteheads since I was a teen and I'm 54 now, I saw Jim when he worked with his dad and watched him grow into an excellent mechanic just like his father. I saw Warren hand his business down to his son and my trust never wavered because before Warren handed it down to Jim, Jim was already doing great work on my car. And his mechanic Steve, what can I say about Steve? I had an old Dodge Caravan that made knocking noises when stepping on the gas or slowing down and on bumpy roads. I brought it to a mechanic I was using for awhile because he was inexpensive due to the fact he worked out of his garage at his home and had little overhead. He told me it was my struts and $380 later which was actually a great price for getting two struts down, and I drove it away and it still made the same noise. I said that's it I'm going back to Whitehead, I'd rather pay more and get it fixed the first time. So I brought it to Whitehead and Steve was the one I explained things to do he worked on my car. He calls me up in a couple of hours and says your all set. I said really? He said yeah noise is gone. I cringed and said what's the damage? He said $66. I ssid your kidding what was the problem? He says you had a broken motor mount and I was able to weld it back together. So if you want honesty and Quality work, Take it to Whitehead!”

“I’m from Rochester NY. I drove over an unusually high bridge abutment leaving Boston for Cape Ann. It was so bad that I was concerned about the damage it may have caused to my car. When I arrived in Essex I looked over the car and there was a bulge in the sidewall of my front passenger tire. I did a Google search of local places and found a New England chain that was unwilling to get me in before I had the drive back home. They mentioned East Coast. I cruised over to East Coast and told the nice guy my story. He said he had to order the tire and could do it the next day. I’ll save you all the hoopla. East Coast delivered. What really surprised me is that this shop doesn’t sell Good Year tires. He looked at my tire for about two seconds. I told my wife when we left the shop after we first stopped there that there was no way this guy could have known the brand, make and size of the tire in the second he took to look at it and that awe’d probably end up with a Michelin (no big deal but I would prefer to match it). Boy was I wrong. Same tire, on time. Didn’t destroy my vacation. I can now safely drive home on Friday. East Coast Tire and Auto Repair Service is the best garage I’ve ever dealt with in any state. Thank you. You guys turned a possible nightmare into a positive experience. I’ll never forget it.”
