“5 stars because it's a great place amidst a community of wonderful fine artists and I'm not just saying that because the owner is a friend of mine...okay, maybe a little bit.”

“An amazing collection of artists, an amazing collection of media. For the public, great access to varied creativity. For artists (I am not one, but know a few), it's a nurturing and inspiring community.”

“Most all of our paintings in our Maryland home are framed by Artful Framing & Gallery. Dilip Sheth is a professional artist himself and has the eye which frame complement the painting best. It is always a pleasure to work with him and the result of making the frames for us, is a piece of art by itself. I lost count how many frames he performed for us. And still we are looking forward to have the next one done.”

“I am so thankful I found this place!! Nasir did an incredible job framing my prints. As someone who has no eye for this kind of thing, he made me feel comfortable and gave the perfect recommendations from start to finish. He took the time to thoroughly explain everything to me and I am so happy with the final result. Highly recommend!!”

“If you're ever in Washington DC, this is a must-visit. It's free and you get to see some amazing quality art. The curators are very friendly and you can meet many of the artists who work there. There are so many pieces on display, I'd recommend setting aside at least four hours to explore. I also highly recommend the contemporary art in the east wing.”

“This is an absolutely gorgeous space to see the work of talented local artists. There are often 2 exhibits at a time and during the opening receptions the artists mingle amongst the guests to talk about their work and the creative process. There is also a lively shop where you can purchase unique pieces from featured and past exhibitors.”

“Best shop I have been to in DC...Incredible shop ambiance and amazing artists. So far I have been tattooed by Rico and I am super happy with the work. Looking forward to hopefully getting tattooed by Maria!”

“I highly recommend printing your photos here. For my husband for Christmas this year, I put together a bunch of photographs from our summer road trip. I had a big frame with a bunch of different sizes that I wanted to fill up, and Hadid did a beautiful job printing all of my pictures to the correct sizes. The quality of the images is outstanding — they look gorgeous. The printing does justice to the beautiful nature photographs that we took . I’ll always print my pictures here from now on. I think I’m going to print and frame some more of my favorite photos to cover a wall in the apartment that is currently rather bare.”

“I was a music journalist at the Evening Star newspaper in DC. To that end, I attended hundreds of concerts. I rank Strathmore in the Top Three venues in terms of acoustics. Additionally, the convenience of a parking garage attached to Strathmore by a skyway, and the beauty of the building...nirvana.”

“Both cookbooks by Marcella are staples in my kitchen, and her shop is a go-to for all types of inspiring gifts. Her artistry is intentional and she offers a wide variety of ways to enjoy her illustrations. If you're in the DC area, sign up for a watercolor & cocktail workshop. It was one of the funnest experiences!”

“Cool place. Easy to talk to different artists. There are painters, sculptors, photographers, potters, printers, weavers and jewellery makers. More than 50 stores to be discovered. The factory has a historic atmosphere. There is still the small of an old factory there and some torpedoes. Also some background on the history of the building.”

“For your framing needs, I brought a nice picture and they put it into a very nice frame and the price was very reasonable, I will be back and very highly recommended.”

“There are two stores that are generally opened in the arts center. The vintage shop and book store by visiting there is always awesome. I also enjoy the changing exhibitions as well as the community events.”

“Interesting selection of art. Staff are friendly and helpful. No "hard" sell. In fact, I believe they allow you to "test drive" a painting to confirm you'llemjoy it in your home (I assume they ask for some sort of security?)”

“We held my daughter's 7th birthday party at Artfolio and they did a wonderful job. Everything was set up and ready for us upon our arrival, including a happy birthday banner. The instructor, Judy, was fantastic and clearly had a lot of experience working with children. Dina was a wonderful support and ensured all the kids had what they needed as they painted. Thank you so much for such a wonderful birthday party experience.”

“Visit Montpelier Arts Center for my cousin's art collection she was exhibiting. Truly enjoyed visiting the center with my granddaughter and wife. Will be back in the spring to bring my granddaughter to explore the grounds a little more.”

“Excellent way to present the life and works of this talented and interesting artist. I learned a lot about him, in a highly engaging way. And I loved how the interactive experience allowed us to go inside his paintings and really feel them using all of our senses.I just wish the tickets were more affordable! Paying almost $150 for a couple to spend one hour at the museum (including VR) is overpriced.”

“So cute! You MUST visit if you are looking for new dishware. The designs vary by artist, but they are so heartwarming and special. The different styles are incredible, and some are based on the local flora and fauna, making them unique to the area. You can even meet the artists!”

“Love it. However, it isn't a place for a quick stop unless you know just what you are looking for. The best part is browsing, that mood of wanting to buy that something special, be it jewelry or an item of home decor either for yourself or someone important in your life. Rusty is knowledgeable and very interesting. If you ask him, he will guide you in the right direction. It is easy to find, just off of King Street, on Lafayette. It is too bad that the city made them take down the purple balloons.”

“We were looking for a non-traditional wedding venue and stumbled on Toolbox’s info. After visiting the space and checking it out we knew it was perfect for the size and scope of our wedding! Alex and Iva (and Cece!) were amazing to work with and gave so many fabulous recommendations for vendors and local connections, which really helped our effort to maintain a budget friendly wedding without sacrificing quality! Cece went above and beyond to provide the most amazing day-of coordination support and kept things moving beautifully, even with some last minute schedule adjustments. Overall we felt so supported, and post-wedding we have gotten nothing but rave reviews from our guests about the venue and overall space as well as the flow of our wedding day. Highly recommend checking out Toolbox for any event hosting needs, but the space was absolutely magical for our wedding. 10/10 would do it again!”

“I'm with North South Art Transfer. We transport art for this business and have worked with them for over 20 years. Margot, the owner, has an uncanny ability to aquire beautifully rare works of art. If eye candy is what you're after, this should be your 1st stop.”
