About The Oread Lawrence, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
The Oread Lawrence, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, is a hotel located on the University of Kansas campus, offering a convenient and scenic stay. The building features beautiful stonework and tall ceilings, with rooms that are very clean, large, and have great views of campus and downtown Lawrence. Guests appreciate the friendly front desk staff and the 5th-floor terrace, which provides a lovely spot to sit and take pictures of the city and campus. The hotel is close to KU campus, with easy access to sidewalks and paths, making it walkable for campus activities. Parking is available in a basement garage, though it costs $20 per night, which some guests find expensive. The hotel has options for food and a bar, adding to the amenities. However, the hotel has some drawbacks. Many guests mention that the walls are thin, making it easy to hear noise from neighboring rooms, and some rooms have issues with noise from events or parties. The rooms are oddly shaped and very tall, with high ceilings that cause echo and wasted space. The bathrooms are large but sometimes have drainage issues, and the lighting is very bright and harsh. Some rooms do not have curtains or blinds that fully block out light, which can be uncomfortable early in the morning. A notable concern is the sewage smell present in public spaces, which affects the overall experience. Additionally, the rooms vary in size, with some beds smaller than expected, and the lack of microwaves in rooms surprises many guests, especially considering the availability of microwave dinners in the lobby. Parking fees and some misleading room representations also detract from the overall experience. Overall, The Oread offers a good location with nice views and friendly staff but has issues with room consistency, noise, and some building features that could be improved for a more comfortable stay.
The room was very clean, and we had no issues at all with the room. Also, the staff at the front desk were super friendly when we checked in at the front desk. Finally, one of my favorite things about the Oread is the 5th-floor terrace it was so neat to be able to sit out there and look over Lawerence and take pictures.
