“Parched. I was parched and wanted a quick drink before a long meeting. I decided to swing into Jayhawk Food Mart for a fix. I was surprised by the amount of items in this seemingly small store. The aisles were packed with stuff. This is not a very large store but there is a terrific selection. I was able to get my drink and was happy they used Styrofoam which I LOVE. I know it's bad for the environment but it keeps the drinks cooler so much longer. Bad on me. Yes, this is a convenience store but it's not your typical convenience store. They had the regular fare of chips and candies. There was just more to this quaint little store. It has a different energy. You got the feeling they weren't rushing you out of the store like so many other places. They had all sorts of tobacco choices, as well. A clerk even offered to help me which never happens in other stores. The staff was friendly and attentive. They were helpful and nice. A smile goes a long way in customer service.This store is easily accessible and it was easy-in, easy-out. Prices seemed reasonable, as well. Downtown Lawrence is a few blocks away so this is a great location.Highly impressed and pleased. Will go back again.”

“I'm a s***** for convenience store hot dogs. This store has much more than hotdogs, though. I love their empanadas and other stuff from the hot bar. Sometimes I'll duck in for a sandwich to take to work. I have been happy with all their food so far.The staff seem friendly and polite. They have been very helpful. Once the hot bar attendant made me fresh empanadas and I was very impressed. Great service.This store has all the typical convenience store fare. Lots of drinks, chips, candy and gum. There is also a Burger King and a Sbarros Pizza inside the store. This place is big inside and there is plenty of room.During the summer, they have an air gusher that blows cold air when the front doors open. Such a nice little treat for customers on a hot day. They also have a Savings Card where you can get your gas and earn rewards. There is plenty of space to park and access is not a problem. The store is clean and orderly. All good!”

“I was trying to schedule a rapid COVID test online and I was getting absolutely nowhere. Would not allow me to type in my vaccination dates, which were absolutely the right dates. I tried on the CVS website as well and the same thing happened. I tried calling Walgreens yesterday to see if they could help and the lady who helped me told me to call a number I already had, and it had gotten me nowhere. This morning, I tried calling again and I spoke to an employee named Jeremy who was super helpful and I sincerely appreciate all the help!! I was able to schedule an apt at a nearby location due to Walgreens being full with apt.'s today.”

“I had a wonderful employee help me this morning. Normally when it says my insurance denies coverage for medication, workers just get frustrated and ask me to pay full price instead of taking an extra minute to look it over again (because that’s typically the case). This usually happens at every pharmacy I go to. But today the employee took extra time to look over insurance information again and then find a coupon as well to help me get a reasonable price for my medication. This is my only positive experience with a pharmacy since I started taking medications 10+ years ago. I wish I could get this employee every time. I’m normally exhausted from anxiety about being able to afford healthcare so it was just a blessing to have someone nice at the pharmacy for once. They deserve recognition.”

“They had me at "pizza". I 4-starred Casey's mainly for the pizza. It's delicious and greasy. The breakfast pizza is delicious, as well.Casey's is like a mini-mall. Yes, it's a typical convenience store with typical convenience store fare. They have salads, sandwiches, all sorts of grab-and-go food. I like that I can grab a salad without going to the supermarket at the last minute. The food is reasonably priced, too. Casey's has a store brand which helps keep down prices, too. This store is always clean and well organized. It's easy to find whatever you are looking for easily. Every section is visibly labeled so it's quick. The only negative part of this store is there is always a line. I've never been to a Casey's that didn't have a line. That's great news for the store, bad news for the customer. In the end, though, it's all good. They still manage to get you in-and-out quickly. Access is easy and there are always plenty of places to park. Highly recommended store.”

“I haven't been to the new place so while tooling around 23rd street, hubby and I popped in. First, it's much, much larger than the former place. Second, it's a colorful layout. The counter's in the rear and you order your food like before but they bring it out to you. Finally, the beer selection is more extensive and they keep an opener by the cash register for your use (I find this very whimsical and cool). We sat at a table painted in vibrant tropical colors with chairs to match. Our food was brought to us. Ok, the food. THE FOOD!!!!!! I ordered 2 Carne tacos which came on corn tortillas, onions and cilantro. Also ordered the no Carne burrito which is huge and is filled with rice and refried beans. I purposely ordered too much food so I'd have leftovers because thats how much I love this food. The Carne was incredibly tender and seasoned just perfectly with a bit of a bite. The onions and cilantro rounded out the entire taco experience. Just freaking delicious. My burrito had a bit more rice than I liked so next time I'll request poquito arroz. Nonetheless, it was a generous burrito and very appetizing. The refried beans were a bit tangy melded with the seasoned rice. Pretty darn good. The salsas I will warn you are muy caliente but dang, they're fantastic. The burn is worth it as it disappears and doesn't leave that "hot taste" in your mouth. Hubby had chicken tamales and I swear I've never, ever seen hubby clear a plate that quick. I'm still a bit peeved he didn't share. He proclaimed the two tamales absolutely delicious! I will have to order those next time and WILL NOT SHARE with hubby. If I could give this place more stars I would. The food is definitely the best Mexican food in larryville. The ambience is ok, mostly because the TV was blasting a soccer game. Service was quick and efficient. The staff doesn't have alot of people who speak English but they get the job done well. It's clean and BTW, you bus your table yourself. There's a market downstairs which I didn't check out. I'll rectify that next visit. And yes, there will be a next visit and relatively soon. You see, hubby dropped my leftover box in the parking lot. So, I'll fill you in on what I try next!”
