Faraway Stores are a breath of fresh air. While other grocery stores, used Covid to drop their customer service levels, Fareway never followed suit.
Fareway continues to excel in delivering outstanding customer service and attention to detail. Every time I shop there, I'm impressed by the friendly, plentiful staff who are always available to assist, whether it's answering questions or helping to find an item. A standout feature is their commitment to carry-out service, something you don't see often nowadays. They ensure that you're taken care of from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave.
Fareway still staffs real people at their checkout lines, offering a personal touch that's increasingly rare. You never feel rushed, and there’s always a friendly face greeting you.
Fareway's meat department is also top-notch. Overall Fareway delivers a shopping experience that’s not just convenient but genuinely pleasant. Definitely the only store I shop at for my grocery needs.”
“There's something special about Fareway, as the combination of their phenomenal customer service, great butcher shop, and atmosphere pulls them above and beyond its competition.
This Ankeny store is no exception. It rocks, great staff throughout. A terrific young man named Ollie helped us once, another superb young man knew the store so well twice for product (wish I remembered his name), and Byron in the butcher shop gave us a pair of amazing suggestions that were elite recommendations, including his own recipe that was so delicious.”
“I always go to Fareway for my meat. The gentlemen behind the counter are welcoming, greet you with a smile and make sure you’re taken care of. Produce has a nice selection, however canned goods are a bit more expensive than Walmart. I’d rather spend my money at my local Fareway.”

I get that there are few name brands and there are less choices than other grocers but prices are reasonable, people are friendly and it's not the size of a football field. “I absolutely adore Aldi's prices! And of course I love their aisle of shame! ? I've found so many cool treasures! Only downside is that a lot of their inventory is short lived, so if you find something you like it might not be there the next time you go. Prices are far lower than Hy-Vee.”

“This is my go-to grocery store for meat. It's a medium sized grocery store and doesn't have quite the variety that some of these new or larger ones have but it's convenient and usually very quick to get through.”

“We love to visit Hy-Vee stores while traveling. Always clean and bright. We ate a delicious, affordable breakfast of berry stuffed French toast and a chicken-fried steak skillet (we shared). Delicious! Not our first time, and we will definitely be back. Stopped and purchased snacks for the road before we left the store.”
“I really love the Balkan and Eastern European offerings here! The owners are extremely kind and welcoming! They're always ready and able to direct me to whatever grocery item I'm in search of. I grew up with Bosnian friends so I will typically come here to find something I miss eating at their house! The store is small but I feel like they offer a wide variety of things. “This place has been in present location since I was a child. Thru all the years, it was always just another "gas station" where I visited on family shopping trips to Merle Hay Mall area. When we stopped for gas yesterday I wasn't expecting what I encountered...this place has totally changed! I was impressed beyond expression! It's a smaller station but it was set up flawlessly for convenience and cleanliness was a top priority for the friendly staff!! 5 stars!”
“I've only been to Hyvee a few times in the past. It's clean and always busy. Some prices are higher than others when compared to shopping at Walmart. It's good to keep those prices in mind and compare them.
Other than that, the selection of products is good and the food is always fresh”
“One of the best grocery shops in the area for desi indian/pakistani products. They have a large variety of products and it is highly unlikely that you won’t find what you’re looking for here. They have basic utensils as well as fresh vegetables in the store. There is also a good restaurant inside which particularly has very good snacks including samosas, samosa chat, pakora, spring rolls, and paneer pakora. Their staff is also very courteous.”
“This store was on top of its stuff. VERY well laid out. Organized. Clearly labeled and items are marked for sale in an easily identifiable way. The options seem endless here, especially in the health and wellness department! Eating healthy doesn't seem hopeless anymore!”

“We chose to check out in a lane that had a first day cashier. The girl bagging the groceries was very helpful to him and us. He accidentally double charged us and the girl took it upon herself to get the approval from management to get it deducted and get us going to keep the line moving!!! Very impressed!! Thank you to the two working isle 5 today!! You are what Hy-Vee is supposed to be!!!”

“This Fareway is in Polk City. It seems larger than many of the other Fareway stores. I love it. It's big enough to have a nice selection but not enormous like some of their competitors. And the employees are always friendly and helpful.”
