“I went to Halberstadt’s for my first suit years ago and i’ve had a great experience every time I walk into this store. From business casual to full on suits, Clayton and his crew always get me taken care of. There’s been times where I needed a quick turn around on tailoring and they always make it happen. Not to mention their prices are competitive with places in the area. Whether it’s your first time buying a suit or you wear a suit everyday of the week, this is the place to go. The customer service here is outstanding and that’s hard to find nowadays.”

“We arrived and were promptly met by store staff. My son is 24 and 6’5” and largely only shops at DXL. The gentleman who helped him was courteous and was able to help my son while I was able to relax in a comfortable chair. Being the mom, I didn’t have much input but was able to hear the back and forth between my son and the store staff member. Unfortunately I don’t know his name but I can say he was phenomenal. Best $644 we have spent in a long time. (6 outfits for new job). High quality clothes for my gentle giant.Thanks so much to the staff at the West Des Moines Iowa store!”

“Spencer's was so cool when I was a teenager in the 90's. Can't say that I've been too much as of late. But going there recently was nice they still have so much one off stuff you can't find anywhere else and the 90's are still very much alive in that store. But with a mix of today's styles as well. If you haven't been in awhile and your teenage years were some time ago then I suggest you go and take a trip down memory lane.”

“Old Navy has been my go to spot for school uniforms and trendy styles on a budget. Have to check back often as sales and mark downs are always happening and stock rotates pretty quickly too. When I can't find it in store, it's convenient to buy on line. Online purchases can be easily returned in store.”

Some of my favorite purchases were a beautiful pair of espadrilles a few years back for my birthday and most recently this dusk pink Parisian inspired jacket...they even got me in their toothpick jeans here and I love them. “There is a woman who works in this store that deserves all the glory for that store. I visited the store before Christmas and in chatting with her it became clear she was the sole person running the store that day. She helped me with a friendly attitude and no complaints and even got me a better deal than online. Cut to a few weeks later I needed to exchange some shoes that I lost the receipt for during my holiday wrapping, same woman helped me and same great attitude. There was a male working as well with long hair that was helpful too. It’s clear the store could use some more help though to make the lives of the current employees a little better.”

“I'm a long distance backpacker. I have a few things from a company called Arcteryx, and was looking for an authorized dealer. I went to their website and this shop popped up as a dealer location. I was intrigued since I hadn't heard of it before. I have to admit that when I first walked in, I thought I was in the wrong place. The front of the store isn't really outdoor gear. I lot of it is women's casual clothing. Then I started noticing things in the back. They have a pretty extensive collection of Darn Tough wool socks. Many of the styles were limited edition ones that I've never seen anywhere else. They had some other outdoorsy clothes in the back. I was impressed with the amount of Marmot items they carry. There were some outdoor gear items in a small section in the very back, but it doesn't seem to be a big part of their business. One of the items that stood out to me was the Sea to Summit Aeros inflatable travel pillow. I wish II'd had one of those for my flights to and from Hawaii earlier this year. The cost is similar to a regular travel pillow, but it's inflatable so it doesn't take up much space when you aren't using it. I asked about the Arcteryx gear. They said Arcteryx doesn't work with small shops like them anymore. It isn't their fault that they're still listed as a dealer, but I was disappointed about it. However, I expect I'll head back in a month or so when they get their winter stock in. I suspect they'll have some good winter jackets and gloves, and I really want to take a closer look at all the Darn Tough styles they had. Wool socks are so good for keeping your feet warm in the winter. And I just might pick up an Aeros pillow while I'm there, too.”

We had a time sensitive engagement to go to and they accommodated us and took a special interest in making sure that everything was perfect. Definitely a one of a kind.”
