“(I plan on editing this review once we get the rings, hence the 4 stars, but I fully anticipate giving 5.)My partner and I stopped here to get our ring fingers measured and get a sense of what I might like for an engagement and/or wedding ring, as well as himself. Within 30 minutes, we had purchased 3 total rings: my engagement ring, my wedding ring, and his wedding ring. Their selection was very good and it worked out perfectly to show many styles of bands and gems and help me decide on what I would like best. My partner also quickly found his dream ring in the store, which was incredible. We had Zack initially helping us, and he was very quick to let us see and handle whatever rings we wanted to check out, and answer basic questions. Then Nick came and calculated cost, and we were shocked at the low cost compared to other places we were looking. Nick and Zach were very gracious and cordial to us, and were very clear in offering cleanings and discussing replacement options should something go wrong, as well as payment plans. As of now, we are very happy with our purchases, and will go to pick up the rings properly in a few weeks. Great customer service, good selection of items, just overall a good experience :)Edit: Happy to update with a full five stars! My partner came and picked my rings up separate from me and was again helped by Zach and Nick. They shared excitement with him and took great care of him, even giving two high quality ring boxes at no cost. According to my partner, the rings look wonderful and are clearly good quality, and he is very happy with the result. I came a week later to pick up my partner's ring, and it was a very smooth and efficient pickup. The ring looks perfect and well crafted, and I know my partner will be happy with it when he finally is able to wear it. Thank you Zack, Nick, and IDC for the enormous help and wonderful, enthusiastic, and helpful customer service we received. Will definitely recommend in the future for other jewelry or for ring shopping.”

“I cannot speak highly enough of Cy Fredrics. My (now) fiance and I went there in February/March to get a sense of what we wanted in ring styles when it got to the point of proposing, and they were incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and friendly. When it came time to actually design her ring, I went to a couple chain stores and was unimpressed and felt pressured. I went back to Cy and the entire staff (in particular the designer, Kendall), was beyond helpful and really allowed me to have ownership/partnership. The custom job was INCREDIBLE and my fiance and I are beyond happy. Recently we went back in because the main stone in her ring was a little loose, and they tightened it right then and there free of charge. As we waited, someone helped me look through masculine rings to get a better concept of what I might want in the future for my wedding band.In the three or four times I have gone, it has been an A++ experience from start to finish. As long as I am in the greater Chicago area, this will be my go to jeweler. WOW!!!”

Large selection of vintage and estate jewelry, including some things I've only seen in books on antique jewelry before (lava cameos!); also some art pieces (small busts, an Erte vase) and vintage beaded purses. The setting is lovely, and the staff, a mother-daughter pair, very pleasant, helpful and knowledgable about the pieces. A large number of colored stones including two vitrines of amethysts that will knock your eyes out (with pearls! with diamonds! matched necklaces in 18" and 24" with encircled stones in rose gold!), in addition to diamonds and a large case that's mostly pearls, including several lovely seed pearl pieces and a Victorian-style diamond/pearl necklace to knock your eyes out. Also coral, turquoise, and more. There is a case and a half of garnet jewelry which assembled in one place what I'd been diligently stalking online, and here you can touch it and see in person if it will sparkle or not. Prices on the items I asked about seemed reasonable, and they were having a sale for Christmas, with little nibbles and ingredients for mimosas. Delightful.”
